You awake for the first time. You try to recall what has brought you here, but nothing comes to mind. You see others around you, also waking up for the first time. Confused, you sit up as a voice echoes all around you.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Boys and Girls,

Welcome to the Amnesia Games!

You have been allowed to remember three things

Your name

Your goal in life

And your skills in combat

And some of you don't even have one of those!

I have brought you here

From all over the omniverse

You each have an interesting story

But none of you know it

Because I have taken your memories

And the only way to get them back

Is to play my little game

So have fun

I'll be in touch

And the voice goes silent.

Mission 1: Interact with each other! Find out everybody else's name. One memory will go to each group at the end of the mission.

Renton 'Ren' Kisaragi, Neena Mors, Switch, and Noah Himitsu awake in a dense forest.

Walter Evergreen, Joshua Akira, Dom Locke, and Bronshu Wes awake near a bubbling spring in a flower meadow.

Morgan Etiam Vinctum, Mes Orem, Wolf, and Rexon Wrexx awake in a desert, sand blowing and sun shining.

Sylar awakes at a snow-covered mountaintop, all alone.

Walter heard the graphite form. "What was that?" He went further into the cellar, hoping his friends could see him. "Guys?" He said after a while. No response... How far had he or they strayed?

The Watcher's voice came from every direction in the jungle. On impulse, Mes summoned One Winged Angel and stood in her ready position.

Now, now

I just came to welcome you all to,

The Jungle!

Filled with mystery, danger, and wonder

This area is one of my favorites!

Now here are the catches

First, you no longer have the beacon to guide you

Second, a poison mist will slowly encroach upon your position from your starting point

The symptoms are intense pain, muscle failure, and if exposed too long, death

Third, one of your senses has been completely cut off from the point that I stop speaking

Add that into all of the other numerous dangers

And I'm sure you'll have quite the amount of fun

Oh, and one more thing.

"So do I. Come on, let's go." Marcus replied to Evan. He stepped through his portal, and found himself in the middle of a bustling building. The building itself was dilapidated, like it had been abandoned. There were several televisions around, broadcasting the Amnesia Games. Someone bumped past him, and Marcus continued to look around. There were many small stands selling some illegal goods. Of course, the goods weren't what they were interested in. They needed information.

(I´m deaf?? Seriously nice move Yuffie xD)

The voice began to speak once again, it was just as preachy and mysterious like ever. But this time the level cap of the next area was just too much. "What? We will lose a sense? How could he do that?" Auron thought for a moment, then in the moment he stopped talking, everything just became silent. "Huh? Why all suddenly is quiet? .. Wait a sec? Why can´t I hear my voice?" Said... or thought... who knows for sure now, he was deaf. "This is nonsence... how could he?" Auron entered in shock for a few seconds.. finally he took a deep breath.. he couldn´t hear what others said... he needed to think on something and fast for communication, the mist will appear at any moment.

- Elsewhere -

Evan crossed the portal as well. The black Market surely was a dark and somehow dangerous-look place. He took a look around then he saw the screens showing the game. "So they already started up, huh? We need to find the info Marcus." Of course... trying to get a single piece of info in a place where you could be, ironically, killed was not a piece of cake.

