Greetings, Planet KH13. Spaceman Firaga Sensei here, and I'm landing into orbit to bring you a thread about this brand spanking new anime that premiered on Toonami last night (and before it debuted in Japan, too.) It's called "Space Dandy" and its from the same guys that brought us of Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop... If you're not excited yet, you're a f**king moron.

Space Dandy is colorful, wacky, space adventure starring, you guessed it, a guy named Space Dandy. He's a dandy guy, and he's from space. Get it? *rimshot* This guy is a confident and outlandish alien hunter who loves TNA (more A than T though. Actually, I think he prefers A specifically lol). He searches the galaxy to find new species of aliens, and apparantly, he also wants to visit every Boobies restaurant there is and someday own the entire chain. Boobies is basically Hooters in this show. Hooters.... IN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE.... Dandy's swagger reminds me of Franky from One Piece. Probably b/c they have similar haircuts. lol (Also, I'm pretty sure Dandy is voiced by Patrick Seitz, Franky's English dub VA) :P

Things to note: 1) This show is freaking hilarious. Just listening to the dialouge between Dandy, his robot sidekick QT, the narrator who pops in when he wants to and trolls out the audience and whatnot, and other characters as well, is comedic gold. The English dub writers hit the nail on the head, and i hope this keeps going till the very end of the series. 2) Space anime have a habit of picturing space as... well, sorry to say this, but... BORING. Its just blackness and stars and zzzz... but in Space Dandy, its so much more than that. Space is colorful, full of cool looking planets and areas like the Boobies resturant interior, exterior, and Dandy's ship entirely. 3) Overall, the show is colorfully drawn and every little frame you see breathes life onto the TV screen. People who love great animation will love his show.

Anyways, the first episode sees Dandy and QT visiting a Boobies. There, after taking in all the Star Wars-esque atmosphere, with all the aliens and big booty/titty girls/alien girls... they run into a alien who looks like a cat. Don't call him a cat though, he'll get pissed. He claims to be a Beetlejuician, whatever that is, and his name is M-something. Its really hard to pronounce, probably b/c he says it in his native language. So Dandy decides to just call him Meow. We're also introduced to Dr. Gel, a talking gorilla dude with the hair you see on judges who is apparently tracking Dandy. He's also involved with some skull head looking guy who's part of the Gogol Empire, I believe... its not really given too much depth and even the narrator goes "Eh, this isn't important, lets get back to Dandy" xD. I'm sure we'll get more info on this later. B/c hey, it wouldn't be anime without side plots. xD The rest of the episode sees Dandy, QT, and Meow getting into wacky shenanigans like going through a huge time warp thingamajigger and then visiting a lone planet, somehow spiraling right into a outrageous chase sequence with a huge ass alien on Dandy and Meow's tail and somehow, a giant robot appears in the mix too.

The ending I don't want to give away b/c its really freaking crazy and hilarious, and its even more funny if you see the outro for what's gonna happen in the next episode. Rest assured that overall, Space Dandy has potential to help kick off the 2014 anime year with a big bang. This is revolutionary stuff people, so for now on, if you can watch Toonami in your area (or if you're like me, record it with the DVR thingy), then sit down, grab some pizza and beer (or soda for the SE peeps), and watch Space Dandy. You're in for a wild ride. :)

Hey Gais, remember what Dandy said. It's not about the boobs. It's about the ass.

Hey guys, Firaga Sensei here. Just figured I'd drop by and do something interesting Space Dandy related.

Here are my top 3 Space Dandy episodes from Season 1!:

3 - Episode 1: "Live With The Flow, Baby"

The very first episode of Space Dandy. This is the episode that started it all, and its that kind of prosperity that allows it to get this spot. The introduction of Space Dandy, his ideals and goals, the "Space" of Space Dandy itself, Meow and QT, Dr. Gel, and everything else was not only interesting, but hilariously executed. Not to mention the animation in the chase scene with Dandy and Meow was completely amazing and the perfect way to start off the show. and the ending is just the foreshadowing to how wacky and insane the series gets. Its great.

