The wind blew softly over the island. Besides the soft swaying of the trees there was little to disturb the idyllic serenity here. The island stretched out for miles, but at the coasts there was nothing to see but water. The island, like the universe in which it existed, was nearly empty, the remnants of life clung, decaying, to its shores and its trees and its fields, but the yells of excitement, of fear, of courage that has once complimented the sound of the wind ha since faded to echoes. Today, however, that changed. Today life returned to the universe. The only question is; what kind of universe would it return to?

"C'mon, get up!"

"All of you, wake up."

"Rise and shine, it's a new day."

Far away voices entered the hazy minds of those sleeping on the island.

Lying on the shore of a short beach was Seraphim Valentine, Derik Absolon, and Samantha Allison, and Rodin Seefull. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Lying in the middle of an airstrip surrounded by jungle was a different group. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay Alex Dimanche, Ferro al'Vere, and Hazimie Azhar Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four people; Rija Mors, Terry Frost, Henko Tenioenai, Koizumi Onnea, and Rin Nozomi Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an immaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

The far away voices slowly awakened all of these people. The clouds in the blue skies above moved slowly; the morning was upon them. It was time to wake up and find the future...

~Epilogue~

Thump, thump. Heavy boots hitting a wooden floor. Again. The sound was coming in regular intervals now, as if the one who was wearing the boots was walking back and forth repeatedly.

"Calm down would you?" A male voice. "Now you're stressing me out too." The boots stopped kind of abruptly, replaced by a tapping.

"I'm sorry, okay. It's just..." This deeper masculine voice trailed off.

"I understand," The original voice spoke before the other had a chance to finish. Then there was the sound of jets, and lots of leaves rustling. The sound cut off, followed by the sound of moving machinery. Then the same sound of steps on wood. These steps were definitely lighter though.

"Sorry we're late, interstellar traffic these days," A new feminine voice said, presumably the owner of the lighter steps. Her tone was light and easygoing. "Where is she exactly?" The girl said. Some rustling fabric later, a door opens and shuts. More steps, these ones bigger than the girls, but lighter than the original ones.

"Alex, Derik." A new male voice said.

"Rodin." Alex replied, nodding.

"Yeah, we're having a fantastic reunion, while she's in there..." Derik said, his voice rough with sarcasm and anxiety. Derik had stopped tapping his foot, but instead was now fiddling with some gears and scrap metal in his hands.

"I thought I told you to calm down. Statistics show that she'll likely be fine." Alex said, attempting to calm down the nervous husband.

"Likely isn't good enough!" Derik cried, pounding his fist into the table Alex was sitting at. His hand broke through. Derik forced himself to breathe. "Now on top of everything else, I have a stupid table to fix..." Derik muttered.

"Good to know that nothing has changed." Rodin said, grinning ever so slightly. Alex laughed.

"Uncanny observation, friend." Alex said. Derik merely grumbled under his breath, and leaned back against the wall, returning to his spare parts.

"I do hope she's doing alright in there..." Derik said.

~Inside the Cabin~

Heavy breathing fills the small cabin. A small cry. Quick footsteps. "It's alright, I'm here." A female voice said, the one that had originally been outside the cabin.

"Sera..." A different woman breathed out. "How was your trip?" The same voice continued.

"Oh shut up, you have many more things to worry about." Sera replied directly, not bothering to answer the question. "Now Rija, don't get all tough Spec Ops Princess on me. Just let me help you." Rija nodded, her independent personality clearly exhausted as she grabbed Sera's hand, and gripped tightly. An older lady, spoke up in heavily accented, broken English.

"Friend is pregnant." The midwife tried to explain to Sera. Sera looked at her like she was an annoyance.

"No, I'm just here for tea time." Sera's voice edged with sarcasm. Rija laughed softly, but it cut off abruptly by another cry.

"Do try to be nice won't you?" Rija said, her voice become more and more tired. She gave a louder cry. The sound of a stomp outside carried into the building. Rija clutched Sera's hand harder.

"Head!" The midwife said loudly, grabbing Sera's attention.