She grabbed his arm. "C'mon man, we gotta go!" She said to him loudly. It was pointless to try and avoid attention from the walking dead at this point, they were absolutely everywhere. Also, some were closing in on their location now. The soldier tried to drag him with her towards the lift Neena had discovered and was heading towards. Neena continued to dodge through the hordes of zombies. This was definitely not her definition of fun. She leaped over one walker, and landed in a small clearing. There, Abisk lay, just now awaking from his slumber. 'Seriously Watcher? Like I didn't have enough problems?' Neena thought to herself, sighing heavily. Then she yelled to the man. "Wake the hell up before a zombie eats your flesh!" Her yell caught a few more zoms attentions, but it didn't matter, there had already been a bunch enclosing in on her.~~~~Sylar swore when a bunch of his cameras and devices went offline. Brooklyn had managed to get a leg up! This would not stand. Sylar placed his hands back on the circuitry. He concentrated for a second. He spawned wires of darkness, and they coursed through the mansion, filling the void filled by the ones that had been blown up. Once they were all in place, he concentrated. He manipulated the carbon atoms of the solid form darkness to move about slightly, form bonds in a different way. Then, his normally carbon fiber darkness, was graphite. Graphite conducted electricity. Sylar smiled silently as it set into place. Of course, he would much weaker for a little bit, using telekinesis on that kind of small scale was horribly draining. Luckily, he had two guard dogs here with him. He didn't come back over the intercom in order to try and fool Brooklyn into thinking that his magic had worked perfectly, and he was completely powerless for now. Hopefully, the young keyblader would be too preoccupied with everything else around him to bother with checking the wiring(seriously don't do it). Sylar turned back to Joshua and Blank. "Soon. Once Walter finds his way to this here room, then you can talk to him." Sylar said to Joshua.~~~~Ryonne nodded, sheathing his blade. This man could probably be trusted for now. If he betrayed them... then Ryonne's sword would be unfortunately bloody. "Umm, no we had not quite thought about breaking down the walls yet. Thought it was a little excessively violent to do so soon." The swordsman replied to Luke. ~Elsewhere~"So do I. Come on, let's go." Marcus replied to Evan. "She left before I could do anything but defend myself...." Joshua replied to Blank, but seemed to be looking in 5 he direction of Sylar. After a few moments, he continued: "...Can I...still see Walter, though...?" He asked, then looking down with second thoughts. There wasn't much to tell him about why he's with Sylar, and should he, anyway? Joshua sighed, not knowing how to use his ability to a great enough extent to fend off against Ryonne. (How troublesome....) Noah stared in a bit of worry, seeing Neena run right past him and Robert toward the lift, while Rija also rushed to whomever appeared to have exploded minutes ago. Noah looked at Robert with an almost nonchalant shrug. After a few moments he closed his eyes in thought and spoke-- "What shall-" ...or tried to speak. Robert rushed into the fray already. Noah gulped at the hordes of undead, but then gave a small grin. Being the last to run that direction, the zombies would be focused on pursuing Robert and Neenah firstly. Theoretically, of course. "The Bibliotheca could really help right now...." Noah felt his chest, and gave a metallic clicking noise. He sighed and set his hand aside. (Not worth forcing open. Not planning on doing so any more.) He sighed, but ran after the lift."If I must continue the conversation with my own input," Morgan began, "I suppose I would ask this Oz,the presumably all-knowing, to inform me of the ultimate truths. Our desired answers for life and existence in itself."

(Responding to Morgan first, then to topic of Yuffie's post. But I must note: graphite is a very poor election conductor. In real life, the electric flow wouldn't work for more than an hour tops before all the electrostatic built up and the metal would either melt or explode, if it didn't melt from the electricity coursing through it melted, and the electricity would probably also be more present in the air, hair would stand on end and slight electricity sickness for those who are very weak to static electricity, not to mention the fact that graphite is a metal that can be turned into crystal if put under enough pressure and- I'll stop now...)Derik laughed at the question of Morgan. "For someone who acts all-knowing, you ain't the wize one in the group. The answer to that is simple:we forge our own paths. If we let "destiny" of "fate" or any of that crap bog you down, your not going to go anywhere in life. You forge your own reasons by yourself. Life is made because there is a need for forging a new way for yourself. " he laughed a second, then the god moderator popped up, and he felt numbness. "I lost the sensation of touch, not too bad. And the poison gas isn't much a problem for me, anyway." Derik laughed. "This is going to be fun." He sarcastically said."I wouldn't worry about that, hon." Abisk stood, then walked over. "They don't seem to notice you if you lie still. I was napping here for about half the day until you all started blowing crap up." He yawned, then sighed. "So, I guess we're gonna need to party up, what's your name?" He asked.Brooklyn could hear a faint sound as well, but figured it was just the house creaking. "I'm coming, but hold on." He muttered, casting Aero on himself and Walter, then he walked to the other cellar door.

