This thread is probably gonna be long forgotten about by the time SE get even 3D done, but in the possibility they decide to finally make the generation jump for KH which I hoped would of been made by now to hopefully the PS3. (if SE are still deadset on last gen visuals they'll go for the Wii). Im hopping the series will look like what Insomniac Games did for Ratchet & Clank a Crack in Time (since back on the PS2 they had similar visual styles)

Hmm....personally i think it could go well with KH. I mean it looks good in the CG cutscenes of KH (ok maybe not Donald and Goofy but still ) so maybe just a little less CG-ish and it could be good.

Whenever they get to "the KH game on a console", I'm personally hoping for a higher quality of the real-time cutscenes, because Disney characters look really awkward in CGI and even more out of place with the SE characters than they already do.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone else said. And I LOVE Ratchet&Clank. One of the funniest games I have ever played. Thanks for posting these vids up because it's good to remember the good times of Ratchet

Im not sure why Donald and the others look so off in FMV scenes but I think if they lower the polygon count and add an animation technique Insomniac utilised in A Crack in Time called self-shadowing SE could make them blend in more and make it look natural like with Ratchet & the green guy Qwark.

 

Also I think its unlikely SE would release KH on the 360, I mean they haven't released any on a microsoft system before so theres a chance they cant guarantee the interest the non KH fans

It is. In the interviews, Nomura has expressed interest in putting KH on the PS3 and the Wii, but the Xbox is never mentioned. If Microsoft makes a deal with SE and Disney like they did for FF13, it might happen, but even then it's rather unlikely.

It costs less. Haven't you noticed how they keep reusing the PS2 models? That would all be out of date after a HD game, they would probably have to remake a bunch of cutscenes in HD as well, not to mention making a new model for every character (Almost literally, if KH3 is about saving people)

In short, Square wants to keep using the PS2 stuff for as long as possible.

Also, KH is supposed to be for the most part cartoony. Besides, Donald and Goofy looked really damned creepy in the KH2 ending. I don't want any more of that.

True but Ratchet & Clank have always been cartoony as well, with the concept artists Creaturebox being cartoonists themselves. I was worried how Insomniac could translate their PS2 style to the PS3 and still keep that cartoony style. They did it really well in Tools of Destruction, Quest 4 Booty and perfected it in A Crack in Time. So if SE finally stop being cheap and progress KH they should take a page from Insomniac even asking for some of their tech, Insomniac are more than willing especially with their Nocturnal Initiative.

I'm kinda hoping for a CGI looking approach in the future. The secret ending of KH2 with Terra, Ven and Aqua looked amazing. And Mickey didn't look half bad so I guess they wouldn't mess up the looks of the Disney characters. But the cartoony style is just fine and I think it will be too big of a transition for people to go from cartoony to realistic in one game.
