105 years ago certain individuals began to manifest superpowers called NEXT. Ever since these beings have taken different paths on how to use their new powers. Some decided not to be bothered,living normal lives. Ohers have used their powers to live a life of crime,having an advantage. The most well-known route however,has been that a select few of them have become costumed superheroes in order to protect their cities using their powers. Taking advantage of this companies began to sponsor these heroes,and with this came the birth of HeroTV in the capital of NEXT activity,Sternbild City. With HeroTv,heroes fighting crime is a commercialized commodity,its helicopters and cameras following the heroes as they commit heroic acts across the city,from the smallest to the most dangerous. This turned NEXT from being hated and scared by normal people to actually be appraised by them. Prejudice towards NEXTs still exists,but it is not as prominent or violent as it once had been. Any NEXT criminals to be caught will be transferred to Abbas Prison,the only prison in the world with cells that are capable of nullifying NEXT powers.

 

Many heroes have come and gone to be remembered forever within the HeroTv hall of fame. These include the iconic Mr.Legend,the first ever hero duo Tiger and Barnaby,and many others. But with heroes many villains have remained as part of Sternbild’s City history,such as infamous Lunatic,the treacherous Maverik,and the powerful Jake Martinez.

 

With new generations of heroes protecting Sternbild City,new generations of villains are sure to appear as well. Either a graduate from the NEXT Academy,found by a sponsor on the streets,or training for revenge,anything is possible within this city.

 

Things to know:

 

NEXT powers: When activated,NEXT powers generally surround the user with a blue glowing outline and turn the user’s eyes a bright blue as well. These abilities can vary from useful to not exactly useful (Such as super sweat),and can vary from elemental-based powers (ice,fire,etc.),Offense-based powers (Hundred Power,Diamond body,etc.),Defense-based powers (Barriers,impenetrable skin,etc.),and even mental-based powers (telekinesis,memory implantation,etc.)

 

Special cases of NEXT powers: There are two special cases of NEXT powers that have no explication,these are NEXT having two powers,and NEXT losing their powers, both of these being extremely rare.

 

A NEXT having two powers is rare and the only known NEXT recorded in history to have two powers was Jake Martinez. (Mind reading and Barriers)

 

A NEXT losing their powers is just as rare,and there are only two NEXT recorded in history that this has happened to them. (Mr.Legend and Wild Tiger) This will show when the NEXT notices that its powers become weaker,or don’t last as much as they should. The powers decrease and decrease until they disappears completely.

 

Sponsors: Most if not all heroes have sponsors,companies that will pay them if they are willing to promote their brand or products. They do this by having the brand names on somewhere in the hero’s costume,where the people can see it from time to time. Considering the Heroes are also treated as celebrities around the city,they make them do commercials,interviews,etc. The sponsors do know the true identity of the heroes that work of them at times. They’re the employers after all.

 

Heroes & Costumes: With sponsors come good costumes to fight evil in. Usually fit to please the eye and fit the hero’s personality and power,along with a catchy hero name. Heroes do prefer at times to keep their identity secret from the public to protect themselves and their families. The only known hero to have presented his true face to the public to know is Barnaby. Usually the hero’s costumes include using contacts to change eye color,using wigs or hair spray as well,to make the hero appearance completely different from their human one.

 

 

Sternbild City: Based off New York City,Sternbild is built in a three-tier style. The Bronze layer (bottom),the silver layer (middle),and the Gold layer (top). The higher the layer, the more opulent the lifestyle. Living accommodations are wide and varied, ranging from apartment complexes to traditional Japanese-style houses. In the center of the city is the Justice Tower, which serves as headquarters for the city's heroes.

