Posted March 4, 20169 yr Just a short video where I share my thoughts on some cartoons that have been recently announced to be getting reboots or remakes! Are you looking forward to these remakes? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdjCVwVD5Vc
March 4, 20169 yr Can I just say that those shows you were complaining about are directed at a completely different generation? Times have changed and interests of kids have changed, so naturally, these remakes and reboots become more than just cringe-worthy for those whom had watched the original. Things such as art style, music etc are all dependent on the team working on them (so if you want to point fingers at a bad art style, at least you know who to blame). Sure, you loved these shows as a kid, but I hate to break it to you, but people who are seeking nostalgia or are wanting some sort of continuation of a show that they loved as kids aren't the target audience. One day, the kids of this generation will grow up and complain about the same thing you were complaining about now. It will be a never ending cycle. Remakes, annoyed and self-entitled fans (which clearly and thankfully, you aren't) and nothing but sooking.
March 4, 20169 yr Based on the comment above me, I think I've got the gist of what's been talked about here. Look, things are going to be different, there's no point in getting fussy over little changes like these. If anything, PPG's changes look VERY minimalist at most, they could have done this SO much differently than how they're doing it now (like with that weird cardboard special, god that was weird...). Samurai Jack I have heard/seen almost nothing of so far but I have no doubt that it will be pretty cool in its own way with the same spirit as the original, even if it isn't exactly the same as it used to be. I'm willing to bet, without even watching the video, that you brought up Teen Titans GO as an example, didn't you? .....If not, I relinquish all my cookies....But my point being that just because ONE particular show is doing a terrible job at being a cartoon remake doesn't doom the entire concept altogether. If anything these aren't remakes, they're continuations of some kind. I mean PPG was never one to fret over continuity and episode order except where it mattered ("Oh no, that one villain we've already been introduced to is at it again!" "Hey look at these cool powers I got from that one episode!"), and again, I don't know much about Samurai Jack's new show, but I'm fairly certain it's going to be a continuation considering how the original just sort of ended out of nowhere (didn't it? It's been a while). These shows are CN's first honest to goodness interest in it's legacy I have seen in a long time (no waaaay am I counting GO or that poor imitation of Tom and Jerry) and they don't sound like they are trying to change up the spirit of what they are in the slightest apart from aesthetic tastes (Oh no, Bubbles and Buttercup's hair are slightly different. The horror!). In fact, if these shows actually do pretty well, maybe it will actually open the doors for other shows that could well do with a return, like Codename: Kids Next Door. The only reason that isn't a thing now is because CN turned down the pitch for a new KND series when Warburton and co. pulled that awesome stunt last year, claiming that there was no interest within the network to make such a thing happen. Now suddenly we're seeing actual interest in giving two other CN classics getting their second chances, so if CN sees this as a successful strategy they might just change their minds follow suit with other series including KND. This holds great potential and possibilities and from what I've seen so far it doesn't look half bad. It's not exactly like I remembered it, sure, but I haven't seen these shows in ages and I'm not going to let nostalgia blind me from any great strengths they may have as shows by themselves. In a sense they may be slightly aiming towards adults who saw these as kids and nostalgia will still play some role in how they are enjoyed (I mean I'll still be nostalgic in my own way), but like Magician said they are primarily intended for TODAY'S kids. We can enjoy them too, and maybe a good deal of what is made in them is meant to be a nod or a wink to us, but we are not who they are supposed to be catering to, not entirely anyway. The TV is a shared set now more than ever, and it's good that the shows today are reflecting the times in this kind of a manner. I completely agree with you, I apparently made this video while being blinded by nostalgia, fully knowing the reason why many of these shows are the way they are now a days yet I still made this video without even mentioning it. Thank you for commenting this, whenever I make videos like this again I will be sure to take note of all surrounding viewpoints before making such videos again. Thank you and have a nice day!
March 4, 20169 yr Times have changed and interests of kids have changed, so naturally, these I'm not so sure that's the case. I don't think it's the kids that changed. I just think these days we adults have a different idea of what's 'appropriate" for them. We like to think they're a lot more pure an innocent than they really are. Samurai Jack is an excellent example, it was on the normal CN back in the day, but to make a faithful continuation/reboot it has to be on AS. It's not even an attempt at a reboot, it's a blatant, intentional mockery. Yeah when I heard about it I could not believe people where b*tching about Bubble's barrettes. I personally ever heard them say anything about Buttercup's cowlick though. Just goes to show you people will latch on the any little detail to complain about and use as a reason why it'll never be good as their precious childhood original. On a side note, I think ADHD's spoof "HBO's 'The Powerpuff girls'" was hilarious. Edited March 4, 20169 yr by Isamu_Kuno

March 5, 20169 yr Author Oh, since we're talking (in part) about the PPG reboot, have this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFkTg27ErWA Looks good to me.
March 6, 20169 yr Saw the Intro for the PPG Reboot. In my opinion, as i don't like to talk about cartoons for just for the sake of not start fights, i'm ok with reboots and Remakes. WHAT i don't like is when people lost there minds with a reboot, not all reboots are meant for the fans of the original, it's meant for the new generation, but they are not mocking the originals and i'm not going to touch you know what show that the internet just loves to hate a lot with no reason.
