Below is a list of reasons why Kingdom Hearts III will finally have a strong showing this year.

1. This E3 will mark the third E3 since the game was actually revealed, the game was obviously in the works since 2010 which means that by June some serious ground work should be done. This year things get loud!

2. Nomura's one game per year statement. Many people don't take this seriously, but technically if we're looking at all releases worldwide they have kept to it. If 2016 is dominated by 2.8, then that means KHIII will dominate 2017. If so, we could get a release window at E3, or perhaps Jump Festa if we are less optimistic. :P

3. With 2.8 actually releasing this year, there's no doubt that it will bring much KHIII news with it. 0.2 is basically Kingdom Hearts III prologue anyway.

4. The basic layout of the game was said to be finished 8 months ago. If that was true, a lot of it should be ready to show this year.

5. We've already got the VA Jim Cumming's claiming that he is finished recording for the game. Think of how many cutscenes are ready to show if that is true...

6. The dev team is surprising fans with their development speed on 2.8. If they really get out a game with a lot of new content like 2.8 in just one year, then perhaps they won't be slow on KHIII either.

I realize that these aren't concrete, but they do at least carry some weight and give us hope of plentiful news in 2016!

The only way it will be a strong showing for me if it's announced for the PC, anything else is useless, I know the game is going to be great, but I would rather play it on a great system IE. an AMD Zen based rig with a AMD Polaris Graphics card.

Or at least a GTX 970M with a i7-6700HQ

PS4 is a great system bruh. I'll take a much bigger library over slightly better frame rate any day, but to each his own. You must have played on a console at some point, otherwise how did you get here?

i am not going to hold my breath on anything KH related this year. if something happens, awesome. if not, well it was to be expected.

and wait is development actually moving along quickly on 2.8? idk why but i thought it was going slowly. i may have just picked that up from the speculation of others though. if it is moving along quickly then great.

although i sure hope they're really polishing up 0.2 because oof that thing looked rough in the trailer

It definitely is moving quickly for 2.8. They've got to do A LOT of work on DDD before it will look decent on PS4. Not only that, but they've gotta do something with all those touchscreen functions and combine the game into a single screen experience. The other two chapters are totally new, but yet they've still promised it will drop this year.

1) 2013 had both KHX and HD 1.5 Remix in Japan. ;)

2) In Japan only, not worldwide. :(

3) And yet the Jump Festa trailer for DDD HD last year didn't have a HUD.

No, 2.8 is releasing worldwide this year. And I meant at least one per year.

Seriously?

I don't think it will be as big as you think.  It is likely that they will shoot for a WW release with KH3, which will probably place it fall/holiday next year.  With that, it would still give Square Enix a lot of promotional time next year (E3, TGS, D23).

Square Enix Japan (at least the first few divisions) will have a large focus this year on:

1) Kingdom Hearts 2.8

2) Final Fantasy XV

3) World of FInal Fantasy

4) Final Fantasy VII: Episode 1 (assuming that they aim to have it out for the games 20th anniversary)

5) Final Fantasy X-3 (Highly probable that we hear about it this year)

6) Final Fantasy XII HD

7) Nier: Automata

8) Star Ocean: Integrity & Faithlessness (as they push to revive the series)

KH3 will likely have its presence, but Nomura said that this was a big year of work on KH3, which likely means promotion for it will still be here and there.

Yes, already confirmed by many sources.

OK...what about KH3? Will it really be released next year?

Not confirmed, but extremely likely.

Because if not, you might give me tissues. I'll be dehydrated from so much crying.

I know what you mean! It really needs to come out in 2017. Not to worry, it looks fully on track for that.

I wouldn't mind a full KH collection for PS4 and maybe Xbox.

If not, it would be unfair to its users, right?

Past KH games will never hit Xbox. KH and KH2 have contracts with Sony. And to be honest I'm glad, it was born on Sony after all.

Why bother making KH3 for XBox One, then?

It's not a smart move to be honest. Square wants to sell more copies, but unless they played past games on Sony platforms they'll have no clue what is happening. Honestly it will probably turn people off to the series. A complete KH collection will almost certainly hit PS4 one day though.

SE should have thought about that when they announced KH3.

Wouldn't that delay the next title if it were released before KH3?

It would make sense to come to Xbox, but it doesn't really bother me. I just want to play the games on PS4.

Yes to some extent, unless they outsource it. DotEmu or Bandai Namco could probably handle it for them. KH4 woun't take as long if it runs on the same tech as KH3, which it likely will.

1) Could they?

2) KH4 on the PS4? Really hope you're right, but you saw the time gap between KH2 and KH3, right?

Yes they could, and if they did SE could focus on a new game, but Nomura may not handle it that way.

Yes, it will likely be on PS4. The gap between KH2 and KH3 is because Square was not ready for the HD era, and the story apparently needed many side games to prepare for the next main course. This time SE is use to HD and will have plenty experience with PS4's tech. Also if they use the same engine it'll go even quicker. This'll be a whole new saga so I doubt they'll need any "preparation games".

1) Why not?

2) Hope you're right, man.

3) But what if they decide to remake 358/2 Days and Re: Coded as playable games? And what about the "full version" of 0.2?
