Regardless of you thinking it;s overrated or not,that doesn't change the fact that this is a fantastic game

 

 

Sure there are better FF games or JRPG games in general out there,but you can never deny that THIS is what launched the Final Fantasy series to it's highest peak of popularity and introduced many new fans to the series back when it was released on Ps1 

 

 

This game and Zelda Ocarina of Time has defined generations and generations of RPG fans and actually both set many standards for the genre that was followed by many

 

 

The problem is not within Final Fantasy VII itself,the real problem is within corrupted ill-minded Final Fantasy Fanbase

 

 

One,there is that group of assholes that  talk shit about everything that isn't FFVII and think that FFVII is the ultimate gift from the almighty God and that there is nothing like it....which results into them acting like assholes to anyone who doesn't make FFVII his favorite FF game

 

 

And two,there are this group of delusional pricks with the mindset of: Too Popular=overrated=bad game and shit on Final Fantasy VII just to either piss off it's fanboys or just for the sake of being a contradictory dickhead

 

 

And three,there are that group of people that deems every single modern FF game that came after FFX as bad games even before they try it and insult everybody...and I mean EVERYBODY...who likes a modern Final Fantasy game (Which I'll talk about later)

 

 

The Final Fantasy Fanbase,just like the stupid Sonic Fanbase,is in constant fight between each other,they can never have fun,all they do with their time is insulting anyone who doesn't like their favorite FF game as much as they do.

 

 

Overrated or not,too popular or not,overpraised or not,there is one thing that will never change

 

as a game,Final Fantasy VII is a really fantastic game 

 

 

Don't let the stupid fanbase drives you away from what can be one of the best experiences you might have with a video game

 

try the game yourself,and when you do,stay the hell away from the fanbase until you finish it.

 

 

It's available on PS Store for 9.99$ and on PCSteam....there are more than one way to pick this game up and try it

I do agree that people who call something overrated just because its popular are annoying, and have no right to say anything about it. However, as someone who's played FFVII up towards the end of Disc 2 (At least I think it was towards the end), I will say I don't find it to be a good game personally. I've noticed a lot of flaws that personally bug me as a player, and as such, I don't find it to be as deserving of the praise that it gets. I don't say this just because its popular, but because I can notice legitimate reasons that the game isn't perfect, or even all that great of a game (In my personal opinion, of course). It doesn't bother me when people like the game, only when they try to shove it down my throat that it's a masterpiece that I need to like or I can't even call myself an RPG fan. I can still somewhat enjoy the game, but it's not one that I personally find to be a very good game.

It's Adventure with RPG elements....can you tell me that Skyrim isn't an RPG just because it's not turn based

 

Almost every entry on Zelda on almost every wiki classify it as an RPG.....it's just different type of RPG like how Skyrim and Darksouls are different from almost every RPG out there

 

Heck Mass Effect and Fallout mostly focus on shooter but with RPG elements

 

Even Kingdom Hearts's battle system is pretty much Devil May Cry but with more RPG focus

I like FFVII, but I don't consider it a paragon of video games. People claim that it is the best FF game, but idk....

Opinions are not finite. I have not played FFVII, but I have seen some of the walkthrough. IMO Crisis Core seemed like a better game and it was even 1/4 as long.

Yeah, the Final Fantasy fanbase has always really bothered me. I didn't even associate myself with them back when I was a huge fan of the series. I find that a lot of game fanbases can be really hostile, which is why I try not to associate myself with a majority of fanbases. Final Fantasy's probably one of the worst that I've seen, though. They bicker so often, it's really annoying. (Note: When I said that game fanbases annoy me, I don't mean everyone in the fanbase. Just the majority, or minority in some cases, that's louder than the rest. Pokemon can be a good example when it comes to the people who only like new games, or only like old games).

I personally don't see FFVII fanboys around that often, if any FFVII fanboy tries to praise the game a lot, a FFVI fanboy will try to tell them how much better FFVI is than VII. I think that both fanbases are terrible, but VI takes the cake for making the whole internet believe VII is overrated garbage. They've made a lot of VII fanboys go extinct. VII is VERY similar to VI anyways so I don't see why they can all be friends.

I don't understand why the FF Fanbase are so hostile towards each other. Of the few FF's I've had the pleasure to play, (which isn't many) I've thoroughly enjoyed all of them. If they prefer a single game for a reason, good for them, if they hate a certain one for a certain reason, also good for them. They just need to keep their blind faith/hate to themselves.

I don't hate on the game because it's popular (although I know people who do), I genuinely didn't think it was that great of game and the fanbase for it absolutely irritate me. They are the type of fanbase that disregard anything that came after or before it. Final Fantasy VII is a good game technically and all that especially when it came out and I can understand why it is loved but personally I didn't think much of the story or the characters.

 

I think the argument that the fans make about Final Fantasy somehow becoming bad after FFX is a joke because they probably haven't even played anything before VII to to begin with and probably never played VIII or IX, I personally think Final Fantasy XII is a great game and I even really enjoy Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn (though the MMOs aren't really counted by fans in the main series for some reason).

 

From what I gather it's the VI and VII fanbase that are pretty nuts towards each other and while I really like VI I don't think it's worth arguing about.

I was once told and I'll try to quote it as best as I can, "I doubt you game on a pc and are serious if you own a Wii U, you're nothing but a casual pathetic excuse for a gamer" and I sat there and laughed at this guy (who I only knew because they were a friend of a friend) because I was like how does owning a system make you any less of a gamer? Some people baffle me.

I personally love FFVII. I also love XIII-2. And VI. FFX also looks interesting, might give it a shot. And I'll absolutely buy FFXV. I love all FF games, and I feel like I can't really compare them, since every single one is kinda unique. FFVII is overrated, but by the nine divines NOT bad.

FFVI is a bit overrated too, but I rarely see anyone calling it bad.

The modern FF games like XIII are instantly assumed bad without playing them, which I think is the biggest crime of all. Yes, they do have their problems, but man did I love XIII-2.

Final fantasy fanbase should stop being douches to each other and TRY the games for once, and review them without assuming that the game is bad just because someone else said they are. 

And if in the end they still don't like the game, they could at least stop coming to the forums and youtube videos just to rage, and call anyone who likes the game idiots.
