Endless Blade Waltz; Rebirth RP Thread!

Posted

Another night in the faux Inn... The man, covered in his brown shroud, sat across from you and the rest of the people from the day before, and he began once again.

"Back again today, I see..."

The man looked around at those seated, a faint cackle escaped from his throat. With no less than the arrival of the first round of drinks, it started again.

"Our story starts with some young lads and maiden's, dancers and fighters, grace, and brutality."

With that, your mind melted away, the images of multiple people began to float in your mind as the world around you, this inn, seemed to almost vanish...

"Our first scene: In the school grounds, midday, the students have been let out for lunch break..."

Day one: DNA of the Heart

Midday, Year 278, ENDLESS

The sun hung above the school of barbarians and entertainers quite lightly this day. One could only dream of such a nice day to be outside, the sun was just right, it smelled of Spring, fresh grass and newly-bloomed flowers peppered the air in their unique smell, the near-by lake shimmered  in the sunlight. A day like this was not one to be spent in a classroom, so when that bell rung, not a soul, not even the faculty could resist such a glorious day.

At the center of the school's inner grounds, a fountain sat, water gently bubbling out of the faucets at the top. A blade and a ribbon, sculpted in stone, sat atop this fountain. And soon, student's decorated the benches near by. Chatting, eating, the like. Some of hem hoped to go for a quick swim in the lake before class started again, others were just genuinely glad they were able to smell the fresh air of the out doors as they sat on the cobble stone floor in the quad....

The lake, many called in Fluorspar Lake, was in the wide open, save a few oak trees in the landscape, providing shade and a spot for a swing, and the small cliff overlooking it which many a person dived into. The shimmering, clear water showed the fluorspar gemstones that could be found in its sand....

(Alright! So, for your starting post, you have either the choice of the School Quad, or the Lake to start at. For sake of ease, when entering an area you do not know much about the appearance of, put some sort of mark to indicate this. Something like a "..." or a dash will do.)

(Pls just climb in we're already overdue I don't want you to dieeeee)

(Isn't the area around the windows safe from collapse?  Maybe I'm mistaken . . . .)

(Oh, I forgot to say. Due to my dr's visit yesterday I'm extending the deadline to today at 6 my time, my appologies)

(No problem.  Is Shela safe where she is?  If not, I'll change her actions)

(Hektor is in the window btw, he can help anyone up if they want to jump off.)

(Certain death by jumping or certain death by fighting. Decisions decisions)

Runa glanced over at Syfe, Derik and Alexander. "If we can't jump off the windows without dying this is everyone's only choice. The dancers can't help us without risk of falling into a pit. It's up to us." Runa said as he glared up at his former instructors. "I have something to ask you all even if it's the last thing I do, why? Why are you doing this?!" Runa asked. It made no sense that these people who had worked so hard to simply kill everything and everyone off on a whim. "Hundreds of students are dead and you think no consequences will come out of it?! Even if we die someone will catch up to all of this!"

Rune turned his attention to Shela, extending his arms to her. "Careful with the glass, darling." Rune cautioned as he pulled her up to the window. Now all survivors were either by the windows or on the stage. No escape route with possible survival in sight. "If we can't jump down...is it possible to jump up?" Rune murmured. Even climbing on the roof sounded a much better option than doing a suicide stunt.

(Your fine. I would suggest that if any of you have any other things to say, note it now, if everyone posts that they're ready to move I can force-end the quest.

(Ready to move)

(As ready as i'l ever be.)

(I suppose since I'm not sure what else to do)

(Im ready when you guys are)

(Not quite, because . . . .)

It seemed to take little effort for the dancer to swing Shela off of her feet and onto the sill, much to her gratitude.  She wasn't one for being rescued, but at this point she could only be grateful for all the help she could receive.  The warrior glanced down and out the window.  As Hektor had mentioned, there were indeed trees that may help with the fall, or she even considered trying to dig her sword into the side to ease her way down the wall.  As she further studied the brick, however, she didn't think it would work, and would probably just injure herself worse if she attempted it.

