I've enabled the tagging system across the whole forum and other areas of the website, so if I've done this correctly, you should all be able to add "Topic Tags" to new topics that you create. I hope that this improves the usability of the website and is a fun way to add extra clarity to your content. (And please be sensible when using tags. )

 

I'm also thinking about some future forum structure changes. This isn't anything that would happen soon, so don't be alarmed, but I'm considering seriously cutting down on the amount of forums that we have here, and would like to know everyone's thoughts so that I can make the best possible decision when I re-visit this in a few month's time. So, what do you think about the following:

 

- Merging all of the "Kingdom Hearts series" forums into a single "Kingdom Hearts discussion" forum?

- Merging "Introduce Yourself" with "Real Life and Personal" to create some kind of "forum lounge"-style area?

- Merging the FF and Pokemon forums back into "Video Games"? (This one is a non-brainer, imo, considering that those topics can simply be tagged with FF and Pokemon.)

- Merging "Video Games" and "Media"?

- Merging "Forum Games" and "Random"?

 

(Keep in mind that now we have a tagging system, and tags can be added to topics to help clarify their meaning, which might mean that having many forums is less necessary. Eg. People can add a "KH3" tag to topics and we can link to this tag search rather than having a whole forum for it. But I'd still like to hear the thoughts of everyone.)

I think combining some would be useful without looking cluttered like Random and Forum games, Video Games and Media, and Introduction and Real life/Personal . However combining all KH forums might make that forum look disorganized and cluttered IMO. Plus I feel it downplays that forum when the main reason to join here is Kingdom Hearts . This is clearly just my preference though - nothing more .I would be ok with a different approach bc I simply roll with things .

I see where you're going, Though i think they should make a Megathread for *Introductions* So people may introduce themselves in 1 huge thread, instead of having multiple threads. and Real life/personal may be able to have a bit more organized with Multiple megathreads on "huge topics" Such as, "Have you been feeling little down or upset lately?" and you may post there and make it a Megathread instead of having separate topics. But some require New threads to be posted.

As I said, this is one of those "I'm thinking about doing this later on" things, rather than "I'm going to do this right now", so I really do appreciate any alternative ideas and commentary. I'm really interested in hearing people's thoughts, Because KH13 is a forum i've been on for awhile now and its very interesting. It is great, but could always go for some improving around the way

This would just be too disorganized, IMO. To be honest, the way we have it now kinda bothers me, but I understand why it's organized that way. Also, I agree with what Flaming Lea said on this particular subject.

Hmm... Maybe have "Introduce Yourself" as a subforum of "Real Life and Personal"? But I wouldn't be against merging them.

No opinion either way. Whichever way you decide I'd be fine with it.

I'm against this. To me it feels like Video Games has more activity than Media. I fear that merging the two will result in video game threads always being at the top spot, while other media threads quickly fall out of focus. Additionally, since this is a site focused on a video game series, I think it's better to have a place exclusively for video game discussion, because more likely than not, people coming here have a decent amount of interest in gaming.

I like the way it is now, but I wouldn't oppose merging them.

Ah i see, welp. I'll try to think of something then. haha

All of it sounds pretty good. Personally I'd like if random stayed it's own section. Mainly because I like to look through the random section. There are so many forum games that it would fill up that whole section and it would be a pain to find the things I am interested in. But that's just how I feel about it. Don't know if anyone else would feel the same. Also, what Lea said about the kh section sounds better to me.

Well, I actually preferred it when each game had it's own section. However, that's mostly just the part of me that likes things to be organized very cleanly. I completely understand why we have them divided up like we do now, and I think it's a good way to organize. I don't think there should be any more condensing, however, as it would just be too disorganized and hard to find discussions on specific games.

I'd like for Video Games to remain their own thing. Media posts about TV, Anime, Movies, Music, and Books/Comics/Manga would be overwhelmed by the Video Game Community. I'm sure no one wants to go several pages deep into Video Game threads to find the Naruto thread for example (though they could always just search it, going to the forum and scrolling down a small bit to find it is a more common action).- Merging "Forum Games" and "Random"?

DChiuch has already merged FF and Pokemon back into video games, to specify what game you're talking about they use the tags system.
