FINAL FANTASY series sells over 110 million units worldwide

Square Enix has announced in a press release that the FINAL FANTASY series has sold over 110 million units worldwide.

 

They also provided updated numbers for Dragon Quest which has hit 64 million units worldwide and Tomb Raider with 42 million units worldwide.

With 40+ Final Fantasy games and various ports to different consoles, that's actually very underwhelming.

I wouldn't consider length a determining factor.  You can still play a long game casually.
