Who's excited for Monster Hunter 4?

Posted

With Monster Hunter 4 announced to be released in early 2015, I thought I'd make this to gather my fellow hunters here on the site, so if you're excited about MH4, or just a huge fan of Monster Hunter, you're in the right place. While you're here, feel free to share anything you want concerning Monster Hunter, like....

-Favorite Monster

-Monster you hate or fear the idea of hunting

-Armors and Weapons

-Any craziness that nakedness to you or your friends during a hunt

-Or anything in general that makes you love the game

------

To start off, I'll share some of my experiences in this great game.

-I think the armor sets are cool and all, but I'm a guy that needs to customize, so my main Armor set is made up of G-Rank Barioth chest and leg armor, the helmet, arms and waist are G-Rank Brachydios armor, the resistances may not be the most impressive thingn you've ever seen, but guess what, I dont give a jaggi's tail, I think I look pretty sweet

-My pride and joy is my Dios Switch Axe, the Slime weapons might be a little OP, though I've never seen why, but this damn thing is the finest piece of weaponry I've never laid eyes one. The only thing thats stopping me from fully upgrading it are those Pallium stingy Brachys

-My favorite Monsters to quest for are Brachy, Ivroy Lagiacrus, and the Monarch himself, the Zinogre. Its hard to pick which of the 3 is my favorite monster, but you can't deny that these things are epic, both to look at and to fight

-While not my least favorite monster to hunt, you wanna know what bugs me the most about the Rathian? This Flying Wyvern has deadly fire breath, razor sharp talons, and a poisonous barbed tail, what do you think you should be watching it fir the most? Fire? Poison? Its knee?....its knee?? You heard me right, I hope I'm not the only person with this problem with her, but it seems to me that Rathian here has a fondness for putting your face to her knee, then as your getting up after being unlucky enough to get hit once, she's moved over and is ready to run you over again, which makes you dazed, leaving you open to get hit with just about any attack, but most likely getting charged at again. She never gives me too much troblue when on a hunt, but its when I get caught in this stupid loop of her's that sours the mood of the hunt

What about you guys? I hope you'll share some interesting stories

Featured Replies

I tried a demo once for 3 and got wrecked

It seems like a cool series though so if I can actually hunt a monster in 4 I might get it

I AM! I love monster hunter!

I do not have any interesting stories at the moment worth sharing, but yeah.

I got the 3DS one, but I haven't really played it much recently.I'll probably throw the money for MH4 when it gets released, though. I like it enough even though I feel like I have no clue what I'm doing. lol

It's actually Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. =P

But yea, I'm excited for it.

I love the Monster Hunter games, even if I'm not very good at them. As for how I feel about the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate coming out...

I'd also like to mention how this game never ceases to just straight up make me laugh at how the world works, those of you with replies above this one may know, but , and it may not be that much of a surprise, the laws of physics mean nothing in the world of Monster Hunter, hell they aren't just ignored, they're killed and then skinned and carved for parts.

The two things that prove my point the most are the Agnaktor and Diablos. Now, I'm a reasonable guy, I can accept that something can inhabit a volcano and lava. But I think lava should still act like lava, right? This why the Agnaktor makes me scrath my head, cuz it uses lava to make molten armor. So I want to know what the hell the Agnaktor is made out of? If its covered in lava and said lava can cause burns to my hunter then why is it not burning through the hide of the Agnaktor to its flesh then its bone? I still love this Monster's design, but I feel like this is the case with its method of protection

The Agnaktor complaint may not have much merit, but you'll love what I have to say about the Diablos. Like I said, I'm a reasonable guy, but why in the hell does the Diablos have wings?!?! You uave to understand, I'm a guy that enjoyed science class as a kid, especially about the various species in the animal kingdom, also, most of the Monsters have features that make sense, the Barioth: spiked forearms for improved grip on the ice; the Lagiacrus: special back organs made to conduct electricity; the Gigginox (btw firetruck this thing, i hate fighting this thing): its blind, so its naturally attracted to heat, like a torch, even though its useless in MH3U. So why does the Diablos have wings if its a digging animal??????? It confounds me to know end and is something that I've always found bothersome, oh and I hate fighting this thing too

Not to mention that it's impossible to fall to your death, no matter where you jump from. Of course, I consider this a good thing.

MH4MH4MH4MH4MH4MH4MH4MH4MH4MH4!!

Fighting the Rathian is easy once you know her patterns.

I love using the long sword.

I like fighting the Alatreon and the Devil Jho. Devil jho was my least favourite to fight but once I knew his pattern, it got epic for me.

I love the Zinogre theme song. It has that Ooomph to it!

While the Tigrex is not in MH3U, but in MH3P, he was awesome to fight. It's like a barioth but more... angry? lol

I could talk about MH all day long, since I've been playing it for years already. Can't wait for MH4. =)

I'm pretty excited, but I'll definitely buy it Day 1 if they announce a Link outfit like they did in Japan.

Hello, I would like to say that I am very excited about Mh4, as I am a 3ds player the online features to the game almost become non existent in MH3U due to it being local only. This was really a shame when I started playing because it practically made the port useless to me, apart from the event quests for the special items ( you can download these from the DLC section on the home screen for those that didn't know. You get some awesome weapons such as the tenebra). With the online features that are going to be part of Monster Hunter 4, I really look forward to getting to try the online features, making new friends and all together fighting monsters not alone but as a team of friends.

