Firaga 5,947 Posted October 15, 2014 You know, there are just some things in this world that I believe should be done... and yet the forces at hand who can make these things happen refuse to do them. So, now that Nintendo and Sega are pretty much buddy-buddy at this point, tell me: what is keeping these two companies from taking their two biggest franchises, Mario and Sonic The Hedgehog... and making a cross over game? And no: I don't mean that shitty Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games nonsense. That's not a Mario and Sonic crossover. Its just Nintendo and Sega dicking around with each other... in my opinion, of course. I mean, if you like the series, then more power to you. (I doubt many of you do, though...) No, I mean a real Mario and Sonic crossover game. A game where we take the enjoyment and legacy of both franchises and mash them together. Combining Mario's platforming with Sonic's platforming. Combining 2D and 2D or even 3D and 3D. Combining Mario's zaniness with Sonic's mach speed. Combining the colorful cast of Mario with the colorful cast of Sonic, interacting with each other and working together to stop a common foe, most likely in the form of Bowser and Eggman teaming up in what seems like something that should have happened years ago. This shit literally writes itself. You don't even have to put that much effort into it! Just make up a story where the two groups meet, have Bowser and Eggman team up, and then put them on an adventure to stop them! That's literally all you have to do. Say what you want about Mario or Sonic, but these are two franchises that were made to come together in the best way possible. No Olympics crap, no sharing the scene in Smash Brothers, no flash-animated web series which was also heavily influenced by DragonBall Z.... just a simple, crossover game, taking the best of both worlds, mashing them together and making a solid platforming game that fans of Mario, Sonic, Nintendo, Sega, or just games in general will enjoy. How, I ask you, is that so hard to comprehend? 5 Exiblade7, RoxasVen30, Isaix and 2 others reacted to this
darkerturbo 168 Posted October 15, 2014 While I couldn't agree with you more, I do wonder how they could find a gameplay style that matches both games, and the only way I can see it is being something like generations only with mario and sonic, and I don't think that would be right for a crossover game like this
Isaix 924 Posted October 15, 2014 I've been waiting for this pretty much ever since SEGA became 3rd Party.I'd really like to know how the Olymics games came into SEGA or Nintendo's mind to begin with, how can you make a Mario and Sonic crossover and NOT making it a platformer, they are like the biggest platformer video game franchise EVER and they make FOUR mini-game compilations instead? Its also weird that Sonic Lost World got a Yoshi's Island and a Zelda DLC level, but not a Mario level. The Sonic Generations setting would be perfert for a Mario and Sonic Crossover, you'd play through various levels from Mario and Sonic's history with Classic Mario and Sonic(2D gameplay) and Modern Mario and Sonic with the ''boost to win gameplay''(3D mixed with some 2D gameplay) and yeah Eggman would team up with Bowser.Like Generations, the bosses would be fan favorites like Metal Sonic,Bowser Jr and the Koopalings,Wario,Shadow, etc. Nintendo would remix Sonic music to fit their Mario levels and SEGA would remix the Mario music to fit the fast-paced Sonic level and it'd be the best thing ever. But I guess they'd rather work on the 2016 Olympic games rather then making the game that everybody wants. 1 Firaga reacted to this
Shulk 8,623 Posted October 15, 2014 I'll be completely honest in saying that would be one of the few Mario games I would avoid at all costs. I guess it would be cool for the fans, though.