(Oh don't worry I knew all that. I do my research when I try to get out of things okay? Anyway, I shouldn't need it to work for more than an hour, and if I get desperate, then I could repeat the process, but that would leave Sylar practically powerless. Besides, considering everybody is like superpowerful warrior, I didn't think they would be too dearly affected by electricity sickness. Also Schemer, prime opportunity for Lira over in the City of the Dead, they're all separated)

"You have it wrong, Derik," Morgan began again. The taste from something as simple as the touch from tongue to lip was gone. It was minor to the rest, but the sudden loss of any sense could eventually be maddening. She continued, "You are not looking at the big picture. You isolate your thoughts with what you think of as the meaning of human lives, not as life as a whole." Her voice boomed louder, but not greatly so, "You'd best look at beings other than yourself or those like yourself for a moment. Think. There are creatures living for but a year: in fact, there are insects living for twenty four hours at most. Tell me then, Derik: what path did those meager beings forge and what did it accomplish?" She finished at last, in hopes that he would take his own wisdom into question this time. "The world revolves not around you, nor just humans."

"Ack, you idiots," this was the first time Noah panicked enough to outright insult or scold others. The undead struck a really random fear in him. "This is precisely how we become the subjects of a voracious feast, so just get to the-" Noah was just about to curse, but thought it through and how strange it would sound coming from him. It would perhaps not even have been taken seriously. He sighed, "Just go. Get the formalities through later."

Joshua's eyes lit up at Sylar's words, but still somehow darkly. He thought back through his memories again and again, continuously considering the possible offers Ryonne had given. An end to it all would be Hell, but it would also be a paradise.

"To which path they wish to take. No matter the shortness of one's life, what they are, and the situation handed to them at birth, be it they are a man or a mouse, they still think and do. For those animals, their path sometimes is t9 be consumed, sometimes, it is to reproduce, other times, they don't make it to adulthood , but only those who choose a path worth choosing for themself will enact thir plan. The secret of life is that there is no secret, everything is here for just the fact it is, even the watchers. What I'm getting at is that there is no one specific reason for anything or one being." Derik responded. "Even the bugs forge a path in life, be their lives short or long, because for them it's still a lifetime of things to do." Derik responded with intellect on the matter.

Harry laughed at the fact that he couldn't see. "Good thing I haven't truly used my eyes in so long. My power with the stars lets me clearly see without my eyes, but with my mind." Harry said. His power was almost like reading aura, but wasn't exactly aura that he could feel. He then rushed over to Peter. "Are you okay?" Harry asked Peter. Peter stood up and nodded. "Yes, I am just fine. I have fallen down so many times now that it doesn't matter to me. Plus I couldn't feel pain now anyways." Peter said thinking about how many times he has fallen in Neverland and how he couldn't feel now. "My name is Peter, Peter Pan. But you may call me Peter." Peter said with a smile. Harry smiled. "I'm Harry." Harry said with a smile. The two couldn't even remember that they had met before and fought on the same side.

(Dang it Yuffie! Well, I guess it's time for Braxen to make some awkward first impressions.)

"Ugh, my head." Braxen moaned as he got up from the ground. He opened his eyes, but he still couldn't see anything. [Well, this stinks.] he thought. He tried listening in order to gauge his surroundings, but could only hear what sounded like a cryptic poet (Derik) babbling about paths, or something like that. He meant to walk over to him and ask him what was going on, but overshot the distance and ran right into him, sendng them both to the ground. "Woops, sorry about that man." he apologized to the cryptic poet.

Robert was starting to get nervous about Noah. Something about these zombies were really getting him on edge. "Come on Noah, get it together!" Robert shouted, and ran over to Abisk. "My name's Robert, and she's Neena. I'm sure we'd all love to sit down, relax, and have some tea, but now's not the time. Come on! They certainly see us now, and lying on the ground won't change that." Robert said, and continued toward the lift.

(Derik can basically cut through a block of steel in a single swing, and he is wearing a ton of heavy metal but ok...)Derik flipped back onto his hands and sprung himself back up. Even without all his sense of touch, his reaction time was still supurb. "No problem, but didn't your mother ever teach you that it's a little rude to bump into someone?" He joked."I'm already up, though..." Abisk said. "His computer must be lagging, or he has a bad connection, he seems to be lagging..." he thought, not really knowing what to do, he just looked around. "So, we got a map of the dungeon layout yet? For some reason, all my gear is gone and I can't access my menu right now for some reason." Abisk asked.

{Dom}

Dom, being blind in the first place and her mechanical eye patch only blocked for a bare instant, wasn't effected by Blank's tactic, but went along, using his distraction to grab his gun from the ground. As she flew towards the window, she twisted in midair to crash through on her terms. She went through the window shoulder first, immediately going into a roll when she hit the ground. When she stopped rolling, she popped up and dashed for the window to fire at Blank with his gun, but he was already gone.

