Hackers disable Nintendo 3DS region lock

Posted

Hackers have now found a way to disable the region lock on Nintendo 3DS consoles. The method allows you to play legitimately purchased overseas titles on your Nintendo 3DS. To enable this feature you must be running v4.5 firmware or older, if you aren’t then this specific hack won’t work. You will need to use a Nintendo DS or Nintendo 3DS flashcard which works with legacy firmware. This will enable you to run a patched launcher file that modifies your system to load cartridges from other regions. You can also update with more recent firmware afterward to play imported games that require it.

Too bad I'm not into hacking my systems. :/ Of course, there aren't any non-localized games that I want, anyways. Only reason I'd consider this is to get 3DS games earlier.

That`s great and all.

For the hackers.

After all, they`re the ones who hacked it.

Whutheygondo?!

Hack EVERYSINGLE 3DS?!

Too bad it's not worth it when games require you to update your system. lol

Wow, this is really great news for people who wants to import 3DS games from Japan but don't want to buy a Japanese 3DS. But personally, I won't hack my 3DS because I never try to hack any of my systems just to play a few games.

Too bad I don't have a flash card that works on my 3DS, that'd be pretty cool if I wanted a game only in Japan, or something like importing Bravely Default since the US is getting it later.

Thanks for posting! The only game I can think of that I would want to import would be the Attack on Titan game.

Good for people who import, but I personally prefer to wait til mine comes out in my area, even with the exclusive KH FMs we eventually got them and I have the patience of a saint.  Additionally just most games I want are globalized and rarely region exclusive

Thanks for the info!

Btw to anyone here, don't directly link to the hacks. We can't allow that.

EDIT: Nvm you can, go crazy.

I have all the required equipment, except that dreaded force update if you want to play x game.

Was so looking forwards of importing Digimon ReDigitize Decode. #hypegone
