Yesterday, I had the chance to interview Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi about his new mobile game, Terra Battle. As he was demonstrating the game's swirling, graceful combat system, I asked him how long it took to refine it before he was happy. The answer was much more interesting than I would have ever guessed.

Terra Battle has been in development for fourteen months, and it took Sakaguchi and his team about three months to figure out how to create something that works for mobile platforms. The Terra Battle system has roots in something entirely different.

"I want to make a ballet dance game," Sakaguchi told me. He had created an entire pitch for the title and even took his team to Paris on a research trip.

With Terra Battle nearing release, Sakaguchi says that he hasn't completely abandoned the idea. "It may still be my next game," he says. So, if you happen to download Terra Battle when it's released in October, keep Sakaguchi's prima ballerina dreams in mind as you dance your finger across your touchscreen. For more, check out our complete preview of Terra Battle. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2014/09/01/-final-fantasy-creator-hironobu-sakaguchi-wants-to-make-a-ballet-game.aspx?utm_content=bufferccf13&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer

This industry man.....THIS INDUSTRY!

After he did three amazing games:Blue Dragon,The Last Story and Lost Oddissey ......this is what he ends up doing?

He just became like Yuji Naka.....both left their companies only to end up making absolutely pointless games instead of trying to capture the magic of the IPs they've lost in their own games

The only guys who actually done something right after they've left are Keiji Inafune with Mighty No.9 and Shinji Mikami with The Evil Within

The Evil Within

Insert The Spirits Within. Lol.

Still to this day Sakaguchi's biggest mistake........until this that is....sure the Ballet game isn't bankrupt worthy but still

You literally pointed out 3 games he has done since he left Square and yet you still say he has gone on to make absolutely pointless games.

Also less we forget, he worked on a surfing smartphone game called Party Wave not long ago so ballet isn't that stupid for him. Sure the last big release from Mistwalker was The Last Story and that came out 3 years ago but I'm pretty sure they have other games in the works. If anything my guess would be they are working on an exclusive JRPG for the Xbox One in the same vein as Blue Dragon or The Lost Odyssey (because of the financial backing of Microsoft). Sakaguchi clearly is doing these smaller games because of the smartphone market in Japan, the mighty has not fallen you are just over-exaggerating.

I meant he did pointless games after those three since all he made after those were iOS games

Also I might be exaggerating....but not over-exaggerating

Cuz I'm sure if Nintendo did Mario Ballet you'd be saying the same thing I said here

Yeah but 2 smartphone titles in 3 years since The Last Story. Mistwalker aren't that big of a company and I doubt they can juggle so many projects at once. Like I said, I'm sure another big JRPG is in the works, they just haven't come out and said it yet.

Also, it might not be a ballet game but Mario did have a dancing game already and I both owned it and liked it.

You mean Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix

I had the game.....it's ok I wished they had more remixes of classic Mario themes cuz some songs in the game feels really out of place

Console version of Terra Battle would be it. An MMO.

Well, if it was a ballet game that didn't take itself seriously then maybe it would be alright...

Good let's hope they transform the dream eaters to that bullet game..

That's the one yeah.

Dancing Stage Mario Mix was definitely one of those games where I look back on and think, "damn it really could've benefited from DLC or something" but alas that was a GameCube game and I doubt another one is in the works any time soon if at all.

Yyeah,that would've benefited from being a WiiWii U game

Konami nowadays seems to have abandoned the Dance Dance Revolution franchise(Y'know, just like everything that isn't titled Metal Gear,Pro Evolution Soccer or Silent Hill) in general so I doubt we'll ever see Mario in another dancing game

I'd buy it, the industry's been oversaturated with shooters and other gritty, brown games lately and it's been too long since we've had a damn fine ballet title.