And yet, her only chance of survival was to climb up or down.  She was almost about to do it, with her head ducked out the window, until she remembered Oume once more.  The day prior back by the lake, and today when they were about to practice.  He was a friend, a good friend, and she couldn't just leave him.  Fighting herself, she leapt off the sill, nodding to Rune and Rija apologetically.  "Thank you, all of you, but I'm not going to run anymore.  I can't just leave the people I care about to survive.  It's . . . selfish."  Shooting them once last apologetic, somber glance, Shela backtracked and glanced around for any way down into the pit.  One aisle on the far left side remained partially intact, but Shela had a better idea.  Her eye scanned a drapery that had been in decoration of the standard room, running from several sides of the room and encircling around the chandelier above the center of the stage.  It was a gamble and a risk, but one she was willing to take.  She withdrew her sword and sliced into the drapery, releasing it from its hold on the wall.  Swinging like a monkey, she grasped it and let herself fly, brandishing the remains of the seating below her in the process.  The drape, however, would take her beyond the pit, so she had to carefully ensure that she'd let go at just the right moment.

She collapsed in the middle of the stage, first on her feet before falling to her knees.  She glanced at Oume and smiled, a trickle of blood dripping from the corner of her mouth.  "I'm here, and we'll do this together."

(Shela chose not to be a coward.  Now I'm done.)

- Hektor -

Hektor was already on top of his own window, having broken the glass and was already ready to jump down, he looked back at everyone, "This window is a bit bigger, and I see some trees outside, a good acrobat might be able to use them to ease their landing" Hektor spoke to the group as he was sitting on top of the windowsil which could two people easily, he looked at the stage, seeing Derik and Syfe there, fighting the instructors, "They don't stand a chance by themselves..." he muttered as he offered his hand to anyone who wanted to get onto his window.

- Alexander -

He didn't quite know what to do, frustrated that the doors couldn't be open, and breaking the walls would take too long, he heard Shela's question, and hearing Hektor from the windowsil Alexander decided what he thought was best, "Syfe and Derik don't stand a bloody chance by themselves, even if its suicide I must help..." he said almost like with an honor bound tone as he turned away from the group and started heading for the stage, utilizing the remaining isles and footing available and using his halberd to do polejumps, allowing him to quickly arrive at the stage.

He held his halberd behind him, ready to fight "Mind if I join in?" He asked Syfe and Derik, "Can't exactly make the fall out of the windows, so theres really no other option for me..." he commented, as he readied his fighting stance.

Rune glanced out the window, his face turning pale. "Er...guys...this is pretty high..." Rune whispered. Runs glared up. "Are you kidding me?!" "If you want to jump down first and make your corpse a landing pad be my guest. I don't think any of us can survive that fall without broken legs." Rune explained. His brother rolled his eyes, dropping his brother on the floor with a yelp. "What are you doing?!" "The boys are going to fight them. If we can't go out the doors and the window is too high to jump we have to do something." Runs explained, picking his blade back up before hurrying to the stage. Rune glared and glanced up at Rija. "You don't have any suggestions on something we can do about the fall, do you?!" Rune asked. He could always dance in hopes of lending some of his abilities to his companions yet...he was afraid that if he did the place would get caught on fire. Runa jumped onto the stage, standing next to Derik. "Until we can figure out another plan this is the only plan that will seem to work." Runa said as he rested his sword against his shoulder. "Count me in this."

Oume noticed that no matter what he did it wasn't working, he looked around and noticed there was one guy who was charging towards the instructers. Oume saw that the pit had gone pretty far so he looked around the room and saw the windows going around the building. He put his weapons away and turned towards Shela, "We need to end this madness." He ran forward and grab onto the window sile, he scooted to the edge of the window sile and started to swing himself sideways. He then released and grabbed onto the next one, he continued this almost falling more often then he should and was finally able to reach the stage. He took out his weapons and was ready to kill these people for making him relive the moments of his village.

