Axel Roxas and Xion...living together?

Posted

Ok, I finished the Days Manga a little while back and there is something I think needs discussed. Something that simultaneously gives me the feels and the creeps.

In volume 2, Chapter 11: Sweet Hearts, on day 97, Roxas and Xion suggest to Axel something. They ask him if he would like to live with them when they complete Kingdom Heart. "Live together" is the quote.

At first I was like, "Awwwww, how sweet<3" but that quickly changed to, "WAIT A SEC?! What the-!"

Why? I remembered their ages. Roxas and Xion (who is chronologically less than a yr but acts like Soras age) is about 15. And Axel, assuming his birthday was January first (the date I give all characters whose birthdays aren't said) he would be roughly 25! Uhh....yeah.

While I believe that their friendship is nothing more than just friendship and they don't look at each other in a romantic way, it creeps me out just a tinsey bit at the thought of a 25 yr old agreeing to live as room mates with a couple of 15 year olds. At first I thought it meant live like, around each other, like be neighbors, but it says "live TOGETHER". But I guess it could be argued that Roxas and Xion are developmentally older. Like, life exp has aged them older than their chronological age. I mean, by the end of the game, it cannot be doubted that they have mentally aged at least a few years. But then again, their age still shows through especially when angry or confused.

Also, I am 20 years old and the thought of living a roommate 5 years younger than me is just unthinkable. The average 15 year old doesn't need a roommate they need a parent. If that is Axels thought going into this, that he would take care of them...I guess that would be better, maybe?

I mean, lets say they completed Kingdom Hearts and got hearts of their own (for arguments sake just go with it, and xion gets one too). Axel is technically old enough to be their legal guardian, and Roxas and Xion would have to go to school as sophomore high school students. If they lived together, I imagine Roxas and Xion would want normal lives and be going to school. And Axel presumably would be working and maybe going to school as well while looking out for Roxas and Xion. Being if not a parent figure than an older brother guardian figure. That is really the only scenario I can picture and not have the creeps sneak up on me. What do you guys think of this?

Axel would probably watch over them like a guardian figure most of the time, but what if he has a lady-friend (or guy-friend) over? Roxas only recently learned about friendship and love, so lust is gonna be even harder to explain ;).

All in all, (and I kinda hate myself for saying this) it sounds a lot like KH iCarly.

Uh, wow. I think you're the only one to have thought of it in that way before. Really, the only way I saw it was in the more familial sense, I never interpreted it as a "shippers' fantasy" kind of thing. The last few things you were suggesting where they live together and Axel being kind of this older guardian parent/brother figure with Roxas and Xion trying to be normal teenagers, that was literally the only way I could interpret that. I could understand the concern if it was anyone else in the Organization who was older or creepier, like Xigbar, Marluxia, or Vexen (*shudders*). Axel does not come across as that though, so really I don't get any creepy "stranger danger/pedo alert" vibes from him. Not to mention he's probably the closest one to them in terms of age, not counting Zexion and Demyx (because one does not really care for friendship that much at all, and the other is just...well, Demyx). As much as it sounds weird, I kind of agree with Psychic's point that it would essentially be a KH iCarly kind of deal, Axel essentially becoming their surrogate older brother figure, and I'm totally fine with that. The whole idea of the three of them living together one day really had me invested in the whole story, even though I knew what was going to happen towards the end, I still wanted to see them find their happiness. :3<3

In all honesty I'm not quite sure we would be having this kind of conversation if not for AkuRoku shippers, but what can you do? :P

Rocky and Xi-Xi would probably cuddle Axel while they sleep and he takes cute pictures to savor the memories :3

First, it was already basically said that Xion and Roxas grew their own hearts ( one of the major points in DDD is that anything even a puppet can grow a heart and a nobody without it's own working heart will replace it as soon as it can given proper nurturing)  ( Ven's heart doesn't count bc it was nonfunctional, asleep, and not his own) ...TWTNW's story plot and everything after that especially the conversation with Ansem The Wise discusses this.

Secondly- KH is mostly about friendship not romance( aside from the disney characters romances) so I don't think that's what was being inferred when they talked about moving in together. Xion and Roxas don't have any parents/family to love or take care of them and I could see Lea being like the nurturing older brother.I think you are looking a bit too far into that situation in that regards.

P.S. The manga isn't canon btw :)

I'll be honest, I would watch the shit out of that. Xemnas becomes (for arguments sake) the school principal, the other members just do random odd-jobs around, it would be funny. We need a team of tallented cosplay erstwhile to do this and put it up on Youtube.

Actually me too. Also the word erstwhile doesn't get used nearly enough, so I had to like your post :D (even though it's not really applicable in this context)

(Sorry, Autocorrect and fat thumbs, didn't even notice I messed it up till I ready your post .-.)

As everyone's already mentioned, Axel would most likely take a mentor/parent/big bro role to Roxas and Xion. He already does so in canon, so that'd probably be how it'd go if they decided to live together. It actually sounds weird to me that Roxas and Xion refer to Axel as their "friend," and vice versa. Axel takes a guardianship role with them, whereas being buddies usually implies some kind of equality. They're all close, but it's consistently Axel who sticks his neck out for them. Roxas and Xion don't necessarily help him in return, outside of being people who give Axel's existence some kind of worth -- a relationship that can be inferred as like a parent finding value and purpose in their children.

So, tl;dr: friendship and roommates sound weird, big bro ftw.