"Now comes the hard part..." Sera said through gritted teeth, moving over in front of the wife.

~A Few Moments Later~

The door creaked open, and Sera's head popped out. "Der.." The hacker started, but didn't have time to finished as Derik plowed straight through, shoving past Sera on his way in. Sera fell to the floor. Rodin meandered over, and helped her back up. Sera let go of Rodin's hand, and brushed herself off. "Still needs to learn some manners doesn't he?" Rodin laughed at the doorway as Derik knelt next to Rija. Rija's broad, radiant smile was impossible to miss.

"It's a girl," Rija said quietly, though in a joyful, almost euphoric tone. Derik wore a smile that was still rare, and offered his arms toward Rija. The wife complied, handing the baby over to the husband. His smile broadened, and he was clearly excited. "What should we name her?" Rija asked as her husband goggled over the newborn. Alex poked his head into the doorway, and spoke,

"How about Alex? It is androgynous isn't it?" Derik tried to shoot his friend an evil glare, but he was too happy for it to have the desired effect. Instead, Alex simply laughed a little. The rest of the group continued, the laughter echoing through the cabin, and the woods outside. A perfect day on the new earth, and no one would disagree as the sun set on the horizon.

(Well there you have it. I tried to stay true to your guys' characters, and I might have failed, but I still think it turned out all right? I suppose if you want to branch off of my own epilogue or write your own, that's fine. Also, if any of you have a problem with it, then I suppose I'll edit it according to your will. I did decide to not write the slightly graphic part. Just wasn't up to it. So, yeah. The End I guess.)

Funny thing is that I never showed how Derik really is in times of heavy stress and worry, yet you captured it very well. Very, very well, in fact. Almost scarily correct, in fact, which not only shocks me, but slightly scares me. I think I will make a me my own epilog soon, since yours went well. The characters, though not all of them made large appearances, seemed correct, including the part with Sera's sarcasm, even in a most unfitting time.

I agree with Crona.

Though woulda been nice if Sera had a daughter too >.> (ohwell)

Have to say, that was quite good.  I like how Rodin responded and acted in it.  I would've laughed if he had a son as well.  xP

It's good that you guys liked it, because I was stressing over whether or not I did a good job like all day, haha. But yeah, like I said, you guys can do anything extra to your characters that you want, but I didn't want to intrude, so that's kind of why I didn't give Sera/Rodin a kid.

We would not have minded :D

Heeeeeeeey.

@Crona;  I was referring more to Rodin having a son, but that's fine too.  xD

Wouldn't be a bother at all.

Hey folks, how's everyone doing? I'm making the rounds through some old RP threads of mine to see how everyone's been, hopefully the past few months have been good for all of you! Nobody's accidentally helped any murderous rogue AIs lately, right?

Also, not to repeat myself for those who were also in The Experiment, but I've got a new RP idea coming up soon, should be ready by next week, so...

WOOOO MDS WOOOOOOOO

I saw it on the main page, read it, and I'm excited.

You and me both. MDS has this special magic that creates awesome roleplays...and this one seems to be just the thing I was looking for.

I still say I did nothing wrong in the fight with Henko. My intention was to avoid having him blow my head off and explode Ferro (as well as himself, the radius of the explosion and the fragments would have killed him, too) and anyone else with a rocket launcher gauntlet and giving us a game over.

Natron, however...

( You kill her, I kill you >_> )

Henko shrugged. "Someplace cold. I can tell you that much." He told Rin.

"Hey, Koizumi. What do you think that thing is?" He asked pointing to the console in the center of the room.

"And you," he pointed to Rija. "Who are you?"

Quote thy irony, for it is bittersweet. Which come in the formation of whom died and who lived, aha.

Or in laments terms, ha, you done got killed when you said you be the one to be killin'.

Upon re-reading my Kamehameha post, I realized i could have also done a pseudo Trans-Am or in combo with Knightmare and Laggin, done a Kamehameha-boosted Devil Drill Breaker, which would have been fantastic.

I could have added many gundams to my mix. I stuck with Zero and Strike Freedom xD
