Hi guys, just a fast question.Are Assassin's Creed III and Black Flag related to the previous Assassin's Creed games?I was amazed by the graphics, places and the open world of Black Flag and I am planning to buy it. But I am afraid that I wouldn't understand the story if it is related to the previous games (which I don't want to play). 

I've played III, but not Black Flag. III is a continuation of the main story from the previous games, so it's more than likely Black Flag will be as well. 

Some what. AC3 and AC4 present day story line is still going on at the same time...So whatever happened at the end of AC3 in the present day it leads right into the next AC4 present day story.

 

In terms of the actually Assassin story the only relation they have is the family bloodline, Conner Kenway (The assassin you play as in AC3) is the grandson of Edward Kenway who is the Assassin you play as in AC4. But does it related to the past AC games? No not really, there is a few hints, easter egg here and there but nothing major that you need to know from the past AC games in order to understand AC3 and AC4.

 

But like I said the only thing that they all have in common that you might need to understand from other AC games is the present day story line.

 

 

So if you want a quick rundown of the time line it's like this.

 

AC 1 > AC2 + AC Brotherhood + AC Revelations > AC4 + AC3

AC3 continous right after Revelations, AC4 is not a part of the "Desmond saga".

AC 1 > AC2 + AC Brotherhood + AC Revelations > AC4 + AC3

AC  failed to put the main focus on the present day timeline, but we're supposed to look at that so AC4 does come after AC3 in the timeline. Assassin's Creed went downhill after AC2, but they destroyed the main idea of the series with AC3.
