Is YX saying that b/c Ansem SoD possessed Riku, he knew subconsciously knew in his heart that Sora would be there that day? But that wouldn't make any sense, given that after he's defeated (after possessing Riku), he become Old Xehanort in DDD.

 

And possessing Riku occurs further along in Ansem SoD's personal timeline than seeing off Sora. Unless he possessed Riku at Destiny Islands, un-possessed Riku sometime before being defeated, went back in time, saw off Sora, then repossessed Riku later (at Hollow Bastion???)

 

Is that what he's saying or am I missing something?

Terranort sent Kairi to Destiny Islands because he knew that Riku had the mark of the Keyblade, since Terra was the one to bequeath the right to him. He knew one or the other would be there to rescue Kairi. Not to mention, but Ansem SoD (in his body-less form) had been watching the children of Destiny Island since he discarded his body. He knew Sora would be there because he was there to see it. This is first seen when he appeared to Sora in the cave early on in KHI.

 

He already knew what was going to happen by the simple logic that somebody was going to come after her. It had to be Sora though, because Riku had been seduced by the darkness that Ansem provided him and was too far gone to care about anything but that at that point in time.

Ansem's Report 11:

Opening the door to the world's heart causes its walls to crumble. These fragments are seen as shooting stars. This explains why these "gummi blocks" can travel freely to other worlds.

 

I know the catalyst of the collapse, the appearance of the Heartless. However, it will take time to search out the worlds' doors, and to retrieve each heart.

 

Furthermore, the doors can be locked using a Keyblade making the heart forever unattainable. I must take action before the wielder of this key appears in this world. 

 

If the princesses and the Keyblade are connected, they should resonate. 

 

I have chosen a girl. I don't know if she holds the princesses' powers, but I will find out. She may lead me to the key bearer.

I shall set her free and observe.

Correct. He didn't send her to Destiny Islands. Technically,Aqua sent her there. She cast a spell on Kairi that would basically send her to the nearest light. Guess who that light was? Mr BigShoes McHappy.

Scratch that.

Mostly what it means is that Xehanort's plan is impossible on a number of levels, and the efforts to which the writers are going in order to make it look like he's still an incredible tactician are becoming more and more absurd.

Xehanort cast out Kairi on purpose in hopes of her leading him to a keyblade wielder but it was Aqua's spell that also ultimately led her to Destiny Islands..Nomura himself :

 

Aqua lays a spell on Kairi’s pendant. Is it to protect her from the forces of darkness?

Because of that pendant Kairi was sent to Destiny Island.

 

So Kairi going to Destiny Island wasn’t just an accident.

What we wanted to show in the story this time was that “fate is inevitable”. Someday Kairi would go to a place where she would be protected by a hero of light. 

6: Why did Kairi end up with Sora and Riku?

It has to do with Aqua’s “magic”.



 Nine years before KH, Kairi was thrust into the outside world, and
 found herself on Sora and Riku’s world. Ansem, Seeker of Darkness
 thought that she had been able to search for a Keyblade wielder, but
 what actually saved her was the magic spell Aqua had put on her.
