I admit,Hajime Tabata is doing a much better job with the FF brand than Nomura and the others

Posted

Ever since Tabata took the helm for directing FFXV we've been seeing a lot of news and information for the game unlike Nomura who kept us in the dark for almost a decade and literally within few months not only Tabata gave us two trailers but also the constant Active Time Reports streams which are like his own version of Nintendo Direct but more focused on FFXV and Type-0

And for that alone I give a huge round of applause to Hajime Tabata for being more open and confident enough about his games to tell us more information about them.

Though that brings up a question:WTF was Nomura doing with FFXV all this time?Sure he was busy with the handheld KH entries alongside his position as the director of FFXV(well former director of XV) but he was so silent and closed regarding the game and by the time he gave us information in 2013 it was literally of a previous built of the game that wasn't ran on the game's current engine and then after that it was yet another period of silence until Hajime Tabata took over rekickstarted the project again.

Maybe it's just me but it's clear that Nomura didn't really wanted to keep working on this game over his own series which is Kingdom Hearts.......and while I'm glad he can now focus more on KH3 it still makes me question.....why did it take you so long to think "oh my vision of this game(FFXV) isn't going any further and I wanna work on my own stuff" ?

That's only because Nomura left once he felt confidant that Tabata could handle the rest. Tabata is just following the plan Nomura laid out. The reason we're getting so much news now is because of all the work Nomura put into it before moving on. All this, all we've seen since Tabata took over, was already put in place by Nomura. It just so happens that Nomura left when the details where ready to be shared. That's all. I'm not saying Tabata isn't doing anything. Just that he isn't the sole reason we're seeing more of it.

Tabata has been the best hing to happen to Final Fantasy for a long time, anybody who played Crisis Core knows that

The fact that he can salvage the characters from FFVII while still remaining true to the Advent Children levels of bad decision making should show his talent

not really, no. The basic idea is still the same, sure, but in practice the game has changed very drastically.

That's not true at all. Square Enix decided to remove Nomura from the project. Their decision. Not Nomura's or Tabata's.

The problem with Nomura is he is so shy and awful at HD development.

Dude that's not how things work really as Nomura himself said that Square basically asked him to leave the FFXV project

And Tabata has said in his interviews that he's changing a lot of stuff that Nomura did while trying his best to keep it true to his vision cuz let's face it not everything Nomura had in mind for the game would work especially for the Final Fantasy brand

The difference between Tabata's built and Nomura's vision is like night and day man

I absolutely loved Crisis Core ^_^

Hopefully division 2 and HexaDrive can remaster Crisis Core after Type-0.

As long as the story remains Nomuras vision then I'm perfectly okay with it. One thing he can do for sure is make a good story

I would pay good money for this

Tabata's storytelling blows anything Nomura has attempted out of the water

Dat ending.....I literally cried

And yeah just by experiencing the story of Crisis Core I agree that Tabata's storytelling is much better

beyond that, the gameplay and ending worked together beautifully, which shows that Tabata isn't merely a good storyteller, he understands the medum of video games

Not that you're wrong, because Crisis Core was fantastic, but I don't think Tabata has come up with anything on his own, story-wise. He usually builds off other people's stories. Again not a bad thing, if he takes base with a Nomura story and builds it then I think it'll be great

well if we're taking that route, KH is largely Nomura working off of Disney's source material

As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter who makes something, it's the person who executes it well that deserves praise

wut?He did come up with Type-0 story which wasn't written by Nomura btw

This one is more a "me" thing then, because I personally didn't care for type-0's story that much...but that's me

Nomura's not even a writer, he's an artist. You don't see him credited for any events.

Usually, Final Fantasy and even Kingdom Hearts games are written by Nojima, Watanabe or Toriyama. With other notable names over the years including Kitase, Matsuno, Akiyama and Sakaguchi. Obviously other people have written games over the years but these are the key people.

Huh, I always figured since interviewees called him "the brains" that he did all the art, writing and planning while everyone else made it come to fruition. The more you know

he makes the concept, generally gets the final say, and makes the character designs

As director he's involved in eveyr other aspect as well, but it's other people doing the heavy lifting

Yeah, it will most likely come to Steam sometime after it comes out for PS4 and Xbox One since SE have started putting their recent FF games on Steam. And honestly, I would love to see it come to PC so I can see what kind of PC mods people will make lol.
