On route 10 there is a trainer named psychic robert. i'm not sure if that's his name, but he is the first psychic on the route. When you defeat him he says something of the sorts of "Wow your pokemons' power levels are really high! They're sure to be over 9,000!"

Heck the Sonic franchise has a lot of inspiration from Dragon Ball Z right from the 7 emeralds to the Super forms

hmm. never thought of dbz's presence in sonic. and now that i think of it i feel kind of dumb for not realizing the 7 emeralds thing. sure i got the super sonic/ super saiyan reference though.

 

have there ever been any other DBZ references in any other pokemon games?

I wish they referenced something else from it, Over 9000 is so overused

And the voice of Lucario in the movie"Lucario and the Mystery of Mew" is the same voice actor who voiced Goku

 

Who also voiced Black Doom in the horrible Shadow The Hedgehog game

I didn't think it was true until I read a History of Sonic FAQ and saw the similarities....

They usually reference 5 billion sayings/moments from the mainstream media or even past histories in each game. "Over 9000" was bound to come, surprised it didn't come earlier.
