Dragon Quest VII & VIII Coming to 3DS in 2016

Posted

Dragon Quest VII & VIII were just announced to be coming to Nintendo 3DS, in the west, in 2016.

Dragon Quest VII is being released in Summer 2016 while Dragon Quest VIII is coming sometime in 2016.

This is great news as it seemed very bleak that we would get anymore Dragon Quest Games in the west.

It appears that Square wasn't completely honest when they said that DQ Heroes was what the future of the series depended on (although it is likely that any future title on another system will depend on Dragon Quest Heroes sales).  It is likely that Nintendo are the ones doing the translations for these games, which could lead to the possibility of DQ XI at least getting a 3DS localization depending on how well these games sell.

About freaking time that they release Vii.

I've literally been wanting this to get localized for years! day one

He said text is too much to translate he said.He screamed "GO ASK NINTENDO TO TRANSLATE IT" he said.Well guess what?IT'S HAPPENING

Oh, I'm so freaking excited! 0/*  <3

I've loved Dragon Quest since I was very little, and I'm very happy they're releasing these two remakes in the west now!  Although, I'll probably only get DQVII since I already have DQVIII for the PS2.  Plus, while I do have DQVII for the PS1, I hear that the 3DS version is different, while the 3DS version of DQVIII looks more like a port.

I hope this means that DQXI will be released out west too!

I believe Nintendo is translating it. Lol.

Yep. Looks like Nintendo are publishing both of them.

We haven't gotten any press releases from Square Enix either.

3DS version of VII is a full remake.

Some very happy news indeed! Had heard of this rumour back in the month of May but now that Nintendo Direct has confirmed the news, it's full and final. Till then, it's dragon games like these and Plants versus Zombies which'll keep me entertained.. so much for my love of dragons and monsters!

Actually, the 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII is an extended edition, including new playable characters

(Morrie and Red)

, as well as new dungeons and cutscenes, as well as new monsters to fight, although I'm not sure how extended the monster arena is.

New Playable Characters (careful of spoilers)

New Dungeon (spoilers definitely here, including a boss)

No problem :).