"Looks like they're distracted by windows." Syfe noted. That was probably a better idea than what he was doing right now. Oh well. "I say we lay off attacking them, but play keep away instead. We just don't take hits. Dodge what we can and block what we can't. It's not like we can hope to deal massive damage to them anyway." Syfe proposed, though he doubted Derik would listen. He seemed like a rock em sock em kinda guy.

Alyssa watched as Rune broke the window. Rija was now sitting on the window sill precariously. She was squashed as close to the side as she could. Rija glanced to Rune as best she could. "We could sit up here and wait it out. There's room for two on the windowsill if you really squeeze." The soldier said. "Our only other option would be to get down there and help out in the fight really quickly." She continued, looking down towards the stage. Rija was not liking their chances, and everything in her screamed to help. Alyssa shook her head.

"No thanks," She whispered, and climbed up onto the window, straddling the sill. Rija nodded. Okay, this could work. Rija motioned to Shela.

"Rune's window or the stage, your preference ma'am."

(Apologies, health issues slowed down this post. Steroids are not fun to take, boys and girls...)

Stand and fight!

"Answer's aren't for carcass', fool." The red-haired instructor boomed. It was time to fight.

"We can do this guys. If we can handle the Dance instructor first before he can offer any support, we can have this in the bag."

Battle Initiate!

"This could be trouble, everyone, we're without our supporters."

Tutorial: Battle Mode

When the time comes, we eventually will have to fight, with or without Dancers or Warriors to back each-other up. In each fight, there are multiple stages.

Stage One: Player Phase. Based on Speed and current Weight status, your speed will effect the Player Phase. During this phase, all players have an opportunity to make a move based on the stats discussed above. The available actions you have are: you can attack, defend, use an item, magic or specialty attack (When available) or Charge, however we will get onto the finer details of these later. Right now familiarize yourselves with your Attack and Defend actions. These are preformed similarly to a regular post, however at the bottom, you must place your Target (When there are more than one available). After an action is chosen, an effect will apply, however they are mutually exclusive during the turn. You may only attack or defend, so on, and you only gain one action per turn. This phase ends automatically after everyone has posted a response and in the correct order. The order is shown by a number placed next to your name, the first goes first, second second, so on.

Stage Two: Enemy Phase. They will act much more randomly than you will, attacking whoever they see fit at the moment, however, one can, though over-use of a single attack or another, build Aggression Points which cause the enemy to target a specific member until they are either defeated, or another player manages to attract it's attention. Similarly to you, unless special effects are applied, they only gain one move as well, however they can choose to do the same things as you.

Stage Three: Shuffle Phase. In this phase, players can adjust who they're teaming up with at the moment, and what position they have on the field, the Enemy may also shuffle around, however this is not known to be too common.

The field is divided into three sections, Vanguard, Midguard, and Rearguard. The Vanguard has the greatest priority, and their speed is given a priority boost in order to keep them acting as the forward attack force. They have the greatest accuracy, but are very susceptible to being hit, and the damage often either deals a slight bit more than usual or has a higher chance for Critical hitting the person they target.

There can only be Six people in the Vanguard at a time.

Midguard has greater defense than the Vanguard, however lesser ability in combat as a result. They can miss more often compared to the Vanguard, do not receive a Speed Boost, however from this Range, Charging has a greater success rating.

There can only be Five people in the Midguard at a time

Rearguard is the lowest priority, generally injured, heavily support based units, and healers relegate themselves to the rear-guard as they have a loss in hit chance and speed, lesser odds on damage and critical hits, however unless there is no one in the Midguard, the Rearguard cannot be attacked unless they themselves attack, and gain a small HP regeneration for a short period upon entering the area.

There can only be Four people in the Rearguard at a time.

Warriors are by standard set to the Vanguard, Dancers are set to the Midguard by default.

