New content? DLC confirmed?

I'll just be waiting to see if it's ever confirmed for a Western release... Which probably won't happen, but a man can dream.

I don't know how a game being released with new content means that it's DLC. The content's already included on the cartridge itself (Or the game download for digital copies). Enix isn't very big on DLC from what I've seen (Not that I'd know for sure, since they haven't released a console/handheld game outside Japan for years now...).

I sure hope they localize it. I've heard that Dragon Quest VIII is excellent and I want to try it out to see if that claim hold true!

I'm sure they will. It's not much to translate. They've been very clear they haven't done VII due to how much text there is. And buying DQ Heroes will also send the message.

I still say the excuse for VII makes no sense, seeing as how there were various fan projects to translate it, and they easily could have just hired the fans to do an official translation. Not to mention it's a remake of a PS1 game that's already been translated. It can't be too difficult to translate. As for VIII, they also didn't bring a lot of other recent games to the West, so I don't see that happening with VIII 3D, either. Heroes doing well is pretty much the only way I think Enix would consider it at this point.

Oh my god. They've made it clear they can't use the PS1 translation, it requires a full re-translation and chances are the game wouldn't sell well enough to warrant that.

What other games? Monsters? Nintendo did the DS games and clearly even they saw they didn't do well. While in regards to Slime 3, they're open to it if Heroes sells well.

And what is the reason that they can't use the PS1 translation, if I may ask? If you're going to include the rude tone, I'd appreciate it if you'd explain your statements.

Mostly Monsters, yes. There's been a lot of demand for the Dragon Quest games that have yet to be localized, and I don't see why Enix won't give Western audiences a chance. Sure, past entries didn't meet their expectations, but the 3DS has a pretty large audience, and RPGs are rather popular on the system. The demand should at least warrant releasing something out here, even if it's one of the Monsters games that's been released on the 3DS. It would probably help if they'd market the games, too. I'm actually seeing and hearing advertisements for Dragon Quest Heroes. If they did that with the other games, they'd probably reach a much larger audience. Seeing as how Nintendo of America's president has stated that he'd love to see more Dragon Quest games make their way out here, I think it would be worth a shot.

It's all here: http://www.siliconera.com/2014/08/31/square-enix-want-bring-dragon-quest-vii-3ds-west-arent-sure-itll-sell-enough/

Reggie should get his translation department to handle a Monsters game then. They did the DS ones and are doing Bravely Second.
