I noticed when in limit form Sora is supposed to use his old limits from kh1.

However, most of them have been renamed in Limit Form usage.

 

Iconic names that have been kept consistent throughout the series, like Ragnarök have been replaced by new names.

Do you think this is a result of mistranslation because the localization team just didn't pay enough attention (despite they did translate it consistently in past installments) or was this change made on purpose because limit form upgrades most of the limits and to show off new strength and powers, the limits received new names?

Actually, I think it was neither. I do believe it had something to do with a nod towards the original Japanese version. Maybe not a mistranslation, but maybe a direct translation, as many things from Japan are "Americanized" as they're translated for NA, it seems. 

They're meant to be evolutions of Sora's powers (Strike Raid is the notable exception since its powered up form, Judgement, is used as the finisher

It doesn't really make sense for them to be mistranslations, Last Arcadnum for example, Ars Arcanum translates to "secret Techniques" if done literally, and the word "secret" doesn't exactly easily lend itself to the word "last"

Now I do think that if the translation team spent a bit more time on it the name would have been Final Arcanum, but it comes down to their choice in the end

It's just mistranslations in my opinion. In japanese they retain their original, classic names, but they since they had to translate some new things to English, they didn't bother to check if some of them had already classical names, like the Ragnarok

 

One of the most serious cases i found was when watching my girlfriend playing it in our native language, spanish. They translated Limit Form to ''Forma Suma'', which would be something like ''Whole Form'' in English

Ragnarok becoming Infinity wasn't so much a "mistranslation" as just an alternate way of interpreting it.

 

Sonic Rave was definitely a poor transliteration, but I like it better because it sounds more like a party.

I'll say, I played the italian version (since I live in Italy) and the names didn't change. Maybe you won't understand but I'll post it.

Ragnarok: Lagunarock in both games (in my opinion it's pretty cool!)

Strike Raid: Aerocolpo in both games

Ars Arcanum: Ultimo Arcanum in both games

Sonic Rave:Colpo Sonico in both games.

I didn't play for some time and I don't remember very well, so I'll probably turn on my PS3 and go check them out

Bad translation. Some of the abilities in 2.5 also have bad translations.
