Honestly, I don't really want Star Wars in my KH, for the same reason I don't want any series I really care about to be in KH. KH has a way of ruining things. Honestly I'd rather have something like Sonic Boom in KH3 since at least they're equally stupid,

But I can't get behind the idea that it wouldn't 'work' or 'fit'

So Sora Donald and Goofy are off exploring the universe in the Gummi Ship when SUDDENLY

a tractor beam

Basically it works exactly like Monstro did in KH1, you're forced onto a world

but this is no world

it's a space station

 

on this station, you meet however many Star Wars characters they can afford. At a baseline, Luke, Han, Ben and Vader, though t's probably for the best to include the droids, Leia and maybe some Imperial officers

 

So the Death Star is the Star Wars 'world'

 

Now the specifics I'd rather leave in the hands of a writer, but there's a lot you can do with this. Sora and company could go with Luke and company to rescue the princess. Sora could altnernatively go with Ben to shut down the tractor beam. if KH3 does end up having a spli scenario, Riku or whatever could go with Ben and Sora could go with Luke

 

In terms of party members, Ben seems like a reliable choice, though I could see them going more of the Jack Sparrow route and have Han Solo as the party member

 

Now if they want to pull it off properly, Sora should be joining Ben to fight Vader for the finale. It's not proper fanservice otherwise.

 

Now the way I'd personally have it is the world ends with Luke and such escaping (while Ben dies) and that's the end and you can revisit the world like any other after that) and then the end credits scene shows Luke and blowing up the Death Star, but if they go the KH2 route and have multiple world visits, they're either going to have to come up with an original story for going back to the Death Star, or have Sora participate ind destroying it. Destroying the Death Star creates a problem in that you can't revisit the world after that, though you could explore the rubble (and jsut put any treasure chests you missed in there, like with Oogie Boogie's manor in KH1) and it's not like KH hasn't had worlds locked out before, like the Land of Departure in the original version of BBS

 

Other random tidbits, there could be something involving Sora Donald and Goofy trying to disguise themselves as Stormtroopers. The Stormtrooper disguise could even be their default costume for that world, and this could in turn make it so you can talk to Sotrmtrooper NPCs when you revisit the world after the story.

 

Oh and don't give me that lightsabers can cut through anything excuse, keyblades are magic, and it's not like any other Star Wars game adheres to the cutting principle. At ;east KH would have an excuse

 

Honestly I think Star Wars fits better than a lot of other world already put in the previous games. Some people bring up the force as being a problem, but I don't see how, ust tie the concept of using the force to having a strong heart. KH already has the whole dark side thing anyways. Sora could even learn a force power or something, like how he learnt to glide from Neverland. Maybe he could get high jump there, I dunno.

I don't want to see major franchises like Star Wars in KH because Star Wars is a series too big to fit in what's supposed to be a crossover of multiple settings. KH gets away with its multi-world setup because the worlds are all based on self-contained hour and a half movies. Star Wars is a franchise unto itself. If you take the route of containing the world to a single area, fans will complain why another setting wasn't used. If you take the route of broad strokes, fans will complain of something shallow that barely scratches the surface of what made the movies memorable. You lose either way. Disney animated canon is short and succinct enough where the game can hit all the major parts in the movie without losing much. With Star Wars, it's much more obvious what was excluded.

obviously not everyone's going to be satisfied

but the Death Star would satisfy a  bigger bulk than spreading it across like Yavin, Hoth, Tatooine, Naboo, Coruscant and such. They could do what they did in Pirates and make it so you can visit different planets, but I think the Death Star works best in the context of KH, since it's a structure in space, and in theory all the planets of Star Wars would be worlds of their own

I think the big thing of PoTC was the colour scheme. Star Wars could get away with much brighter, more KH-like colour motifs. Content-wise PoTC felt a bit neutered because pretty much all of the mature content was taken out, but Star Wars doesn't need to worry about that.

The strangest we've gotten is probably Pirates of the Caribbean. But at least that was a Disney product so it actually meshed better than what most people would probably expect at face value. In fact, if I knew about PotC being in KHII before the game came out, I'd probably be super against it at first. But when I actually played II and went through Port Royal, I thought "Huh. Well this is different. Feels right though."

 

And that's the thing: Star Wars is not a Disney product and it doesn't have the same kind of feel or presence or elements or anything that would help it mesh well with Kingdom Hearts. I know it's owned by Disney now, but it's not a Disney product. It's not an original Disney product. Disney did not create Star Wars, nor did they in the same way they created all the other films and properties that have been used in Kingdom Hearts. You can't just throw whatever you want into Kingdom Hearts, it has to match up on those standards or else it doesn't work.

 

I don't know. If you want to convince me, I need to see, like, an actual example of the two working together well. An official example, because at this point, I really really just don't see it working at all. Unless Disney actually decides to use the property to make a show on Disney Channel or maybe a short film and then decides to use that or something. I... I don't even know what to say anymore.

I could see KHIII being a game with much bigger worlds than KHII/KH. I think they could fit in Episode IV just fine.

It was never really a matter of not being able to make bigger worlds, it's just that the bigger the world the more resources required, they went for a wide range of worlds instead of a few big worlds

At this point, with Marvel and Star Wars now within Disney, I think the main thing that the series faces is the question of whether it wants to be just cameos and cross overs, or if it wants to incorporate the worlds within the main story. The one major problem I have with a Star Wars world is the fact that the worlds you visit are all supposed to technically be in the same original world, just separated. If you incorporate space travel into the mix, you're not even exploring that main world anymore, and I always felt that trying to get it back together was one of the main driving forces of the quest. Now, obviously, the introduction of the Deep Space level in BBS kind of already hinted at this, but, in a wierd moment of doing something right, it made it so that this set up for how Stitch later arrived in the main world that Kingdom Hearts is based in. With the inclusion of something like the Death Star, it introduces a threat that's almost too much for the main story. I mean, if the Emperor has the ability to blow up a planet, than Xehanort and everyone else really does pale in comparison, and if anything, everyone should be focusing on working against the Empire.

The blowing up planets issue is kinda important I guess, but it feels easy to ignore to me. Multiple Disney villains have the literal power of Hell on their side, and that just gets pushed to the side. Destroying a world certainly isn't a rare or unique skill though, Xehanort has already been shown to have the power to destroy worlds, like he did with the Land of Departure

I'd say just refer to it as a "battlestation" and leave it at that. The only scenes referring to the planet destroying ability happen before my suggested scenario.

I can't see Star Wars being in KHIII for the sole fact that George Lucas himself has a very strict policy when it comes to his properties. A Darth Maul game was going to be made but was shut down because the creator's vision was manipulated by George Lucas and his "input". He would never allow this.

You still can't put Star Wars in the game without acquiring the rights. Even if Disney does own the Star Wars franchise. 

Everyone who is getting all upset because Star Wars has been mentioned as a possible interest for KH III need to get over themselves and give a SOLID REASON why it wouldn't work.

I agree, even though I haven't seen much of Rebels. From what I can tell, it does carry itself in the way that I think could work in the KH setting, though. Clone Wars would be less likely considering its sort of "old news" now.
