The 2DS Gets a Price Cut and Will Cost $79.99

Featured Replies

I'll still wait a bit more, until Pokemon sun and moon come out and we'll see then :D

Missing fire emblem atm but meh, time will come, it will get lower I'm sure eheh

Awwww yeah! That's so awesome. Now when I get my 2DS it'll be cheaper~

Why is it still so expensive?

It's really not that expensive. For a current generation handheld it's really cheap. A regular 3DS cost like 300.

Well then a regular 3DS is a stab in the wallet XDD

that's not a lot for a handled, a game now a days is $60 so it's just $20 dollars more.

Typo? Even if so, used regular 3DS go for $70-90 on eBay.

Well i was consider getting a 2DS 'cause Sibilings wanted that :P But as long Pokémon Sun works on 2DS i'm ok with it.

More like nuke to a wallet.

Nope. Not a typo sadly. The most recent 3DS is 299.99$ (at least at my job) That was a few months ago so it could be cheaper now I don't know. I just know recently I saw that it was 300. It's kinda ridiculous, but the 3DS (at least the most latest one) is overrated. 80% of people don't even bother using the 3D function so the 2DS is a far better choice. It does the same exact thing a 3DS does aside from a few features that's not even a big deal. Yeah, there is games that is exclusive to the 3DS but honestly unless you're absolutely obsessed with said games, the 2DS is just a far better handheld to go with especially if you're tight on money.

Whatever, thing is that is very expensive! xD (English isn't my first language, and I wasn't sure how that idiom was written xD

What kind of shop is that... I mean it sounds like scalpers trying to sell off limited edition New 3DS' XL.

The New 3DS XL is only $199.99. If the place you work at is selling it for $299.99, they're going way over the MSRP. ._.

As for the whole 2DS being the best option, it really just depends on what you want out of the system. As a New XL owner myself, I'm happy with the improved hardware (Means I can play my two favorite games of all time on the system and I don't get crap load times in Smash), extra buttons and C-Stick (Even if they don't work with every game, they're very nice in the ones they do work with. C-Stick's also a life-saver to a lefty like me; I can actually play Kid Icarus Uprising, even if the controls aren't perfect. Also love camera controls in Monster Hunter), improved battery life and screen size. It's also nice being able to just shut the system and keep it in my pocket, which wouldn't be as easy to do with a 2DS. I have nothing against the 2DS and it's a great option for people that don't mind getting fewer features, although my gaming interests make the New XL the best option in my mind. The reason that all of these different models are made is that everyone has different playstyles, and each variation's better suited towards different playstyles.

I think a New 3DS XL retails at $199.99, and with a game bundled it is closer to $239. I paid roughly $250 for my bundled regular 3DS, and I think my sister paid about $200 for her XL. Granted this was many years back when the 3DS was still new. Overall, though, the 2DS is very reasonable at 79.99. A handheld console of that quality costs, and if comparing it to its 3DS equivalent that's not bad at all.

I don't want the 2DS simply because it doesn't close. The amount of times I drop my stuff, that thing would be broken. Already have a friend that totally busted their 2DS screen. I have the $200 3ds XL, it was worth it, and I never play on 3d mode.

I use a 2DS. I have a lot of people ask me why I do not own a 3DS. I could by a dress from Angelic Pretty for the cost of a 3DS.

Of course I am having a 2DS.

A 3DS is expensive.

Oh wow, that's actually a pretty good price drop! 80 bucks isn't all that bad!  It's just 20 bucks more expensive than a game you'd get for 60 bucks, so that's a pretty swell deal! I already have my normal 3DS though, so I'm good!  But for those people looking to get into the 2DS, this is good news for them! :D

I think I'll wait too. Pokemon S&M and digital Blue are all I'd want for the system anyway.
