Whose Line It Anyway is a improv comedy show that originated as a British television show in 1988 and ending ten years later; it then got an American version on the ABC Family channel and began airing that same year until 2007. Last year, the show got a revival on the CW and ran for two more seasons from there and is currently set to air an eleventh season on the CW in Fall 2014.
Now, those of you who know me best know I love most forms of comedy and improv is one of my favorite forms of them all. Its very quick paced and well thought out for something that has to be done in a manner of the comedian thinking on their feet for the most part and I commend it for that. Whose Line is a great example of showing improv at its finest, not just with the compilation I showed at the top called Scenes From A Hat, but from all sorts of other games like Party Quirks, Lets Make A Date, Questions Only, and much more. Not only do you grow to love the comedy and the games, but the people who do them: Drew Carey, the host, as well as regular performers Wayne Brady, Colin Mochire, and Ryan Styles, and even the occasional perfomers like Greg Proops and Brad Sherwood. As you can see there were even some special guest spots like Robin Williams and Whoopi Goldberg, another great aspect of the show.
Though, if you ask me, the series that you've been shown in the compilation, is a lot better than the newer series on the CW, and that only really has to do with the replacement of Drew Carrey for Aisha Tyler, who unfortunately doesn't have the same charisma that Drew had back in the day. Also, the format of the show is a little off compared to back then, but maybe that's just me and my rose colored glasses talking. Still, the show is funny and I continue to support it in hopes that it can only improve.
Boy did I ramble on about that. lol I can't help it, this show is part of my childhood and my understanding of comedy. Heck, I was so enamored by this show a year back I was considering making another forum series that involved a Kingdom Hearts edition of this show in script format-oh God, did I really say that out loud. Well uh, heh heh, needless to say, that idea sort of got scrapped. I mean, I don't think anybody would really enjoy it anyway... would they? I mean, maybe if you learned more about the original, you'd like to see a KH version right? Right? Er, i-it's just a suggestion, I'm just, you know, heh, t-throwing it out and everything... er.... f-feel free to discuss Whose Line now, I'm just gonna go. *runs and hides*
