So the other day, as I'm playing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD remix, I noticed in the secret base on Destiny Island there is a crossed-out Chocobo drawing on the wall. I stared for a good while, and asked to why that was there. I remember reading a doujinshi about Sora finding a baby Chocobo, taking care of it, and paying attention to it instead of Riku. Sora even drew the Chocobo on the cave. So Riku (due to his jealousy) actually killed the Chocobo (well he in-directly killed it, he lead a cat to it and the cat attacked it). That maybe one reason (or fan-fic reason) as to why that Chocobo is there. However my theory is a little bit different and may make more sense. The reason why I think that Chocobo is there is that Sqaure Enix was originally gonna be put a Chocobo in Kingdom Hearts. Maybe due to time restrictions, it didn't fit in the KH universe, or its a inside joke. But in the end, the only related Chocobo is the Metal Chocobo Keyblade.

I'm just replying to say that this seems like a detail that has some purpose: like a Hidden Mickey or something. 

Its was just something that was on my mind, and at first just it was curiosity. Later it just turned out to be an all-out quest for the answer. 

Yeah, that caught my attention as well. No idea why it's there.

Fan-art, Fanfiction, dojins, and other fan created material do not count as canon under any circumstances, so no thats not why its there.

 

Its probably just an inside joke seeing as kh is ff and disney; maybe because there are no chocobos in destiny islands.

the chocobowould make a great addition to kingdom hearts now but back then kingdom hearts was more disney then final fantasy and square was unsure if the hybrid franchise would be a failure or a success becouse of this chocobos were thought to have been a bad idea for kingdom hearts the way it was in 2002.

MAYBE THE SECRET DOOR ACTUALLY LEADS TO THE FF UNIVERSE AMD THE DRAWINGS ARE JUST THING WE WILL FIND IN THERE, A CHOCOBO!

Well, it would really be interesting if the theory was true. I mean I am imagining if Sora met any Chocobo in future worlds with Riku then they both remember when they found that Chocobo in Destiny Island (as a flashback)
