Sword Art Online: Another Log-In (Roleplay Thread)

Keimei looked around at the crowd in the center plaza of the Starting Town. "Why was I just taken here...?" She asked aloud. She'd only been playing for a couple hours, and had decided to get into the combat system before finding anyone to team up with. She looked around the crowd, noticing a lot of other people were also teleporting there. Suddenly, the sky above her turned blood red. A cloaked figure appeared over the square, and hovered there.

"Hello everyone, and welcome to SAO." A voice boomed over the crowd. "You're likely wondering who I am... My true identity will remain secret. However, I will tell you this; I have hacked into SAO. Some of you may have noticed that there isn't a log-out button... That's because I've removed the option to log out. I've trapped you all in the game..." He paused, as the crowd was dead silent. He eventually continued. "Why have I done this? Simple. I've wanted a world of my liking. In this world, I've surpassed even the game's creator, Kayaba Akihiko. Here, I control you all... Unless, of course, you can clear all 100 floors. However, that's impossible..." He cackled. "Also, to warn you... If you die in the world of SAO, the NerveGear will fry your brain in the real world, killing you in both. If anyone attempts to remove your NerveGear, you will also die. Now then, before I leave, I have a gift for you..." Suddenly, a mirror appeared in Keimei's inventory. She used it, out of curiosity. There was a sudden flash of light, and she shut her eyes...

When she opened her eyes, she felt different. She looked into the mirror... That's... my real face in the mirror... She looked in horror. Aside from her hair color, which was the same shade of red that she'd made it in-game, she looked exactly like she did in real life.

"Now then... With this, I must leave. Good luck in Aincrad... You'll need it." A maniacal laughter echoed along the buildings, as the figure disappeared.

After the echoes, there was silence. After what felt like ages, people began rioting. "We're doomed!" "I can't be trapped in the game, I've got a meeting in an hour!" "That had to all be some sick joke!" Keimei looked around in confusion. She didn't know what to do. She looked around frantically.

I have to get out... The only way to do that is to fight, and I'll need partners... Man, I really wish my friends had been able to get the game so I wouldn't be alone in this. She dashed through town, weaving her way through the crowd and into the streets. She tried to look around for someone, anyone who was also rushing to go fight.

"The blacksmith shop had knives, but i don't know about any of the other stuff. We'll have to check out a houseware store for that stuff." Abisk replied. "I think there is one in this town, if I recall..."

"Alright, let's go check those then." Kei nodded, and went to the blacksmith shop to get a knife. After that, she found the houseware store and got cooking supplies. "Anywhere else you want to go before we move on, Abisk?" Kei asked, making sure that she wasn't just dragging him along everywhere.

Ryonne took another bite of his breakfast. It wasn't quite as good as real-world stuff, but he was adjusting to the facts of the game. Ryonne nodded to himself. It helped to review a day's plan with others before carrying it out. Just in case you missed anything important. He took another bite, chewed and swallowed, then looked back to Sikiro. "Then we take the map data back here to town, and enlist some help to kill the boss." Ryonne reassured himself. He gobbled down the rest of his rice and eggs, before standing. He placed several gil on the table, and grabbed his blade in its sheath next to him. He wandered over to the door, then waited for Sikiro.

"I guess." Sikiro replied, pushing himself away from the table and standing up. "Rather we just run through it and beat the boss ourselves right then and there...but whatever allows us to live." Sikiro was surprised he was talking so much; usually he sat quietly and let others decide on what as to be done. Perhaps the slight shock from his entrapment in SAO and having to survive with the help of few others opened him up a bit more.

"Well..." Abisk thought it over in his mind. "No, asking her out after we just met? No less than a day after the hack? Get yourself to your normal self in the game..." He sighed. "But then again, what are the chances you'll be able to talk to a girl like her again? ...I'll just play it off like a friendly lunch-invite..." He looked at Kei. "Damn it... I can't s-say anything... C-Calm down... It's just for lunch..." He would have had a nervous sweat going if this weren't just a game. "H-Hey, Kei, I know you wanted to work on your cooking skill... B-But would you too terribly mind just grabbing lunch with me at the place I mentioned?" Abisk was just ignoring fear for a moment, but he might just spurt anything that came to his mind, it was racing faster than he could comprehend.

"Huh? Oh, of course! I was kinda curious about how it was there, anyway." She smiled, not entirely noticing how nervous Abisk was. "I can always cook something later, too. So, you lead the way, Abisk."

"O-okay..." His voice trailed off as he lead Kei to the restaurant, it was small, only had a weak tea and water for beverages and a few fresh sandwiches, but other than that not much in variety's wake. Showing Kei to one of the seats in the back, he picked up the menu and sat down himself. "S-So... Did you sleep well?" he asked.

"Not exactly..." She muttered, remembering her nightmares. "This whole being trapped in the game thing is still a huge shock to me... I couldn't sleep very well because of that." She spoke quietly, like she was straining herself to not break down right there. "Wh-what about you?" She asked.

