Or, you know, people who want to play the game on something that's not a smartphone/tablet, but don't want to track down the PS1 copy. I'd even play it as a PSOne Classic, though I'd prefer the 3DS version.

Like I said, PSOne Classic is still an option. Even if Enix doesn't like emulation, it's something that would work well and wouldn't take much time. I'm not even bringing up the whole translation excuse here, so I don't see why you needed to make a rude remark.

 

Besides, if they'd want outside help, there was a fan project that they shut down a while ago. They could easily just ask them for help translating it in that case. Considering that the group was doing it for free, I doubt they'd have trouble in terms of payment.