Cursing under her breath, Dom snatched up her gunblade and holstered it. She stuck her captured gun in her back pack, then popped out of the window and started scaling the wall.

{Terranort}

Terry remained seated for a moment longer, then got up to follow Severa out.

"If we are to funnel supplies to people, we have to make sure not to do it to the people we care about." He said as he followed. "That could buy us more time before others get suspicious."

(Finally.  After dealing with a test, tons of homework and a project, I can do something here again.)

"'Breaking the wall down'?"  Bronshu asked all confused like and such.  Scratching his head, he says:  "Never thought about doing that.  But that seems almost too easy.  Although, it's better than nothing, so I'll give it a shot."  Bronshu walks to a wall on the right side.  Pulling out his gravity pin, he charges some force in his right fist and punches through the wall.  He does it again, but to a part of the floor instead.

"Say what now?"  Rexon said when he heard the Watcher's voice.  All of a sudden, things were starting to get dark.  Blinking and rubbing his eyes, Rex says unenthusiastically:  "Great, lost my eyesight.  I don't remember being trained to see without my vision.  Fun times for sure.  Ugh."

Ranco replies:  "I'd be happy to oblige.", rising up from his seat and ready to head out.

Luke started to laugh. "I didn't mean that wall. Not the wall that surrounds us, but the one we can't see normally. The wall that separates us from the place we want to go. Some call it a type of teleportation, but really it is just a secret of the universe." Luke said in a type of metaphoric way. He then took out his claws, sharpened them, and created a tear in the reality around them, creating a type of warp hole. "That friends is how you break down the wall that devides us." Luke said with a smile. "Now, you is first to go?"

(Robert was simply commenting on Abisk mentioning that he was able to survive in the city by lying still on the ground, and that wouldn't work now that so many of the zombies knew of their presence. Sorry, I should've worded that better. As for Braxen sending Derik to the ground, you've got a point. I'll try to be aware of little things like that while posting in the future.)

"Well, it's kind of hard not to do when you can't see squat. Who turned off the lights anyway" Braxen said, still on the ground, when he thought of something. He couldn't remember how he learned it of course, but at some point he learned how to send waves of darkness to the ground, allowing him to "see" even when it was pitch black, kind of like a bat. Braxen pulled the glove off of his left hand, and began sending dark waves from his hand to the ground, allowing him to "see" everything within a hundred feet of him, as long as it was connected to the ground. [Great, now how am I going to do this without keeping one of my hands on the ground all the time?] he thought to himself, when he had an idea. He put his glove back on and pulled the boots and socks off of his feet. [There, now I should have almost constant contact with the ground.] he thought, and stood up. "I'm Braxen, by the way." he said.

[What's with this guy? Is he from some sort of  video game?] Robert thought, and then spoke to the newcomer, "I have no idea what you're talking about, but we can talk about that later. For now, we've got to go."

Blank took off his now charred suit jacket and summoned a new one, which he quickly put on, before addressing Joshua, "When I left, you seemed reluctant to fight Kelly, despite her attacking one of your ally's first. Why is that?", he asked, rather curious as to what his answer may be. This boy wasn't like any of the others he had met so far, and he wanted to know why.

(I was just answering in charater, bro. And OK.)"Derik." He responded, offering his hand to the now blind Braxen.Abisk sighed. "Dose anyone at leasthe know the location of the closest town from here?" Abisk replied. "Of course this wouldn't count, it's a ruined city, and from the few memory's I have about combat, none of the towns looked this normal, and are more rural or rustic." Abisk looked around"or if anyone has a teleport crystal, that could help..." he muttered.
  • 2 weeks later...

"Oh.  That kind of wall."  Bronshu says and scratching his head.  Looking at the tear, he says:  "Sure.  I'll go in first and check things out."  With that said, Bronshu walks forward to the thing.

