Young Xehanort: Vessel or no?

Posted

I understand most of what went on in 3D, but I did have a question that I do not remember an answer to, so I would like to pose it here because someone around the site is bound to know.

*Ahem* When we see Young Xehanort in 3D, did he come forward and inhabit a vessel or was he able to use the timeless nature of the Sleeping Worlds to meet up with Sora and manipulate events?

(Yeah, not a real in-depth question, but it's been bugging me recently.)

Edit:

Clarification: I am not asking whether Young Xehanort is a vessel for the True Organization. My question is whether he had a vessel during 3D or was using the Sleeping World's timeless nature?

Young Xehanort is definitely a vessel for the True Organization and yes, he infiltrated the Sleeping Realm like all the other vessels.

He is Xehanort's past self, and is a member of the Thirteen Darknesses, so yes, he is a vessel for Xehanort's ultimate endgame. :)

so, you think that he used the Sleeping Realm to physically meet up with the rest of the organization and manipulate Sora?

Young Xehanort is definitely a vessel. I mean he has his own mother freaking chair in the World That Never Was. And he's also member of Xehanort's 13 seekers of darkness. He is Xehanort after all.

Young Xehanort was giving a task to gather all the different incarnation of Master Xehanort from different timelines and gather them to the World that Never Was. And his other task was to make Riku a vessel but he was immune to darkness so he target Sora to make him the thirteenth vessel.

I understand that. That's not what I asked about.

Were the 13 Seekers of Darkness, who were meant to be in different times, gathered by transcending time with magic?

Nomura: Just as it says in the story, to transcend time one must ‘first’ discard their form. As a result of the actions of the Brown Robed Figure, they all were in a state where they had gained the power to transcend time. The Brown Robed Figure explains the facts. The thirteen were summoned at the same time, this time thanks to Young Xehanort who borrowed that power. However, apart from Young Xehanort, that does not mean that all the members transcended time.

What about Xemnas and Ansem, essentially they weren’t inside anyone, was it due to circumstances of the worlds of sleep?

Nomura: First off, when Young Xehanort made contact with the Brown Robed Figure, that is to say, the Xehanort who called himself Ansem, his abilities were transferred to him. As a result of Master Xehanort tossing his physical body, he was able to exceed time, and this power was carried into the Brown Robed Figure. Thus when Young Xehanort made contact with him, he gained this power. Possessing this power. Young Xehanort functioned as a “portal”, summoning Xemnas and Ansem each time they appeared. That’s why Young Xehanort was there whenever they appeared. Additionally, when Sora and Riku dropped into the worlds of sleep, simultaneously Young Xehanort himself goes into the world of sleep.

Of course he is a vessel - I listed the above Nomura quotes to clarify this as well.  Because Ansem gave up his body YX didn't have to yet was given the time traveling power directly from his 'future self ". TWTNW allowed him to act as an anchor / portal for all his selves to gather .

Okay, that seems to indicate to me that Young Xehanort was using another Nort's body as a vessel during the time of 3D.

so, they wrote laws for time travel and then ignored them in the same game because "plot." Lovely. And I was getting over my issues with time travel being added into KH. Thanks for answering my question.

Well I was never a fan of them including time travel but in this instance it is explained that the power was 'transferred ' from his own self who did give up his body . And you are welcome.

I wasn't happy with the time travel, but I was learning to accept it because Square set clear rules for it. It still doesn't have the big one problem (i.e. altering timelines), but they went and made an exception that is rather flimsy. *Sigh* and there's going to be more of it.
