So when you play Birth by Sleep and you move on to your 2nd character, do you overwrite your first save file or make a new one just for that character? 

I would make a new one for that character even though there are only 2 save files on bbsfm. I might overwrite a save file when I'm finished with one of the save files.

I make separate files. I think you can save over your old file when you start a new character, but unless you're short on space, I wouldn't recommend it.

I never thought of that. It could work. 

Make a new one, just to save space. 

And because I have a habit of forgetting which file is my current game.

nope, each save file is that character's alone

and you need all three to unlock the final episode
