It's my belief that signatures should be removed altogether. You know, focus should be given to the content of posts, rather than the contents of one's signature. However, I realize removing signatures would upset a lot of people.

 

So, as a compromise, does anyone mind if I disable signatures from being seen by default? Users would have the option to go to their "Control Panel" and enable signatures. What do you think?

Think about your arguments, guys, lol. "if people dont like them, they can turn it off" is no more convincing than "if people like them, they can put them on".

it is more convincing since the majority wants in enabled. what would be the point of having it disabled by default when only a minority would keep it that way?

Off subject here... but I think moving GIF images in sigs or Avatars should be disbanded... they make some people's computers slow... mine especially...

I reckon so too, although my computers fine, it just draws your attention away from the thread and posts. Plus their not really needed. All you really need is a Avatar, and one not moving.

 

Also just thought of something, when your signing up you can enable Signatures there and then, while still being able to enable them from your CP after you have signed up.

Just so then less people ask, and prevents Spam.

I ma with DCiuch here, remove them all together... I mean relly, you could speed up the website if you remove the pics from there and that means a more acessable area for members. All together just remove them.

I definitely wouldn't remove altogether. This discussion is just to disable by default, but still allow the option to enable for registered members. However, it looks like most people prefer the way it already is, so I'll go with that.

As long as you can turn them off and on as you wish, it seems like a good idea.

in one of those boxes it lets you see other peoples sigs, im not sure if it is the right thing but that is what i think

I think its a terrible idea altogether its like Cricket was saying its not going to have any bearing on the quality of posts, but I do agree gifs are somewhat distracting. Sigs and avatars are symbols of people's styles and individuality. That individuality being taken away will just make the forum look bland and uniform even if its somebody's choice to see it. No offence but I'd swear the avatars are going to be next.

The only problem I've had with RPs is that some go completely Snickers-$#!t crazy. I mean I was once *killed* by Liraxus because I didn't want to take over the site with RP. What effin' sense does that make? At least SoraKing3 stopped. But back on topic, I don't care either way, but I think DC is getting a little too busy and too Corporate Executive Democracy meh-heh.

I vouch for Ventuswind. Just because someone has a negative opinion on a mod is only fair as long as it's non-aggressive. Ventuswind is clearly not pissed, just negative about DC's past comments like people who preach no the news and what people expected of Obama. PS:It's a bad idea. A GOOD idea in my opinion is disabling the auto-smileys in the chat. It's highly annoying when you forget a space and someone thinks for a second that your sticking your tongue out at them.