Dancers are more notably good at buffing their teammates and using magic, and Warriors are more notable for doing high damage, taking hits, and protecting the Dancers who are more fragile. As such, there is also a Team System. When in alignment with another character (I.E., across from them on the Vanguard) You are considered a "Team". Later in the game, there will be Team Attacks and other cooperative attack styles, but for now, understand your actions can change things for better or worse in your team, a team caps out at four Members and can be chosen in-post by mentioning the name of the character(s) you are working with or want to. When a Team is formed, a color is assigned to them so you can tell who your team is.

With the core consents in-place, we shall let the ball roll.

(Mini-Rant: The formatting system on KH13 kinda sucks, mainly as it lacks an actual tab feature of any kind. It has a pseudo-tab, but it tabs a whole line rather than just a single word, and unless I want to go in and BBCode edit everything by hand, a picture is the closest I'm going to get to getting the format right. )

Oume looks down at Shela who drops in for a second and closes his eyes imagining what it must look like behind him now, and in the pit as well. "You are going to pay for what you did." Oume said looking down at the ground being so angry his whole body his shaking uncontrollably. Still able to hear the screams of the kids that had died in this auditorium he looks up with tears rolling down his eyes. "I WILL KILL YOU ALL!!!" He charges Instructor Leum with both points of the blades at Instructor Leums' chest and uses Penetrating Flash, pushing the swords in his body as much as possible before jumping back to his spot. "Get ready to feel 10 times the pain that the people who trusted you felt."

Edited by Cam1949

(Do note that you don't have any special attacks quite yet, so your move was treated as a regular Attack.)

Oume Misses!

(good to know)

Rune watched from his window, deciding to cheer on for the fighters. They couldn’t assist them, so he might as well cheer for them. “Kick their @$$3$!” Rune yelled. Runa rolled his eyes. “Thanks for the support!” Runa said as he spun his sword and decided on who he was going to smack around first. “Going for the big fish!” Runa yelled, as he dashed forward and attacked at instructor Skyla.

(Just FYI, you're allowed to use strong language in this RP, don't worry.)

(Whoops, sorry!  Didn't realize that everyone was waiting on me.  I hadn't opened and really studied this thread until today.)

Shela heard Runa's words and knew exactly who he was aiming for.  Readying her sword and grasping it with both hands, Shela also charged at Skyla.  Her armor allowed for increased agility, so that, even if Skyla were to quickly counter, there was a chance that she could avoid it at such speeds.  While Runa struck from below, Shela thought she'd attack from above, leaping into the air and coming at Skyla from above, her weapon parallel to her forearm as she sliced down.

"You guys are idiots!" Syfe called to them as he leaped towards Instructor Leum. "We eliminate the one we can eliminate the fastest first, so they aren't dealing what damage they can for the rest of the fight. I thought you guys would know things like this." He commented, masking his anxiety as best he could with reasonable complaints. He fell from the sky towards the Instructor, bringing down his dualblade hard in a vertical slash.

Dual-Strike Active: Hit Rate ^ For this attack

TUTORIAL: Dual-Strikes

When two players target an enemy at the same time, they gain a boosted Hit Chance, and depending on their coordination and level of trust in one-another, other effects can apply as well! Use this to plan your attacks in-conjunction with other teammates effectively.

Dual-Strike result: Runa misses his attack. Shela's follow-up, however, damages the opponent.

"Damn." Alexander muttered as he saw most people who attacked them miss their strikes, they were indeed outmatched, but no matter, he nodded with Syfe's statement, "Agreed, take out the one supporting them" he added as he followed soon after syfe, delivering a powerful thrust with his halberd's speartip at Leum.

Phase 3

(This is just a REALLY short post to keep it moving since i won't be able to post the whole day.)

Oune attacks Leum.

Runa was hit twice, and needless to say, it hurt like a b*tch, even if the damage wasn’t as severe. “Son of a-, wow now, gang up on me why don’t you?!” Runa hissed, gripping his sword tightly as he glanced over at Syfe. “FINE! I’ll take your offer!” Rune yelled, now his eyes landing on the new target, Leum. “I’ll mount your head on my wall!” Runa growled, attacking at Leum while following Oune’s attack.
