How am i?

I AM VERY UPSET! >:(

No color writing today because im going to internet rant on how upset i am.

I asked my parents if i could sell something and donate the money to charity and my father told me no. Granted, I wanted to donate the money because i want to enter a contest that demands it, but im angry at his answer. He said i COULD  sell something and keep the money though, which is stupid. I would understand if he said no if i was using his own money, but i told him i would be selling something of my own and donating that. I also would understand  if he said no if i was going to use the money for something stupid like, idk, a selfish indulgence, but no, what he is saying no to, IS ME DONATING TO CHARITY. I also told him that I wanted to do it for the contest but he wouldn't answer me.

WHAT KIND OF PERSON DENIES YOU THE RIGHT TO DONATE TO CHARITY.

Im mad because if I want to help people and donate to charity and make a difference in the world, no one should be able to tell me no! No one should be able to tell other people that you can't spend your money for a better cause, or try to help people, or do something good for someone else.

This is just another thing that makes me upset in my life. I get im bratty, but in times like these, i really feel like Im the one who is right.

I feel like I'll cry. :

How dare someone, even if it is my father, try to tell me I can't do something that I think is right. Even though I was going to do it for a contest, I also was glad to donate to charity, and I'm very angry at my father for telling me no, and my mother for supporting him.

Im sorry :( I don't get why he said no. Charity seems like a pretty valid reason to me. How odd he would say no.

Dude, calm down, there has to be a reason for them to say no. And if there isn't one, well, they are your parents after all, even when you are right you aren't the authority there, and, as my parents, may tell you that you aren't...

He said only rich people should donate to charity. It's true we're hard pressed for money but we aren't THAT hard pressed. And he was perfectly fine with me using it to buy something for myself and keeping the money, but not for charity. Plus, the minimum needed to donate was one dollar. A dollar.

I get I'm being bratty, but I honestly feel just because they're your parents doesn't make them right. Just because someone is authority doesn't mean they SHOULD be in some cases.

And no one, not even parents, should have be able to stop you from helping someone in need as long as it doesn't inconvenience someone other than yourself.

Giving is greater than receiving. That rule knows no class.

Thank you Amber Cole :)

And OMG it's Amber Cole!

If it's your possession you're selling then it's your money to use as you wish. If you can spare it then anyone can donate to charity.

Wait, what charity are you donating to? There are some charities out there that are true charities, and there are companies that advertise themselves as 'charities.' Maybe your dad is on to something?

No, my father didn't even know which one I was talking about -.-

I just said "Charity" and he said no. I know him well enough to know he was just being his stubborn self. >:(

I was planning on Make-A-Wish, or St, Judes Childrens Hospital.

I don't know how old you are, but if you're using your own money, why should your parents be the ones to decide whether you can do it or not? Though maybe he thought that if you use the money to buy something to yourself, they don't have to=money saved. But of course I don't know your situation that well so can't really tell.

Anyway, I think it's not fair. :/

I'm 16. (Yes, that's right KH13, you know my true age now! It's no longer the Blossom mystery)

I do live under my father's roof, but in this situation I wouldnt be using any of their money, I would be using my own from selling something of mine I didnt want anymore. If they made the argument that they bought that item for me, I would just sell something a friend gave to me if it was alright with that friend. But I agree though, it's my money, I  should spend it how I want to. Plus, it's not like Im blowing 300 dollars on alcohol or drugs like some teens, or spending it all on designer clothes, or some selfish or irresponsable indulgence.

I just want to donate 1-5 dollars to charity. >.>

Do you think you can just donate money anyway? I know I shouldn't be telling someone to disobey their parents, but I'm not encouraging something negative. You should go ahead and donate. I surely would not let my parents stop me from donating money. And like you said yourself, just cause their your parents, doesn't mean their always right.

i don't know your situation, your family or you too but maybe he, like other says he don't trust charity and such or maybe he was thinking something like "if you have spare money now, it could be useful to you in the future"

but i do think that if you know this is a real one, is your money, you do it because you want and a dollar less at home is not big deal then i don't see any problem if not a parents stubborness or some kind of overprotection.

you tell your mother supporting him, have you try talking to her alone? if nothing work and want donate so bad then do it.... you're choise after that tell them or not.

PS: just a thought, after school your intention is to do volunteering or some other things related to this? if yes this is something you can explain at you parents.

i wish you can resolve this problem in a way or another.
