Kairi's Thoughts - Kingdom Hearts I Ending

Posted

Did you ever noticed that Kairi thinks something during the ending of Kingdom Hearts I, when she's looking at the stars from the beach of Destiny Islands? Here's the video, go to 1.57:

Why she doesn't speak in the English version? I'm a bit curious now xD

( Hope this isn't a repost, but I didn't find anything about it :( )

She says: "Sora, your feelings have reached me, don't forget it."

For some reason it isn't dubbed in the english version, maybe because it would sounded werid in english as aposed to perfectly fine in japanese. Many japanese sentences are hard to translate smoothly into english. Or maybe they forgot to record that one line before Kairi's voice actor left the building? xD

I don't know, but that's always bothered me, because the ending seems sort of off without it. Like, Sora and Kairi just had this tense conversation, explaining they're always together and will see each other soon. And then, Sora keeps saying Kairi's name as he fades away. It seems like its missing a plot point, in not having Kairi's response to that. Plus, that's one of the few insights into her mind we've ever gotten! -sigh- I really wish it was in the English version. I think it closed things off more nicely that way.

I think its perfect in the English release. The silence in the scene, IMO boosts the emotional effect.

I agree, its a real shame they didn't dub it :/

As with everything Western Distributors thought we were too stupid to understand it and would misinterpret it or something, as they always do