2 - Episode 5: "A Merry Companion In Space, Baby"

This isn't a surprising choice, considering most people pick this as their favorite overall. It's the most serious episode of the entire series so far. After four episodes of wacky space adventures, we get a more low key character analysis with Dandy and new friend Adelie as they take a road trip across a planet, weaving themes of loneliness, parental abandonment, responsibility, free will, and overall, good old fashioned adorableness. We even got some comedy in it too, and while it was a lot less then we usually get, and it wasn't as wacky, it was still enjoyable. And that's all that matters.

1 - Episode 7: "A Race In Space is Dangerous, Baby"

This is the funniest and most entertaining episode of the entire season in my opinion. The literal "space race" that takes place in this episode is astounding in terms of high energy fun and entertainment. The characters, most notably the antagonist of the episode, Prince (voiced by the legendary Eric Vale) and his crew, facing off against Team BBP was hilarious; the banter between them all and Space Dandy's arrogance and bluntness vs Prince's fake and stuck-up generosity (especially the scene where he flipped him off and told him off, that was freaking gut-busting) and then just to end it all of with the Prince "coming out of the closet" sequence as well as the unimaginable trippy future ending with the giant statue. Best. Episode. Ever.

Show just doesn't interest me, a see previews and it's just ehh to me.

We got sad news, baby: next week on Toonami, the final episode of Space Dandy will air. That's right, twenty three episodes and two seasons later, the wacky adventures of Space Dandy ends. And it looks like it's gonna go out with a bang, too, and we're finally gonna see Dandy and crew encounter Dr. Gel and get involved in the war between the Gogol Empire and the Jaicro Empire. Needless to say, it's gonna be a smash, baby. ;)

I've really enjoyed the run of this and it's probably one of my top favorite anime series ever (granted, though, I've only watched a handful of them). My favorite aspect of it is definitely the lack of an arc/little continuity, which makes the show really unique (at least to me) and each episode extremely rewatchable. In addition to that, there's the great humor, gorgeous animation, and occasional feels that help elevate the show to really memorable status.

The cream of the crop Dandy eps, imo, in no particular order:

SEASON ONE

  • The Search for the Phantom Space Ramen, Baby
  • Sometimes You Can't Live with Dying, Baby
  • A Merry Companion is a Wagon in Space, Baby
  • A Race in Space is Dangerous, Baby
  • There's Always Tomorrow, Baby
  • Nobody Knows the Chameleon Alien, Baby
  • Even Vaccuum Cleaners Fall in Love, Baby

SEASON TWO

  • I Can't Be the Only One, Baby
  • There's Music in Darkness, Baby
  • The Transfer Student is Dandy, Baby
  • The Big Fish is Huge, Baby
  • Rock 'n' Roll Dandy, Baby
  • A World with No Sadness, Baby
  • Lovers are Trendy, Baby

Here's to the finale, looks to be a great sendoff for the show. Also here's hoping for a potential movie in the future (hey, Cowboy Bebop got one!)

Oh my God that ending killed me. I can't live without more Dandy, especially after that big stride of GREAT episodes.

Deadpool is right. Space Dandy has come to a close... or has it? (There's a screen at the end that says "May be continued?" at the end of the episode so I wouldn't count out this being the end just yet.)

Anyways, the finale was amazing. Action, comedy, story, and a ton of great moments that I can't even list right now, I'm so amazed. It was a great cap to a great series, and hopefully the possibility of there being more Dandy is very high. It'd be a shame to end the series the way it is now. There's still a little bit more that can be done with it, I believe. :)

Space Dandy: Best Anime Of 2014.

Also, just so you know, I've heard around the block, nothing official, that Dandy may be getting a movie... maybe that's what the screen means?
