A port of the PC version of Final Fantasy VII is coming to PlayStation 4 in Spring 2015 (Autumn 2015 in southern countries). This is a HD remaster of the legendary game that sold over ten million copies on the PlayStation.

And before everyone gets upset. Did all the Toriyama haters want him directing a VII remake? And the truth is now Square's #1 team is developing a NEW game for PS4 and likely Xbox One. Which I get the feeling is a sequel to VII.

I'm not upset about this announcement at all. I own the original version of it on my PS3 and flat out refused to buy this version of it on Steam cause I dislike it. I fail to see why anyone actually expected a remake to exist on PS4.

If they did make a VII remake, you'd get vocal fans from other games (like VI for example) pleading for a remakes of other FF games. Or in the worst case, you'd get people realising that VII wasn't how they remembered and they'll blame SE for a poor remake or something.

People need to understand that a FF7 remake could literally make or break SE. Just be grateful that the game is being released in HD on PS4 and either buy it or don't.

I'm personally excited to play VII for the first time ever, and in HD on PS4 no less. I'm also excited because Toriyama and Kitase are making a new game for PS4.

I thought Dirge of Cerberus was the sequel.

I just didn't like the whole "bait and switch" feel to the reveal. I wasn't expecting a FF7 remake, I've long since given up on it, I was mainly hoping for maybe another glimpse at Type-0 or something. Then Hashimoto himself stepped up and "Final Fantasy VII" flashed across the screen... I must say, it took me by surprise. Then they started showing the original game footage and I waited for it to transition to new graphics... But it never happened. It was poorly handled, and such an announcement should not have been made during the keynote.

Well yes, but it was mostly outsourced. But a sequel would follow the events of that game.

So you're saying like a direct sequel to the actual FF7 game, or a sequel to DOC?

It's the same as the PC one, and regardless of whether or not the models look better than the PS1 version everything else looks like pure shit.

I'd like a sequel on PS4 after the DoC secret ending. But first they would need to bring DoC and Crisis Core to the PS4 so people who didn't play them understand everything.

So you think they're making X-3?

Maybe I don't firetrucking work at square.

I'm just saying that we've had a cliffhanger for like 6 years now.

Same time as KH2 to KH3D. Haha.

At least we got some closure on that with the Re:Coded ending.

I have to say I love FFVII music for this trailer, so am I pumped? oh course!

As you've never played VII before then this is the perfect way to experience it. I personally don't like the game but it is in no way the worst in the series, it's incredibly dated and vastly over hyped. That said, I've heard the PC port of it is a good version so at least the PS4 one won't be bad.

Yeah, I can't wait. I was thinking of purchasing the PSOne Classic while it was on sale, but this version will be much better for me.
