Weedanort's Reviews: Soul Eater

Posted

Creator's Note: I do know that a new Soul Eater anime and manga debuted some time ago, Soul Eater Not!, but that will be for another time. At least when the manga finishes, the anime is already over.

(Creepy image damn)

Soul Eater: created by Atsushi Okubo in 2003, while the anime debuted in 2008, pleased many manga/anime fans in many ways. Is it worth your while?

Before I decided to watch Soul Eater, I had mixed feelings about it. Was it scary, was it funny, was it serious? I didn't know what to expect.

After my friends (Mainly Yellow Flash, spiderfreak1011, Firaga Sensei, IItNeverGetsBetterThanThis, and ZefiroTera47) were telling me to watch it, I went like "FINE", and decided to watch it.

Keep in mind that Soul Eater has two different stories, the anime version, and the original version (manga). The anime follows the manga up to a certain point, and from there on, it has a different ending.

What do I really think about it? You'll see :)

Story?

The story... It was surprising to be honest. I didn't think the story would go like that, to such awesome proportions. Obviously, I won't spoil this story, so if you want to find out, you'll have to see for yourself :)

It's really surprising, with a decent amount of plot twists, and surprisingly touchy, and badass moments.

Characters?

At first I thought the main character was Soul Eater, everybody knows about him. But when I found out that he's not the main character, I was shocked. The main character is actually even better than him, in my opinion xD

There are many characters that are badass, basically. Good, and bad characters have their own way of being badass, and the fights they have are astounishing. Especially one fight that the first villain has with one of the good characters, their fight was beyond anything I imagined!

Graphics?

For an anime that premiered in 2008, it looks really good. The style of animation is very different from your normal anime design, which gives its own charm.

That moon is still creepy as firetruck.

Majora's Mask much?

Music?

At first I thought the music wasn't fitting. But the final villain's theme, Black Star's theme, and Death the Kid's theme were the ones that I was really pumped to listen. And the second opening as well, Black Paper Moon. really fitting for that time of the story!

Overral Rating?

If you're looking for a different kind of anime, with it's own charm, then Soul Eater's your choice :)

I give this one (from Newbie to No Comment), a Groovy :)

Great story, great characters, and a really good anime in general!

Dude, I love Soul Eater, it's one of my favorite anime series! The art style is beautiful, the English Dub is superbly well done, and the characters, humor, plot and overall appeal are amazing! I especially loved the ending theme: "Strength" and I agree that "Black Paper Moon" was also well done. My favorite characters were Death the Kid, Lord Death, Soul, Tsubaki, Black Star, Death Scythe, Stein, Crona and Medusa, along with a handful of other ones. I agree with your review, the anime is definitely worth watching! :D

Soul Eater was my first anime and I always go back to it wherever I am. The music is on my ipod, used for ringtones, I sketch the characters...it's a unique anime. It never fails to make me laugh. Hooray for Excalibur! x'D

dat moon ._.

Great review! :D Also, the manga's actually finished in Japan. It apparently ended recently, I'm still not caught up though. xD