Neena scowled at Abisk's instant reply. Of course, that tended to be her natural reaction no matter who she was talking to, but why had this been so sharp a reaction. Wait, what had he called her? Hon? Neena scanned her memories, but nothing came to mind. She looked at her hands... No ring. Had she been married? If she had, then she had no proof, not even a feeling. If she hadn't, then why would she react so sharply to some flirtatious moron who thought he was playing a computer game? In any case, she needed to focus on her current situation. Her eyes refocused on Abisk. "As far as we know, the next town is just over there, we have to ride that lift to get to it. Unfortunately, we engaged this area's trap, and we will have to retreat for now." Neena spoke quickly, and on impulse. The assassin had just made up everything she said in an attempt to get this man to move his butt before they were all eaten. "Now let's go!" She exclaimed, sprinting back at full speed towards the lift.

~~~~~
As Bronshu walked through the tear in reality, he felt an enormous pressure, unlike anything even Luke would've experienced using this form as transportation. Despite this, the player who had surpassed the Reaper's Game made his way to the other side. He would find himself at the beginning of a long corridor, with only one door, at the far end. Ryonne followed his comrade through the tear, and actively observed his surroundings. He didn't say anything, only grunted. There was an obvious trick to this hallway. Sylar was smarter than to simply leave a place like this untouched.
~~~~~~

