I reliesed that summer moves way to fast if you go to bed at 3:00 AM and wake up at 12:00 PM. To get my sleep schedule back on track I have devised a daring plan.
Basically this means I do not sleep at all until I find a good time to do so.
I woke up at 12:00 PM EST yesterday and its now 6:30 PM EST.
I didn't even take a nap or anything. I am getting pretty tired. I had a few weak points in which I almost fell asleep however I was able to counter that.
I plan on going to bed at either 8:00 to 10:00 PM EST today. So I can hold out a bit longer.
We all know summer screws up our sleep schedule. And changing in right before the first day of school can be a bit trouble some. So you may want to try this out if you can endure it (failing this can mess up your sleep even more so only do this if you know success in ensured)
Here are some tips to help you stay up all night and do this properly.
1. pick a day when you have absolutely nothing planned. (your going to have to start this the day before you decide the time you go to sleep)
2. You CANNOT stop this procedure if you manage to make it to sunrise. (stop means sleeping) if you sleep at sunrise you will mess things up even more. If you decide this isn't for you, then you should abort this by 3:00 AM.
3. Keep your mind active, not your body. Exercising and other physical activities may seem like a good way to stay awake. After all your body will give you an adrenaline rush and you will have the energy of a 5 year old on steroids. However once this adrenaline rush ends, your body will have barely any energy to keep you awake. Playing a game, reading a book, writing a song and other mind related activities will keep your mind active and will help you stay awake.
4. You should try eating/drinking sugary or caffeinated foods/drinks. This will help your body stay up a little bit. Do not eat too much though. Your body will need to digest all this and that will require energy. And you can't tell yourself to stop doing that. Well you can but your body won't listen too you. Only consume things that require little work for your body.
5. The second hardest part about staying awake all night is doing so without your parent/guardian knowing (provided you still live with them). Chances are they will not be too keen on the idea of you staying up over 24 hours. If they are good for your, however this is an unlikely scenario. Don't even mention your plan to them or anyone who may tell your parents. You may have to sneak whatever you need to do this into your room or wherever you sleep. If your parent/guardian checks on you or goes into your room in the middle of the night be fully alert until you can confirm that they are asleep. Anything that may sound like them approaching your room or sleeping area may require you to fake that you are asleep. For if you get caught your mission is over. If your parent/guardian does not creep around you while you sleep then security isn't an issue and you can focus on the task of staying awake. Just don't play any loud music or do anything that would wake them up.
6. DO NOT watch television. In case you don't know this, television past 1:00 AM in most areas is usually either
A. Infomercials (commercials that last several hours)
B. Re-runs of extremely old shows (most likely something you never heard of before)
C. Nothing but jazz or classical music and text.
Unless you are entertained by one of those do not watch TV as being bored will easily make yourself go to sleep
7. Don't get to comfortable. Make yourself a tiny bit uncomfortable. Don't over do it otherwise you will be tortured the whole night. Just make the area an environment that would make it rather hard to fall asleep. Since the kitchen is being remodeled in my home there is dust in many places which caused me to sneeze every 5-10 minutes. I doubt you'll have exactly this so simple ways to make yourself slightly uncomfortable can be as easy as making it a bit hot or a bit cold. Or you can sit on a metal chair or something. Whatever floats your boat.