"U-Uh..." Abisk's eyes darted around the room. The images of everyone dying against the unnamed creature were flashing before him. "A-About the s-same as you did, I guess..." He bit down on his lower lip, nervous of what was to come.

"Oh..." Kei sighed. Of course it'd be the same as me, no one sleeps well after learning they're in a death trap. Kei quickly made her order, then turned back to face Abisk. "So..." She tried to think of some sort of way to get off that topic, but was drawing a blank.

"Sounds good to me. I could use some extra training, anyway." Kei smiled. She noticed that Abisk seemed a little nervous. "Hey, are you okay?" She asked. She assumed it was still shock from being trapped in the game.

"Huh? Okay... If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine." Kei said, trying to calm Abisk down. She seemed to just make him even more nervous. "So, uh... You don't have to answer if you want, but... What did you do before we ended up here?" Kei asked, trying to change the subject again. "I-I mean, I know it's kinda awkward to talk about the real world here..." She blushed, realizing it was probably too personal of a question.

"I uh... Well... I grew up pretty poor and sheltered... So I didn't really do much... Home-schooled, almost never allowed outside... I got into gaming after a family-friend gave me their old gaming PC a few years back... But if you mean job-wise I use to write novels... I'll tell you what type if you promise not to laugh..." Abisk was speaking very fast, his nerves were pretty jumpy and he blurted it all out.

(What is this, a 1x1 now? On a more serious not, nice idea making my character faint like that while I was away Crona, very clever of you.)

Lock slowly opened his eyes, his head still aching from falling to the floor. [What... what happened?] Lock thought, and wandered around the inn untill he found Vash and Back. "Hey guys, what just happened?" He asked.

(LOL... my notifications....)

After Black saw Lock pass out, he worried himself, then he checked his status, he could see that he was transfered during the time he was asleep, before the mission in the forest. "Phew what a relief." he said a little less worried. He went to the town to buy a few things for the upcoming journey ahead.

However, in Black´s mind, the thought of dying in this world and also dying in the real world...."If you think for a moment... everyone here are like myself right now... but death... what does mean dying here? You will become junk data? Will you be lost like a forgotten memory?... No... I can´t die like that.... not now..." He thought while walking back to the inn.

A few minutes later, Lock reached the lobby of the inn, awake again of course. "Well, by the look of it, or you were the drama boy or you were transfered to the nearest hospital possible. Who knows in any case you were disconnected for a few hours. Nothing interesting happened anyway!" Black answered with a sarcastic smile.

Ryonne nodded to himself. "I'd prefer that too. But I don't think a floor boss is something only two players can take care of. And if it is, then oh well. Better safe than sorry when your life is at risk." Ryonne reasoned. He turned the doorknob, and both of them set off, traveling towards the dungeon area. They stopped in front of the entrance. Ryonne looked at the large gateway to the dungeon. "Has anyone else even been in there yet?" Ryonne asked. He clutched the sheath at his side. He couldn't deny he wasn't nervous. This was his first time in an MMO, and with the Nervegear. There were others far more comfortable with this kind of environment that could be on the front lines. But no. He had to fight for himself. Otherwise it wouldn't feel right, letting others die in his place.

"I won't laugh, promise." Kei smiled. I didn't think he'd be so open to answering...

"O-okay..." Abisk's eyes darted around. "I'm a critically-acclaimed love, adventure, and myth novelist, as well as a beginning playwright...." Abisk blushed, slightly embarrassed. "I went by the name "Terra Loyd" when I wrote something..."

"Really?" Kei looked interested. "Wow, I wouldn't have guessed. You look really young, I've never heard of an author the same age as you." Of course, it could just be because we're in a game. He looks my age, but he could be way older... "I don't think I've heard of any of your work... I'll have to check it out when I'm able to!" Kei said, then remembered she might not even be able to get out of the game.

"Oh, you passed out and Abisk and Kei went out on a date. I don't approve of it though, ill win Kei over." Said vash.

"Y-Yeah... That's why I hi-hid my actual name and used a fake one..." Abisk was running low on things to talk about already. "S-She probably thinks I'm super old or something..." Abisk's eyes darted around. "S-So w-what d-do you do...?" Abisk asked. "I wish i could prove I was about her age..." he thought.

Vash put his hand on Abisk's back. "OK THATS FREAKING ENOUGH. YOUR BOTH POURING OUT YOUR LIFE STORIES TO EACH OTHER. I CAN TELL YOU'RE TRYING TO GET HER TO FEEL SORRY FOR YOU AND FALL FOR YOU, SO JUST STOP IT."

(Spidy, we kinda left the inn and you all a while back...)

"Oh... Well..." Kei began thinking. "I'm a regular student for the most part... I got into MMOs a few years ago when some of my friends from school convinced me to try one out. Since then, I've played a lot with them... I also do a lot of cooking in my free time. That's really it, I guess... I don't have a job yet." Kei sighed.
