There are two versions for Japan, Fire Emblem If: White Kingdom and Fire Emblem If: Black Kingdom. If you buy one version, you get a discount for the other version as DLC.

There is also a "Third Path"/Third version for DLC.

There is one big bundle going for around $77, including both games with the DLC plus more.

Mind as well call it Pokémon Black and White. Third Path being Pokémon Grey.

Worth noting that it may be different for outside releases. It may be one game like Iwata was implying.

Not a big fan of this news... Should have just been one big game. :/

I know. The problem is that my brother and I both want the game, and we both wanted to play on Nohr side. Getting two games wouldn't be an issue, but having to buy both games + DLC of the other + DLC of Third Path OR 4 games + DLC of Third Path is going to be insane. The reason I said "or" is because I think the DLC may just be for the digital version.

My brother and I are both trying to get it too. We haven't decided what path to take, and figured we'd do that while playing and see which side we liked more. Having it be two separate games just makes it harder on us. :/

Dafuq is this

Is this supposed to be the FE version of SMT if...?

You can try out the digital version, which there is only one version and you choose at Chapter 6 which way you wanna go.

I just hoped they did that with the retail version.

My advice is getting White Kingdom and Black Kingdom, and then one of you try out White and the other try out Black and after you both are done, you both switch games. I'm choosing by looks though, but if they decide to keep versions separate then you can try going for looks too.

Nope. There are two FE games coming out.

SMT x FE which is the crossover game not tied with the main games, and Fire Emblem: If which is the main game of the series just like Awakening was.

It just reminded me of SMT if, because of the If.

Main or not, having two games plus a third one for DLC is still kinda gross though.

I might just go with the digital version, then. I didn't know it gave an option at Chapter 6. Thanks for explaining that!

Well, if I read this right, Japan will get both versions of the game physically. While NA and EU will get one version physically and the other as a digital download.

WTF if they release it like that in the US, i'll be insanely ticked off. Because I don't want to go out of my way to spend an extra 40 dollars on another copy of this game that i could just have a game that has multiple endings.

Asides from that, that definitely wont keep me from buying this new FE game. BECAUSE I CAN BE A SHAPESHIFTER THING WHOS THE MAIN HERO. YEAHHH

Shana said maybe outside regions will get one version. No one knows yet.

BUT I also heard if you pick one way, you might be stuck with that and have to pay DLC for the other side. But, its a bit better.

I'm actually confused on that.

MU is a Lord but a Manakete at the same time? Or a Lord with a sword that allows you to transform?

This is definitely interesting, but it's nothing to get upset over since there'll be a limited edition with all three storylines in it. That version better be the one that makes it overseas though, wouldn't really like it if we were forced to choose one of the halves. I feel like NOA/NOE know that Fire Emblem isn't popular enough in the West to do that though, while they could easily get away with it in Japan since it's much more well-known over there.

Also the game is shaping up pretty well. Awakening is one of my top games for 3DS so I'm really looking forward to this. 2016 feels so far away though...

BUT I also heard if you pick one way, you might be stuck with that and have to pay DLC for the other side. But, its a bit better.

I would probably end up getting the other at some point if it was cheaper anyway. :/ Oh well.

Looked kind of like a metal clad deer to me. It's probably a new class entirely.

Its said to be a "Dark Prince", which uses a sword and a dragonstone.

dragon stone? That creature looked nothing like a dragon.

Ok, wait, so if u buy one version...u can buy the 3rd version by downloading it from one of the 2 games u buy? Plus Nora thought the Nintendo guy said that one Kingdom would be harder to play than the other, so does this mean there's a hard version copy and easy version copy? How is that fair?

I guess its their version of a "Black Dragon"/"White Dragon" that they talk about. It reminds me of an FF boss.

1. If you buy one version, you can buy a DLC of its counterpart for a discount. There is also another DLC called the "Third Path" which you would need to buy as well.

2. There is one big bundle for both games and the "Third Path" DLC but currently in Japan.

3. The White Kingdom (Hoshida/Hoshido) will have ways to gain EXP and money outside of the main storyline. The Black Kingdom (Nohr) will not. That's the difference in difficulties so far.

4. It doesn't seem fair, so try not to think of it like Pokémon versions. However, it seems to have one version dedicated to a part of the fanbase. Those who like Awakening's simplicity and feeling, should play White Kingdom. Those you want something new, or a more complicated route should play Black Kingdom.

5. There may be more information announced later in regard of the differences, but so far, this is what has been announced.

haha. reminds  me of pokemon. black dragon white dragon literally. Like I said before, the creature the MU shapeshifts into looks like Xerneas the legendary from pokemon X

Lmao the reason why I said they went Pokemon. The whole story is based off of the saying "there is two sides to every story" which is what Pokemon BW was about.

Now we have White Dragon and Black Dragon, Zekrom and Reshiram.

People have been saying Xerneas too because of the hooves and robo-stag look.
