There is a correct order to show your children the Star Wars movies

Posted

So apparently there is a correct order to introduce someone to the Star Wars movies.  See here.

Next time you want to introduce someone to Star Wars for the first time, watch the films with them in this order: IV, V, II, III, VI.

So what do you guys think?  I personally don't see how this guy found Episode I boring when I was falling asleep during II as an adult (V doesn't count because I was four).  I'm glad I was born in the 90's and didn't have to deal with this.  My parents just sat me down with IV, V and VI because that was the only order there was.

Eh, once more people take things way too seriously. Sit the kiddies down, show them whichever Star Wars film you decide upon, and boom! You've begun your newest generation of fans.

Although I highly recommend showing them Phantom Menace first.

There are reveals in V that don't have the same impact as they would if you saw the prequels first. I'd probably do this play order, but add Ep. I back in.

Interesting you should mention the viewing order! Hellogreedo made a video of this precise topic! :D

Episode IV sounds like a reasonable choice to start with.

Release order is always best. <3 I agree with this guy. It's like choosing what order to play the KH series in, which should be release order. I remember seeing Birth by Sleep cutscenes and being left awestruck because it explained why heaps of things were the way they are! It's much more exciting story-wise that way. I'm even gonna marathon the Star Wars films before Episode VII releases and I will do it in release order. :)

Peace!

I watched the films in release order first, and then I saw them chronologically, and I've watched them that way since! :D I marathoned all 6 films with my best friends/soul brothers Jonathan and Dennys, and now, we wait 10 days for The Force Awakens to finally release! (Over here in Puerto Rico, the movie comes out a day before it actually releases in the US! I'm so lucky! :D) I can't wait to see it! But yeah, it's fun to watch the Originals and then the Prequels, because the reveals have much more impact by then! Haha, and I liked the comparison you made to the KH series! Ironic, because both KH and Star Wars share many similarities! X3

Ironic I actually mentioned Birth by Sleep of all games. Terra's story was heavily inspired by Star Wars. xD But yes, they're very similar.

Peace!
