It is the second day at Beacon, you are on the cliffs with a bunch of strangers...or friends (decide amongst yourselves) and are about to start your very first trial: falling.  Crazy old Ozpin is telling everyone to have a landing strategy.  It is up to you to take the first step.  Begin!

 

 

Ozpin and Glynda's speech:

 

 

Everyone currently stood on the cliffs, standing on some kind of platform.  For some reason, each platform having the school's insignia.  Ozpin and Ms. Goodwitch were standing before them, it was kind of exciting and nerve racking all at the same time.  What were they going to tell the students.

 

"For years you have trained to become warriors," the gray haired man began, as he addressed all the students.  "Today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest.""Now," Glynda continued, "I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams.  Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion.  Each of you will be given teammates, today.""These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time, here at Beacon.  So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone whom you can work well.  That being said, first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

 

There were an abundant of reactions, ranging from both sides of the spectrum.  It would continue for the rest of the authority figures' speech.  Regardless, Ozpin continued."After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest.  You will meet opposition along the way.  Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die.  You will be monitored and graded for the duration of the initiation, but our instructors will not intervene.  You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics.  Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff.  You will guard that item, as well as your standing, and we will grade you appropriately.  Are there any questions?"

 

 

 

And with those last couple of words, one by one everyone prepared to be tossed into the air.  Whether anyone responded or not, did not matter.  Ozpin already had a set answer.

 

"Good.  Now, take your positions."For some reason, someone always had a question about the landing strategy and so the gray haired man answered accordingly.

 

"No, you will be falling,"

"Oh great, some guy is asking questions," Haru thought.  "What an idiot."

"No, you will be using your own landing strategy."

 

And with that, everyone was tossed into the air.  Haru, felt very natural in the air, holding his backpack as he flipped and twisted a couple times, somehow avoiding mysteriously placed crows. *cough* Monty *cough*  He decided to try and stay in the air for as long as possible, it seemed fun that way.  He spread his arms in the air, picking up a bountiful of air resistance."This is great!" the white haired boy yelled out, diverting some of the other first years' attention.

 

He looked around to see the possible competition, as well as teammates.

 

"Now which one of you are my future teammates?"

" weird as in there's lots of creatures around it some aren't even grimms" chase said. he climbed higher up in the tree and leaned out of it looking fr the clearing. he smiled soon seeing it. " if we head north for about 20 more minutes we''ll be there" chase yelled again before climbing down. he put the sword away and glanced over at veronica. " i'm guessing you hate me right" he asked.

"Nothing's wrong," Haru answered.  "I'm just tired."

 

He turned away and hid his qualms about the situation, noticing more students approach.

 

"Looks like we have more company."

"Oh.... Just.... don't push yourself too much.... By the way, could you explain your reflection powers? They're quite.... interesting..."

"Twenty minutes.... We should probably pick up the pace," Veronica said to herself.

When Chase got down he asked, "I'm guessing you hate me, right?"

Veronica was taken aback. "Hate you? What gave you that idea? I just don't really know you, that's all. We've only just met today...."

Inside, Veronica was berating herself. Do I really come off as that unfriendly? Okay, I'm not the friendliest of Faunus. But still... 

"Er, anyway.... we should hurry toward the temple. Most, if not all, of the others are probably there by now."

 

"It has two functions.  Reversing anything coming my way or doubling my damage output in short," Haru explained with brevity, using his hands to show what he was talking about.  "It isn't any more complicated than that."

chase nodded and stopped. " can i give you a piggy back then you know so we can move quicker and oen of us will still have enough energy" chase asked.he was pretty good at running and just wanted to get on this rabbits good side. " also sorry for thinking you hated me t's just you kept giving me the cold shoulder and all" he said rubbing his neck.

"Hmmm..... So, deflecting attacks and... that thing you did with the Taijitu, and carving your initials on the opposing pillars."

That's a good ability for large enemies or more than one enemy. But it seems that Reflection uses up a lot of Haru's energy, given the state he's in.

He looked at the other students loitering about. "These guys should probably get some chess pieces. And then there are still some people left..." He stared out into the forest....

"A-A piggy-back ride?" Veronica wasn't sure. Talk about embarrassing. But they were short on time. No doubt the other students would scold them for being tardy.

"F-fine. You can give me a piggy-back ride," she stammered.

"Sorry for thinking you hated me. It's just that you kept giving me the cold shoulder and all," Chase said.

"N-no, don't be sorry. You were only trying to be nice," she replied to her partner. "Now... let's just forget about that and be on our way. How does that sound?"

"Don't worry about me. I'm a Faunus, I've got attributes of a lion, so I'm pretty fast." He said, then leaping from the tree in an incredible hight. "And my semblance is pure power, so if I need to catch up I'll be fine." He gently flew back down to the earth, he landed and made a slight crater a little way's away from Yuki. "Come on, no time to loose, right, partner?"

Yuki smiled a bit."Right." She said, starting to dash off. They were way behind the others most likely.

" at this rate we'll be there in 10 maybe 8 if there's nothing in the path way" he said. soon he stopped at a giant tree in the path way. " make that 10" he said slowly climbing over the tree and returning to a quick pace.chase could hear the bird grimm above them and was trying his best to stay in the shadows fo the leaves. " i'm gonna do a quick curve alright" he said before making said cruve and almost hitting a tree.

Yuki smiled a bit."Right." She said, starting to dash off. They were way behind the others most likely.