Bio: Yuri was born in a big city across the world in a successful family. He is the youngest out of triplets. The middle triplet died due to complications,but its personality never exactly left. Yuri and his big sister grew up together,but they had very different personalities. While the sister was outgoing,he was more reserved to himself,and easily scared. As he grew up he developed an alternate personality,which he claimed for it to be their brother which never left. Of course the family just ignored it as childish nonsense. On their 10th birthday Yuri surprised everyone when he was able to change the color of the flames on the birthday cake. However the power did grow stronger than he could handle,and a fire occurred. No one got hurt,but the family home was burnt down. It was then that the parents were confronted with the reality that their youngest son was a NEXT. So after that night they took Yuri to a huge catholic school to stay for the day,promising they would come back later. They never came back for him. Years later he was visited by a woman that had heard rumors of a rainbow child within the catholic orphanage school. She took him to Sternbild City where she signed him up in the NEXT academy. After graduating she quickly made Yuri a hero for her company. He has been a hero for a year now,and has it harder than he makes it appear at times. 

Curious facts?: Yuri has a multi-personality disorder,however the other personality is what he says is his older brother that never really left,to which he calls Mad Hatter. They change places when it comes time to do the dirty jobs.

Hero Appearance: Rin's hero appearance is rather different than her normal appearance. She wears a rather big white long-sleeved sweater and a black tank-top under that. She also wears a rather short black-skirt and some black tights with some black boots. Her shirt covers her skirt a good amount, so it almost looks like she is wearing a dress. Along with this, she wears black, fake cat-ears and a black cat tail that is attached to the back of her skirt. Rin's eyes are now silver in her hero appearance and her hair-clip is also gone. Her daggers are actually hidden in her boots...just so she can usually trick foes with her cute looks. 

Bio: Rin is an only child, and she lives with a rich family. She is very greedy, prideful, and for some reason envious of others. Her parents support her being a hero...because it only gets them more money.

Analysis and Mimicry: Can analyze anything instantly, understanding everything about it. This includes NEXT powers as well. He can then reconstruct his own brain pathways in order to mimic that power. He can only mimic one power at a time, but once he has mimicked that power, he can reuse it at anytime. A special quirk about his ability is that if he kills someone, he keeps their power even if he switches to another one.

Bio: Sylar was exceptionally smart when he was growing up, able to understand any concept that was introduced to him instantly. People thought this was just his intelligence, but when he was attacked by a rogue NEXT, Sylar found himself instinctually mimicking his attacker's power. He had also been able to analyze the weaknesses of the power, and using those against his attacker turned victim, was able to defeat him. Realizing he was a NEXT himself, Sylar has gone power-hungry, and bloodthirsty. He seeks all of the powers of the city's NEXT. The question is, will he succeed in his quest?

It was a beautiful morning in Sternbild City. The sky was clear. The birds were chipping...and there was an intense high-speed chase. The suspects,5 masked men. Their charges,robbing a bank and running away in a getaway car. The police were in pursuit and the civilians did their best not to get between the gunfire of the police and the bandits. HeroTv was hot in pursuit,broadcasting as it looked for any heroes in the area. As always crime and justice was a luxury of entretaiment for the city after all. Families stood by their living rooms,staring at the TV,the children watching attentively waiting for their favorite heroes to appear to save the day. While all of this was happening there was a clumsy hero who was struggling to get his boots on as he was being pushed out to a balcony.

 

"Get your butt over there before the other heroes take the spotlight!"A well dressed woman yelled at the clumsy Yuri as he pulled up his boots. 

 

"I'm on it I'm on it can't you see I need to get my clothes on?!"Yuri yelled as the woman pushed him out into the balcony.

 

"If the other heroes get there first it will be your problem to get more points for us this season."The woman insisted as Yuri stood on the ledge of the balcony. He fixed his hat as he glanced around the area. They were at the tallest part of the company building. The fall would be deadly,even to a NEXT. 

 

"If I die,would you miss me?"Yuri asked.

 

"Of course I will,now go."The woman insisted. Yuri gave a nod and closed his eyes. He let himself drop from the balcony,hurling to the concrete. He opened his eyes once more and his hands were covered in his famous multi-colored flames. The flames went wild as they propelled Yuri,or should I say,Mad Hatter into the air. He traveled to the scene of the crime,hoping to catch up. 

 

"Another day for a hero."

Tristan looked at the monitors. "Alright men!" He said to his team. "Crime in progress! Let's go! Get those cameras ready!" He looked at the screens. "Another show..."

 

Sho looked at the crime, making sure his costume was on straight. Riding on his ice, he pulled the shirt/girl swimsuit... He wondered what freaks were getting riled over his looks....