During my experience for MH3U ( the only monster hunter game I have played ) it is safe to say that I have had my share of enjoyable and tiresome fights. The fight I have enjoyed the most would be the high rank Zinogre fight. The music that plays when fighting it is just great. I also really enjoy the mechanics of this fight. The homing balls of electricity that he fires at you are just one of the coolest things, along with his super charged mode, just makes him one of the coolest monsters ever.

My least favourite fight so far has been either the rathalos, duramboros or the diablos all of which are neither exciting or short fights. The rathalos has to be one of the worst only due to the fact that all it seems to do when I fight it is fly around, land to shoot me with a fireball and the fly away again. When trying to fight the azure rathalos for its armour I got extremely lucky farming it's parts and got the whole armour set in just 4 fight ( 3 of which were part of different quests). The duramboros is simply just a pain due to the length of the fights, I never get him to die in under 15 mins, even when use a weapon to match his weakness. The diablos on the other hand is simply just the most boring and annoying fight of them all, he always manages to hit me with his charge out of the ground, no matter how much I zig zag around, and when enraged its near impossible for me to dodge.

I don't know what armour sets people have made just for the looks, but the zinogre set is just something out of this world, the colours are just magnificent, along with the skills make it a really good set in my opinion, and one that I don't really see when watching YouTube videos.

My favourite weapon type is the Dual Swords plainly for the speed and the ability to move around fast and dart back in to continue dealing damage ( go dios slicers!! )

My questions to everyone else is:

1. What's your favourite weapon/ armour sets and why?

2. Best and worst fight?

3. Any thing about the game that just made you think "WOW"?

Look forward to reading further posts.

I don't own any of the MH games yet, but I played the demos for 3U and really want to get it. I'm looking forward to 4U, also. xD

I would totally recommend it, it's defiantly something that you won't regret :)As for my self I can only speak about Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate but while playing it I found that I could easily put 100+ hours with almost no thought, and while keeping my full attention and making me want to keep going for a long time. The only thing I will say is that if you are thinking of getting it, your first thought should be if you want to play online via the Internet with people all over the world through the Wii U, or over local networking using the 3DS ( take this into consideration due to only being able to enjoy online with people in the same room could be a bit limiting if you don't have friends with a copy of the game )Even though my younger brother has the game on his 3ds like me, meaning that local play is feasible, I never find time because of work and him still being at school.Planning to keep this topic going so will be checking a few times a day, those of you who want to chat don't feel that your post will get ignored, as I will be making regular visits.

I'm considering getting it on both Wii U and 3DS, so that I can play on the bigger screen when at home, or on the go if I want to. xD Although for multiplayer, online would be a much better option for me since I don't know many people offline who want this game.

That's a good idea, just remember the data transfer you can do keep both versions of the game the same. Sounds like you will be farming mostly online, and then destroying the village quests one by one offline XDI have always wanted to play online in a group of 4, but the 3ds limits that and I am unable to :( this is why I am waiting for mh4 because it's a 3ds exclusive with online play making me super super super excited :D You planning on getting it soon? Or is it going to be a birthday/Christmas kind of thing?

Personally I won't be picking up Monster Hunter 4.

I tried MH3U which I got as part of a Wii U bundle but the game just wasn't for me. I felt that the learning curve for new players isn't really there or for me personally I just couldn't grasp it. I gave it a try and I loved running around the world but when it came down to actually hunting the monsters I'd get wrecked and I felt the game was more out to punish me rather than teach me or even help me. Monster Hunter is really the only game that makes me feel like a terrible casual player and it was something I tried but I just couldn't get into...

But man Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate looks pretty badass.

I'm not sure when I'll get it, I hope to get it soon, though. :P Like I said, I really enjoyed the demo, and it sounds really fun.

Hey, don't worry too much about getting wrecked in the beginning, and this goes to everyone else that says this or will say this. While I absolutely love this game, there are just the smallest things that could always do with fixing. Your problem is a common one, starting up Monster Hunter for the very first time cam be rather slow, and being the kinda equipment that makes the game much smoother than when you start out takes a good while. If you decide to give it another try, being a bit more patient might help(my first time ever even picking up the game I student really think it would be that intresting, since the very first things you hunt are just dinosaurs and a slightly bigger version of an already tiny dinosaur, I wanted to see some of the real cool and crazy stuff) If you don't, I won't blame you, after all, you did get it a try and it current turn out as you expected did it?

That's the thing, I often heard people say they spent countless hours playing the game and I can really see why. Getting the right equipment and all that is part of what makes the experience so much better.

There is one thing though that I did very much enjoy and that was the multiplayer! That was some serious fun. Honestly though I didn't know what to expect from Monster Hunter but I knew it had great buzz around it and it certainly had its fans. I should really revisit the game and give it another shot though, like I said I did like running around the world haha maybe I'll just have to take my time and get used to the game instead of instantly thinking I'll just get really good at it xD

I totally understand where you are comming from also, when I first picked up the game demo I was turned away by the camera controls, I found it really hard using the 3ds and having to use the D-pad on the touch screen was a bit of a stretch but once I had a longer try I got used to it and havnt looked back from buying the game. I would just say that if there is something that makes you think "this isn't for me" just persevere for a bit and once you get into it, I am more than certain that you will think of it as money well spent.I will let you know that I don't ever plan to put this game down :)
