Okay, here is something that i'm interested in:

something that is cynical, but not too cynical so that the characters are brooding and dark'n'gritty all the time.

Here are examples

Firefly (2005) or anything by Joss Whedon

Kick-Ass

Most of MARVEL Comics in a nutshell

Anything by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Jay and Silent Bob)

Guardains of the Galaxy? lol thats about the only MARVEL movie i know of

How about House? He's a cynical doctor who's brilliant at what he does, but is also addicted to drugs.

Try Casablanca. It was cynical before being cynical was cool.

Watch Arrow or The Flash... Well both really.

Want something not really cynical, but kinda dark and disturbing at times (and also incredibly funny)? Rick & Morty. It's pure gold.

Hmm, maybe you would like Flash Forward, or Farscape? Do you like sci-fi?