Davis began to run, and doing so on all fours, his kept the pace up with Yuki. They neared the temple quickly, about half a mile out, Davis rushed up and grabbed Yuki. "Hold on!" He cried out, jumpping as high as he could, like pouncing on prey from afar, they crashed into the area next to the defeated King Taijitu, landing on two feet, he laughed a little. "And that is an intrance!" He yelled out, not noticing the enemy next to them.

Holding on was a tad harder than Veronica thought. She almost fell off when Chase nearly ran into a tree. Fortunately, after that, the going was a lot smoother. Or rather, as smooth as it could be.

Before long the two reached the temple. "T-thanks," Veronica stammered as she hopped off of Chase. She noticed the Taijitu body laying nearby, and the temple just up ahead. "Looks like the others are all here."

 Aria watched in surprise as more people arrived at the temple. "Well that's a lot of people, it's a good thing you guys didn't get hurt from those silly-looking Grimm costumes." Her eyes wandered noticing a couple Faunus among the group of students that arrived. Then she saw the chess pieces resting on the pedestals. Aria looked closely at each of them and poked them to see if anything would happen. "Um," She scratched her head, "What are these chess pieces for?" 

 

"Pick one," Haru quickly answered, looking back at the girl.  "They're the relics for this year." 

 

He looked away after addressing her as he continued to maintain a calm on his injuries.  It really seemed as if it was going to be a very long term handicap.  The pain wasn't letting up one bit since he had a rough landing earlier.

 

(Someone help me fill in the gaps, what piece did your characters get again, Junko?  I know Haru and Alvis got a Knight.)

Nami was squatted next to Vyona and had the tip of her rapier pointed close to Vyona's arm. She's been like that for the past few minutes now and Vyona was about to say something when she finally said something. "I wonder what kind of violent reaction I'd get if I were to poke you in the arm. Although I wouldn't jab you to the point of bleeding." "And I wonder what kind of reaction I would get if I were to set you on fire." "....Touche." Vyona simply looked away, annoyed and saw that more of the students started to show up one by one. Some were still messing with the Grimm lying on the ground that Haru and Alvis took care of earlier. "Aw, are you mad at me for trying to find amusement to pass the time." "I think most of them are here now." "Huh?" Nami put her rapier away and looked over to see that there were more people here from before. Vyona stood up and rested her hand on top of her staff that was still sitting in its holder. "So I guess this would be time for me to leave right? I've wasted enough time here." Nami also got up on her feet and tapped her finger to her chin. "I dunno, yet again, nobody is stopping you." After Nami said that, Vyona turned on her heels and started making her way over to the edge of the forest. Nami went over and grabbed her arm. "That didn't mean leave right this second. Just give it a few more minutes, okay?" 

Syfe. Heian thought in his head. "Odd name." He muttered, blinking when he realized he had spoken aloud. He looked to see if the other had noticed -it seemed they hadn't- and so Heian followed Syfe down the forest path until a temple came into view. Along with a snake. A rather large snake.

"Well, if you say so." Heian said, getting a glance at Syfe as he pulled out his own weapon as they both entered the clearing. "We're a bit late...and I'm getting the feeling it's my own fault.." Heian murmured, grumbling a little. Own of his ears twitched, resonating the annoyance that was going through his mind.

Syfe didn't respond to the comment about his name. He personally liked it, so others' opinions were of no import. Syfe kicked the dead King Taijitu, and looked over at Heian. His partner was a faunus. Syfe didn't have a problem with that, but others might. Heian was also older than he, but that was to be expected. He was rather young for the school after all. Syfe looked back towards a structure in the distance. "No matter. The pieces are right over there." Syfe said, pointing to the area. Weapon still in hand, he began to run over to the relics. Many other students were also here. Reaching the area before Heian, Syfe began to stand and look over all the other people here.

We really are late.  Heian thought, clutching his sword harder. He hated being late, it actually meant people would notice him--and usually taunt him for being who he was. He sighed, falling into a more comfortable laid-back position. Better to at least show these people he doesn't care.

"Well...we're here." Heian said, looking at who had been assembled so far. Not many students.

(Ohp. Just a reminder: Since the teams are up on the sign-up thread, make sure that the two pairs that will be on the same team get the same piece.)

chase nodded and smiled running over to the statues." hey which one should we get" he asked happily.he looked over all the peices not caring for color but which one it was. " the choice is all yours veronica" he said calming down. he cracked his knuckles and looked at the other people around them. " maybe i should go say hi to one" he thought his ears twitching.

"Hmmm....." Veronica looked at all of the remaining pieces. She picked the one closest to her: a Knight piece.

Alvis's eye scanned the area. More people were dropping in one by one.

"Is this everyone?"

Davis began to run, and doing so on all fours, his kept the pace up with Yuki. They neared the temple quickly, about half a mile out, Davis rushed up and grabbed Yuki. "Hold on!" "And even if it dose, we could kill it!" He said, the grin on his face being extremely apparent. Carrying Yuki over to the statues, he looked around at the pieces, and then took the Black King piece off of one of the pedestals, storing it inside of his chest pocket. "Welp that was easy." He laughed a little.

"Davis! Let me go!" Yuki complaint, squirming in his arms.

It was embarrassing him carrying her, I mean they barely knew eachother. Yuki broke out of Davis's arms easily. 

"I'll take this one." she stated grabbing a white Rook.

(Ah, okays.  I love how we're seven pages in and we haven't passed this part yet  I'm calling this just the story intro arc.)
