Posted January 12, 201510 yr I just finished Dwarf Woodlands, and started Enchanted Dominion. During the cutscene where Maleficent taunts Aqua and Ven, everything kept blurring at the edges: it stopped when Aqua met Prince Philip, but started again on the faeries arrival. Is it just my machine, or some sort of glitch?
January 12, 201510 yr Neither, they didn't work on BBS as well as they could have. The game ran on extremely low resources and the PS3 is soo much better.

January 12, 201510 yr Author Yeah, that and a combination of low interest/pay. I was worried it was my machine or the disc. But a lot of the scenes seem kinda low quality, at least by PS3 standards.

But a lot of the scenes seem kinda low quality, at least by PS3 standards. well here's what I can tell you I've been recording my BBS playthrough, and I jsut looked at the cutscenes you mentioned and there's no discernible difference It could be that you're seeing the focus blur effect they use in some of the cutscenes, which was to simulate a camera's lens focusing on certain things, or it could be your disk or PS3, or your TV. It's tough o say without more specifics. (Oh and if the blur you were seeing manifests as a sort of "lightness" at the edges of the characters models, that's just how BBS' lighting system works)

My tv is smaller, though, so some of it might be the scope or something

My tv is smaller, though, so some of it might be the scope or something I can't really see anything on my end. I don't suppose you can remember a specific line where it stood out that I could zero in on?
January 12, 201510 yr Author I can't really see anything on my end. I don't suppose you can remember a specific line where it stood out that I could zero in on? Not an exact LINE, but as she's taunting Aqua and Ven in the ruins, and Aqua's telling Ven "Terra wouldn't do that". Maleficent blurred on her next line, and Flora blurred on her first line after Aqua meets the prince.
January 12, 201510 yr I remember one of the last cutscenes in Ven's story being very low quality. It reminded me of some of the cutscenes from Re:CoM in HD 1.5 ReMIX.
January 12, 201510 yr Author I remember one of the last cutscenes in Ven's story being very low quality. It reminded me of some of the cutscenes from Re:CoM in HD 1.5 ReMIX. I haven't gotten there yet: I'm only doing Aqua right now. It was looking alright until Maleficent decided to blur/glow.

Hm, well based on that, it looks like you're looking at BBS' built in blur effect, but the wird thing is it's not showing up in my recordings. Granted, I'm watching on my computer, it's possible it's more noticeable on a TV I remember one of the last cutscenes in Ven's story being very low quality. It reminded me of some of the cutscenes from Re:CoM in HD 1.5 ReMIX. That's... not really possible. Outside of a handful of instances the cutscenes in BBS are rendered ingame, quality isn't really a thing in that case (whereas Re:CoM's cutscenes were all prerendered and compressed)

Like on a old movie when the camera zooms in and blurs any motion? That's weird.

All I know is that in rare instances, cutscenes would suddenly look jagged and pixelated for some reason.
January 12, 201510 yr Built in blur effect? Like on a old movie when the camera zooms in and blurs any motion? That's weird. BBS is a game, so it runs on a game engine, and as such everything needs to be simulated. In this case, they have a blur effect they employ from time to time on objects are out of focus. It's not a terribly good blur effect since it was built for PSP, which is why it's not in a lot of cutscenes Then I'm not sure what happened. All I know is that in rare instances, cutscenes would suddenly look jagged and pixelated for some reason. Hm, well first off, it depends where you're looking. A lot of the textures in BBS weren't upgraded, so they're super pixelly, if you're looking specifically at the moels though, then you msut be viewing one of BBS' preendered scenes. I just didn't think there were any in Ven's story. The biggest and easily the worst example of prerendered cutscenes in BBS is the Blank Points secret ending, which still uses the old models from the PSP game (you can REALLY tell with Aqua, her hair is much brighter)

With the scene I'm mentioning, the problems were definitely with the character models. It must be the only prerendered scene in Ven's story because other than that one scene I don't think it was a problem anywhere else in his story. And that's a shame about Blank Points.

January 12, 201510 yr do you remember what cutscene it was? or at least the general place in the story where it happens? I can check my archive and confirm Yea it was the last cutscene from Ven's story. I believe it began with Aqua and Ven floating in the lanes between and then being found by Mickey. The cutscene after that where Ven states, "This place. I've been here before. This is your heart," also had issues.

January 18, 201510 yr Yea it was the last cutscene from Ven's story. I believe it began with Aqua and Ven floating in the lanes between and then being found by Mickey. The cutscene after that where Ven states, "This place. I've been here before. This is your heart," also had issues. That scene is completely prerendered. You can also tell because it's actually two scenes without a load screen between them. I find it odd how they added the Cape to Terra's ending, but Aqua is not updated in Blank Points.
January 18, 201510 yr The only real fuzzy cutscene I got was the one with Aqua and Ansem in the RoD. It wasn't remastered at all, Aqua's old model was there instead of the new one LOL.
