They've definitely got a great lineup this year. Of course, a sequel to my favorite game is taking my most anticipated spot. xD

Our anticipated games only make sense, that's all. xD

Yep. Of course, a lot of Nintendo's upcoming games are worth being most anticipated. :P

So, I'm not sure anyone talked about this yet, but Xenoblade Chronicles X is so freaking huge, it almost needed 2 discs.

I saw that, but forgot to report on it. :/ This definitely sounds like it's the biggest Wii U game so far. That just makes me even more excited to try it!

This title is running to challenge Zelda for Game of the Year this year. Like, I believe both titles will be in the run for GOTY at this year's game awards show. I see no reason for either to not be in the run.

I'll be incredibly disappointed if neither one ends up getting at least one GOTY nomination (Of course, I feel like Zelda's guaranteed a nomination since it's such a popular franchise). I still want to see more of Zelda U before I feel like I can have a solid opinion on how I feel it will be (It looks fantastic so far of course, but I'd really like to see more gameplay some time soon), but I definitely believe both will deserve a shot at becoming GOTY. Of course, everyone here knows what my personal game of the year will be. xD

Nintendo Japan has announced a presentation focusing on Xenoblade X will be streamed later this week! This presentation is going to focus on the game's world, so we'll probably see even more in-game areas we'll be able to explore when we visit Planet Mira! It seems like this presentation will only be streamed in Japanese, but those of us outside Japan can still tune in. It's going to be shown on Friday (Times for different timezones are listed in the source link).

So... Anyone else going to watch this? I'll be waking up really early to watch it, but it's definitely going to be worth it. xD

Well, we've only got one character this week. Either way, I should report on him, since he seems to be an important character.

Anyway, this bio is for Maurice!

Posted Image

This is the same guy who appeared on that screen on the building in New Los Angeles during the E3 2014 trailer. According to my crappy Google Translate translation of his bio, Maurice is the president's aide (Or was back when he was on Earth, as I said I'm running off of a really bad translation here, I can't figure out if that was past or present tense), and a representative of the human population on Planet Mira.

Source/Bio:

I honestly doubt he'll be a party member, but instead an important NPC in the story. Hopefully we'll get on to more party members soon, since a few other characters who were shown along with Login/Logan and the others in Dolls still haven't received bios.

Oh boy... we've got a TON of news today. Prepare for a long news post, everyone...

First off, the Xenoblade X stream was aired a few hours ago! We received a lot of new details on Planet Mira, including information about NLA, the different continents, and some of the inhabitants of the planet. Nintendolife translated and summarized the entire stream, so I'll post their summary below!

Source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/02/feature_a_summary_of_the_xenoblade_chronicles_x_presentation_and_what_we_learned_about_its_world

Secondly, there's going to be a monster encyclopedia in the game! This was apparently a feature also intended for the original Xenoblade game, but it had to be cut due to time constraints. We'll be able to look at the different monsters we've encountered on Planet Mira, and see what items they drop!

Source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/02/xenoblade_chronicles_x_to_feature_an_enemy_encyclopedia_of_3d_models

Next, Japan will be getting a special Wii U bundle for Xenoblade X, including an art book! No news on if this is going to come to other regions, but I'll let you all know if the bundle is announced internationally!

Source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/02/this_xenoblade_chronicles_x_hardware_bundle_for_japan_is_rather_lovely

And, saving best aside from the stream for last... an eShop page for Xenoblade X went up in Japan, and according to a translator on NeoGaf, it does confirm that there is online co-op between up to four questers, and up to 32 players can connect to exchange information and items! I haven't seen an official source confirm this, but it's still a possibility that this translation is legitimate! The eShop page also confirms that the game's file size in Japan is 22.7GB, meaning the game really was almost too big for one disc.

Source: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/02/xenoblade_chronicles_x_eshop_page_points_to_online_co-op_and_interactions_also_confirms_hefty_file_size

I'll probably edit in a few pictures from the stream as I find them. You can also watch the full stream, untranslated, right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tpzCdnCFNM

So, long story short: Today was a great day for Xenoblade fans!

One of my biggest problems with the original Xenoblade along with how terrible some of the character's AI is, was how much I had to use the wiki.

Glad this gets fixed.

I pretty much bring my phone with me whenever I go to play it so I can google for anything I need to find. xD I'm happy they're adding in an encyclopedia, too. They apparently hinted the 3DS remake of the original might add one in as well, which I'm really hoping is true.

It's going to be amazing... And I'm really hoping the online co-op thing is true. Maybe we'll get to see that in the next stream, since it focuses on combat?