 

"This is S1," a clone said. "Crime is in progress... Mask on..." The other Shotaros in different areas nodded THIER heads, and masked up...

"Rin! Wake up!" She heard her father call.

Rin sighed, turning over in her bed and flipping off her gaming system.

"I am awaaakkkeee..." She complaint, leaning up.

Rin got out of her bed, rather quickly changing into her normal school-like clothes.

"Are you hungry?" Her mother asked, opening the door.

"I want three pancakes...and syrup. And I do not want absolutely anything to drink." Rin snapped.

"Yes Rin!" Her mother said rather quickly, running out of her room and running downstairs.

Rin sighed, walking out of her room and soon enough walking downstairs. She took her food, and began to ate.

"There are robbers on T.V." Her father said seriously.

Rin almost choked on her pancake.

"Forget breakfast." She snapped, standing up.

"Mother, will you fetch my clothes?" Rin asked before running upstairs.

"Y-Yes!" Her mother yelled.

Rin was upstairs, getting herself ready. She quickly put in some purple contacts, taking out her hair-clips, putting on her Neko ears, and her mom just then the her KuroNeko's outfit. She put the outfit in, made sure her tail was still attached, and then ran downstairs.

"Wish me luck!" She called.

"Good luck KuroNeko!" Her father said with a smile.

KuroNeko ran out the door, and took the streets.

 

It didn't take her so long to find the robbers. The Hatter was already there though.

"Do you need some help, Hatter?" She asked him.

Sho landed on the scene, and saw two other heroes. "Hi..." He said to to them.

 

Tristan looked at the screens. Picking up the phone, he called the standby heroes. "Hello, heroes..."

As each of the heroes arrived at the scene, a strong breeze shifted the clouds just enough to shine the sun's light specifically on the heroes.

 

"The stage is set." Saidarin mused as he looked on from the shadows. "Now, how will these heroes fare? It should be quite interesting."

 

With a wave of his hand, he sent a smaller wind to ruffle the clothing of the heroes further.

 

"Hope Tristan's getting some good footage of this!"

David watched some of the live feeds from the TV station. he had "acquired" those with some difficulty, but it was worth it. It allowed him another information source on what was going on in the city without stepping away from work. Must of the televised action wasn't of much interest, just small fish, but it sometimes showed things that caught his interest.

From his chair in front of the massive wall of computer screens, he half watched the pursuit of the robbers as he worked on the latest numbers and data that were being sent his way. Doubtless, there were already a small army of heroes converging on the robbers, so the usefulness of going out himself was minimal. And work was piling up.

 

Using a hand held radio, Sam ran through the side streets and alleys she knew so well, listening to the account of the chase to maybe head the perps off. She wasn't sure how she was going to stop them, but she had options in that department.

Tristan sighed. No response yet... "You know the drill. Apprehend, do not kill, and any damage done is coming out you your pay, as well as points. Got it!?" He pointed to the crew "ON IN 5-4-3-2...1..." He pointed to the crew to start rolling.

Bio: Megumi was born into a normal middle class family. Her parents and older brother are still well. She discovered that she was a NEXT when a blue aura started glowing around her body and accidentally crushed a cup by lightly grasping it. Most people would jump right away to play with these new powers more but Megumi tried her best not to use them, but she was forced to use her powers months later after discovering them when she was suddenly assaulted by another NEXT user. She's not the most talkative person around, and definitely not the most enthusiastic about most things, which is why she avoided become a sponsor for any company. Still, Megumi tries her best to help people whenever she can while trying to stay under the radar so she isn't bugged by any companies looking for sponsors.  

Curious facts?: Although she has somewhat of a kind heart, Megumi doesn't have much patience for anything and can be reckless at times.

Mad Hatter looked at all of the Heroes around him. He smiled. "Hey,I would love some help."Mad Hatter said. He smirked and pulled on his collar slightly. "Don't worry Tristan. I totally got this one in the bag!"Mad Hatter said rather proudly as he looked up at the rest of the heroes. "I wish you guys luck. Now I'm going to catch myself some points."Mad Hatter said as he used his flames to propel himself into the air. On the news HeroTV presented the high speed chase still going on and it didn't seemed like it was going to stop anytime soon. 

