Just like FINAL FANTASY VII, FINAL FANTASY VIII has been re-released digitally for PC. You can purchase it on Square Enix's Online Store or via Steam.

It's the worst? I've heard nothing but good things about it.

You've either heard wrong or from people who don't know better. FFVIII is to Final Fantasy what Batman and Robin was to the Batman franchise.

Well most people hate XIII and I love it. I think I'll get VIII on PC sometime. But first I need to get & finish I-VI and The After Years on Android. And then get and finish VII on PC. Lol. So much FINAL FANTASY.

Well, the modding communities are definitely gonna have a lot of fun remastering and touching up FFVIII like what they did in FFVII.

Link?

I don't see why they have done that though, it already looks pretty good.

FFVII: there are some people who like the original stuff and there are others that prefer updated stuff like less polygonal stuff. Here's a video of one of the popular mods for example.

Link to mod is included in description of the video. If done correctly (and a right computer specs), this game can be taken to another level

Now for FFVIII,  I don't know very much about. The graphics are more updated, and I don't think any mods should be needed, but modders out there will probably end up going ahead and make the game better or more "HD" or more difficult, or whatever. This happens to most games (esp. skyrim) that release on PC. It would allow a computer techie to go nuts modding the game.

Knowing you, you still like the originals (or official remasters) better than the mods since it keeps its originality, but there are others out there that just won't sit back and wait 20+ years to play FFVII-FFXI on ps4 or ps5 (if we even get to that generation).

I just play Square Enix's latest release regardless of console/device.

the point I'm trying to say is that any PC game released out, or a game remastered for PC, theywill be modded no matter what. Some would rather play games made or remastered by official companies, like Square Enix, and some would rather play games that are modified by a community of Modders.

Give it a few months to a year, and search FFVIII mods and you'll be surprised that people modded the game (I still don't really see why FFVIII should be modded, but there are people out there that just want the game remade.)

FFVIII was an alright game. There were a lot of aspects that would have been better if it was different, but in the end it was just Square trying something new. Although I played it a lot as a kid so it would have more of a meaning to me, instead of just how good the graphics were.

It'll be a remake for PlayStation 4. No way they remake something for PlayStation 3 now. And a HD Remaster isn't worth it, the PC re-release last year was what a HD remaster would be like.

Is it possible to remake FFVII before the remaster of FFXII if it was confirmed?

A HD remaster of XII is only been hinted at interviews, but they have confirmed they could do one. My assumption is now that they have finished X/X-2 HD Remaster they'll start remastering XII.

A VII remake would take a few years if done right, and it'll be for the PlayStation 4. They wouldn't do one of the most anticipated remakes of all time on a console that would dying at it's release if not dead.