Oh, just felt like bringing this up since it relates to that recent news.

I've got a friend who's fluent in Japanese, and he took a look at the eShop page. He confirmed the online information that NeoGaf translator mentioned earlier, so we'll be able to team up for quests!

Some new stuff on Customisation got posted.

The video is short but it's still something.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WxvPIzZ5ok

Also:

Once you start a new game in Xenoblade Chronicles X, you’ll be prompted to make your own avatar. The immediate choices you have are gender, face types, body size (female character also get bust size) and more.

Going a little deeper into the system, you can customize skin with its color tone, freckles, cheeks for the face, scars, and moles. Hairstyle, hair color, eye form and colors can all be customized as well.

As for makeup, there are options for eye shadow color, lip color, and face paint.Voice selection includes the type of voices like a military-type or a “bro” type, or maybe a “tsundere” voice or princess voice. Each of these voices are marked with their respective Japanese voice actors as well.

Some staff members shared their characters too.

I understand some people's opinions on how the characters (from a design point of view) don't look great, but I'm excited to great my own character and go explore the vast world! :D

Same here, this has been one of the features I was most excited about. Can't wait to create my own character and explore Mira with some friends!

Personality they don't look too bad to me. I'm excited, there's a whole lot of option and choice with the designs and I like it.

Oh, hey, we've got some other screenshots and videos relating to other aspects of the game, too!

As for the videos, the first is Lyn giving us an overview of NLA! It's all in Japanese without subtitles, but it's still nice to get a view of the city!

The second shows how the quest system works in this game. It looks like there's a terminal in town that we can go to, and select quests from a list. Quests look like they're ranked in terms of difficulty.

The third video is a short clip showing the navigation orb we learned about during that last Direct.

Seeing all of these screenshots and videos is just making me even more excited! Can't wait to play the game!

More news!

First off, Monolith gave us some information about how exploration will work in the game, and gave us a better description of how the probes will work! I'll quote an article here, since there were a lot of details.

Just recently, Monolith Soft updated the Japanese website for Xenoblade X with several new details (translated by Siliconera) on how exploration of Mira will unfold. Exploration is organized under “Frontier Net", a system used by the humans to keep track of everything discovered on the alien world. Scattered about the world is a region-based checkpoint system called Frontier Net Spots, which gifts the player with rare materials or upgrades for Data Probes upon being located. Data Probes are add-ons that can be installed at Frontier Net Spots which grant certain benefits over the particular region of the map for that Frontier Net Spot. These are some of the different Data Probes:

  • Mining Probe: Increase production and the amount of Miranium that can be gathered.
  • Research Probe: Discovering secret areas will yield bigger profits.
  • Battle Probe: Players will be given various buffs and effects.
  • Storage Probe: Increase the maximum amount of Miranium that can be stored at once.
  • Power-up Probe: Increase the functionality of other nearby probes.
  • Copy Probe: Copies functions of nearby probes

All of the management of Frontier Net Spots, as well as fast-travel, will be handled via a hexagon grid - called the Segment Map - on the GamePad. Different regions on the Segment Map will be marked according to objectives pertaining to that area, such as quest beginnings, unique monsters, treasure chest locations, and sidequests.

As players won't have immediate access to mechs, the Hopper Camera will be an overhead camera controlled like a drone that can be used to scope out environments, plot paths, and find secret areas. If players ever have a difficult time finding where the next main story objective is located, the Navigation Ball - a Navi the Fairy-like tool - can be used to guide the player towards the next objective.

Secondly, another character was added to the Japanese website for Xenoblade Chronicles X! This time, we got information on Lou, the blue alien who spoke with Cross and the others during the recent Direct (At least I'd assume that was Lou).

 Posted Image

Lou is a native inventor on Planet Mira. I couldn't really decipher much else of his profile, to be honest. As usual, I'll link it below so you can all check it out and see if you can figure out what else it says.

Source/bio: http://xenobladex.jp/character/chara09.html

I hope Ru/Lou is playable, because he's by far my second favorite character at the moment, just behind Elma. The new alien species in this game are fantastic.

Just when I think this game can't look any better we get another batch of trailers and I am blown off my seat. I know a game like this would take forever to localize but please please please please PLEASE at least be a late Summer release so I can play it when I actually have time. >____<

I get a feeling he will be. I remember seeing someone who looked like him flying a Doll back in the E3 2014 trailer. Thankfully, my favorite characters so far have both been pretty much confirmed playable. I just need to decide on my fourth party member for single player at this point.