 

"The bandits are continuing the chase,but where are the heroes?!"The anchorman asked when different cameras aimed at different heroes on the scene. "And here they are! Our city's heroes!!! We have KuroNeko,she's been popular in the past few seasons,racking  up the points thanks to her telekinesis! It seems FreZer BurN is also on the scene! Though just a recent addition to the group of heroes he has proven to be a formidable opponent. What was that? There's another one,Mad Hatter! Just a year into the business and his flames are nothing to laugh about!"The anchorman yelled with excitement in his voice. Mad Hatter flew across the air propelling himself with the flames. 

 

"Time to take the spotlight on this show."Mad Hatter muttered as he backflipped in the air and formed disks of colored fire in his hands. He spun and threw the disks straight at the car. It hit two of the back wheels,the car now releasing sparks. "Whoo hoo!!!"Mad Hatter said. He enjoyed this more than he probably should. He dashed forward as the car crashed into the side. Mad Hatter pulled out one of the bandits,holding him by the collar of the shirt as he then smiled to the camera dashingly. Only doing what he has been told.  

"Mad Hatter has captured a bandit...but the other four are getting away!"The anchorman exclaimed. Mad Hatter gasped and turned around to see that the other four bandits had started to make a run for it. 

 

"H-Hey,come back here!"

"On it!" Sho said. He put out his hands, and shot rapid fire ice beams, freezing the robbers in place. Er, two of them....

 

Shotaro saw one. A vermin trying to flee his crime... As the robber panted his way the dark alley.

 

A gunshot and a scream could be heard through that alley

"Show off..." Kuro scoffed at The Hatter.

He was a good show off however, which made KuroNeko rather envious. However, KuroNeko had a job to do.

There was one more left, which KuroNeko had to take care of quickly.

"Even though you are running and trying to get away from us..." KuroNeko began.

She simply used her telekinesis to grab the back of the robbers shirt.

"Why are you even trying to run?" She asked with a smile.

KuroNeko lift her daggers from their hiding place.

"Robbing a bank is a pretty bad thing to do..." She said with a playful tone in her voice.

"If you need money that bad, why don't you go get a job?" She asked rudely.

NEXT power: Supreme shield. His power is similar to that of the Sorcerer Nobody. Yu can create impenetrable shields and cubes around himself and others. While not usually a good offensive weapon, he can meld these shields however he wishes. He can create immune cubes to bash and attacks his enemies, or shape the shields into daggers as a more personal weapon.

Bio: Yu comes from a rather affluent noble family, and recently found out he held NEXT powers. His family pushed him into becoming hero, sponsored by the family's business, but Yu refused. Of all the things he hated the most, was his family, their company, and any NEXT heroes who become nothing more than celebrities who waste their potential on money and capitalism.

Curious facts?: Despite Yu seeming like someone who hates everything, he does have his soft side, and will use his powers mostly for good.

Bio: Alexander was a poor boy in the bronze district. Many rogue NEXTs lived in his area, and they lived in constant gang-style warfare. Alex wanted no part of that, so he attempted to find some self-defense trainers. Finding no actual businesses that taught, Alexander turned to sleuthing around the area. He finally found one, and the elderly man offered to be Alex's sensei. Alexander trained under the man for a long while, especially enjoying staff and escrima combat. While they were training one day in an alleyway, a NEXT fight started nearby, Alex bade his sensei not get involved, and Alex poked his head out to find out what was going on. It was large battle between many minor NEXTs. Now caught in the crossfire, Alex became a target for both sides. Now in deep trouble, Alex referred back to the training he had received over the last few years. A few minutes later, Alex was the last one standing. If you ask him what happened that day, he'd say he has no idea. Alex soon got himself tested for NEXT abilities, and found out he did have some. He bid his sensei good-bye, and found himself a sponsor that would take on a hero that wasn't so flashy.

Curious Facts?: Alex is indeed an orphan, like many on the bronze layer. Sensei was the only authoritative figure in his life, and he still writes the elderly man often.
