Super Smash Bros Brawl (Project M Mod)

Posted

(Okay, first of all, I'd like to ask that this can remain its own topic, since it's meant to discuss a mod which causes a lot of extreme changes in the core gameplay. It's also not relating to the one for 3DS/Wii U, so if it gets merged with a topic, I'd personally like it to be the one for the series in general. Thanks!)

So, have any of you heard of Project M for Smash Bros Brawl? It's a mod meant to make the game more similar to Melee gameplay-wise, and is actually incredibly fun. It's currently still in production, but the developers have a demo available, and update it with new characters and stages. My brothers and I got it today and played quite a bit of it, I don't remember enjoying Brawl's multiplayer like this in a long time. It doesn't require a hacked console, and only works with the physical game since the creators don't support piracy. As a result, it's legal. In fact, many major news outlets such as IGN have shown the mod before, and I've heard that Nintendo acknowledges its existence. It's completely free, and really fun! I'll include the trailer and a link to the official site down below, for anyone interested.

(Note: The trailer is for the update coming next month)

I've heard of it, I've just never had the time to try it. It's a really cool project, so I'll make sure to play it one day.

I love Project M. I have a couple of friends who are avid players. We even have a little community. I've also been trying to get others into it.

Your library has a Wii and Brawl, right? Maybe you could try to convince them to let you try it there. All you need is an SD card under 2GB, the rest of the tutorial's on the site.

I'm liking the looks of Mewtwo and the costumes. Also, you need the WiFi safe set to play online, right? Or is it still possible to do that using the full set? I'd like to try online, even though I'll likely be murdered since I'm not all that great. xD

Ok ive done that before, but they said they couldnt because it needed a modded Wii. But SINCE IT DOESNT, THEN WE CAN DO IT! :D Thanks.

Oh yeah, Mewtwo and Roy, COOL.

No problem. :D They'll need to delete any custom-made stages before you put in the SD card though, since it launches through the custom-stage menu. If they happen to have any, they could just move those to an SD card. All SSBB games come with 3 pre-set custom stages though, so they'll have to do that.

Ok then, thanks. :)

I remember playing the original. It was just me button-mashing while facing the enemy.

This looks pretty cool.

Let me get back to you on that. I don't play online, just with local friends.

You don't need Homebrew. Like I said in the original post, you don't need to hack the Wii/U or anything, you just need to put the files on an SD card, delete all of the custom stages on the SD card/Wii, then launch the Stage Editor. I'm pretty sure it works on both Wii and Wii U, too.

I liked Project M a lot

but honestly,I'm more used to Brawl's mechanic that it'a hard for me to go back to Melee mechanics

I still love Melee a lot,But it's just I've been with Brawl for a long time to the point It's hard for me to go back