Walter walked through the dimly lit wine cellar, with Kelly and Brooklyn following behind slightly. No one knew what to look for, only that if they kept going, that maybe they might find an exit, and if they were lucky, Sylar himself. Soon enough, Walter tripped. As the young mutant stumbled, a young man on the floor groaned in pain. Reiner Highwind sat up, a pain in his side from where Walter had accidentally kicked him, and very confused.

~~~~~~
Mes was rather confused by the time the Watcher ended his most recent spiel. How could he take away one of their senses? Still confused, the smell of fresh air, the moist plants, and the occasional horrid stench of death, all disappeared. Then the answer struck her. Because he was the Watcher. He could do whatever he wanted. That pissed off Mes. She kicked a rock with a flaming boot. It flew high and far, and eventually exploded, far off in the distance. She hated that. The young keyblader forced herself to swallow the rest of her anger, and see how the others were doing. Harry was helping one newcomer, as Derik was doing for another. Mes continued to look before seeing a very panicked looking Auron. She wandered over to him, and tapped on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" She asked him.
(Another note for the desert group, it doesn't matter how you decided to deal with your sense limitation, as long as you are still somewhat hindered by it. Like you can't suddenly carve out wholes in your face and have eyes grow there and your sight is good as new. For instance, Braxen is blind as a bat, literally.)
"Sorry!" Walter said, picking the boy back up. Walter knew from his grunt that it was not Sylar. It also felt... Familiar... "Exuse me, mister. I'm looking for a man named Sylar...for personal reasons..." Walter didn't know why he was so up front with this man. "My name is Walter Evergreen. Who might you be? And have you gotten some your memories back too?"
Neena scowled at Abisk's instant reply. Of course, that tended to be her natural reaction no matter who she was talking to, but why had this been so sharp a reaction. Wait, what had he called her? Hon? Neena scanned her memories, but nothing came to mind. She looked at her hands... No ring. Had she been married? If she had, then she had no proof, not even a feeling. If she hadn't, then why would she react so sharply to some flirtatious moron who thought he was playing a computer game? In any case, she needed to focus on her current situation. Her eyes refocused on Abisk. "As far as we know, the next town is just over there, we have to ride that lift to get to it. Unfortunately, we engaged this area's trap, and we will have to retreat for now." Neena spoke quickly, and on impulse. The assassin had just made up everything she said in an attempt to get this man to move his butt before they were all eaten. "Now let's go!" She exclaimed, sprinting back at full speed towards the lift.~~~~~As Bronshu walked through the tear in reality, he felt an enormous pressure, unlike anything even Luke would've experienced using this form as transportation. Despite this, the player who had surpassed the Reaper's Game made his way to the other side. He would find himself at the beginning of a long corridor, with only one door, at the far end. Ryonne followed his comrade through the tear, and actively observed his surroundings. He didn't say anything, only grunted. There was an obvious trick to this hallway. Sylar was smarter than to simply leave a place like this untouched.~~~~~~Walter walked through the dimly lit wine cellar, with Kelly and Brooklyn following behind slightly. No one knew what to look for, only that if they kept going, that maybe they might find an exit, and if they were lucky, Sylar himself. Soon enough, Walter tripped. As the young mutant stumbled, a young man on the floor groaned in pain. Reiner Highwind sat up, a pain in his side from where Walter had accidentally kicked him, and very confused.~~~~~~Mes was rather confused by the time the Watcher ended his most recent spiel. How could he take away one of their senses? Still confused, the smell of fresh air, the moist plants, and the occasional horrid stench of death, all disappeared. Then the answer struck her. Because he was the Watcher. He could do whatever he wanted. That pissed off Mes. She kicked a rock with a flaming boot. It flew high and far, and eventually exploded, far off in the distance. She hated that. The young keyblader forced herself to swallow the rest of her anger, and see how the others were doing. Harry was helping one newcomer, as Derik was doing for another. (Derik of course won't know when/if he is injured. Fun fact, even if you loose your sense of touch, you don't loose tour sense of balance, balance in a sense is another sense all together, but it's more of a secondary one that we have absolutely no control over whatsoever)"Yo! I Eola prefer a flaming rock not be kicked into me, so please calm down!" Derik yelled, hoping she hadn't lost her hearing."Hold on, Walter..." Brooklyn pulled his teammate back "You can't divulge and give secrets to random people. We never know who we can trust." Brooklyn wispered. "Just blabbering off to the wrong person will kill us.""Whatever. Just wondering, why don't you move via rooftop? Safer and faster, y'know?" Anise asked, rushing to keep up with this random chick.
"I agree with Neena, "Getting to the rooftops would be great, but unless you can find a ladder or spring boots nearby, we have no way of getting up there that won't leave us wide open."
Braxen gave Derik's hand a hearty handshake, "Pleased to meet'cha! So... which way to the beacon? I'm a little near-sighted right now, so I can't tell."
Gone fully through the tear, Bronshu shook his head.  Stopping, he said:  "Guh.  That was new."  He looks forward, seeing himself in a long narrow hallway with one door at the other, farther side.  Folding his arms behind his head, Bronshu says:  "Huh.  A long, narrow hallway.  This seems kind of cliché, don't you think?"  Diasor:  "Yes or no, there has to be some sort of traps here.  Don't let your guard down."  "Right."  Bronshu replies, holding his pins ready.
"'Near-sighted?'  You're better off than I am.  I'm none sighted."  Rexon replies, extending his arms out.  Trying to find his way around, he runs into a tree.  Rubbing his face, Rex says:  "That was nice."  Turning around, he keeps his arms forward, still trying to move on.
"There's such a thing as stairs and martial arts, buddy." Abisk replied. "Unless stairs are too dangerous for you?""Well, he'll if I know. Not like I can fly or somethin'. Remember, the Watcher got rid of the beacon?" Derik replied
"Oh I know it.  I was just trying to give my own joke on the matter."  Rexon replies.
Auron -
Suddenly Auron feel something behind, it was Mes who tapped his shoulder a little, she moved her lips however no sound came from it. "Great... just what I needed...Oh wait a sec!" he thought while pulling out his videogame, it has many fuctions however it also worked like a message box or something like that for the Reaper´s Game, entering the function he gave it to Mes while saying: "I can´t hear anything, we need to me fast before the smoke reach us. If needed please type what you want to say on this!
Reiner -
A dark memory... fire burning, blue skyes and a great windmill in the center of a town. the image changed to a foggy image of a girl with red hair, a green shine covering everything around and then darkness surrounding everything. That was the last memory alongside his name that Reiner could remember before waking up in a dark hallway. He was about to get up when suddenly he was kicked by something ... or someone. getting up he looked closely to the two persons in front of him. "Ngr... be careful where you move!"
After one of them, Walter introduced himself, suddenly the other person interrupted, as he suspected of him... about something he couldn´t understand already. " Whoa whoa! waith a sec! where are we? What do you mean? by your look you could be some kind of enemy!" he said while grabbing the handles of his swords. HE looked one more time, trying to see the people´s reaction.
Elsewhere - Evan -
"So Marcus... any idea where to start looking around? Evan said while looking at his surroundings. The black market area was like a factory enviroment, pieces of crap and metal decorated the area, while some of these worked as ceilings for shops and houses. The screens were showing the Game for people´s enjoyment. A certain thing than Evan though was shameless. "Mmmm ... this place is huge indeed, I wonder why he wanted to bring all of us back?" he said on a thinkful sound.
"It's ok..." He created a flashlight, and put it in the boys hands. "We are your friends... In the same boat as you." His voice was calm, soothing, and trustworthy. He smiled an nodded to the boy.
