Fps question

30 frames per second is the framerate most games run on nowadays. 60 frames per second is a framerate that makes the game run smoother. Just compare the gameplay segments of DDD3d to DDDHD and you'll see it! :)

So frame rate makes a game run smoother?

yes, if you look a video at 30 fps and 60 fps, you will see the difference between them

60FPS is double 30FPS and makes the game feel smoother and snappier and faster to play. If you have a gaming PC, nowadays those get up to 144FPS depending on what GPU and settings you're using. 60FPS has pretty much been standard on PC for the last 8 years and now 100+ FPS is becoming standard on PC. Consoles are shifting to standard 60FPS but this process is slow due to hardware limitations of the consoles, which is why a game like DDD is 60FPS on PS4 compared to 0.2 which is 30FPS (0.2 has better visuals and is running on a new engine).

Here, I'll break it down simpler.

FPS stands for Frames Per Second. This can also be referred to as framerate. An individual frame is like a picture that the machine creates and displays on your screen. So, if you were at 1 FPS, you'd essentially be seeing one image every second. (This would be an extremely laggy, or slow, experience) 30 FPS is the standard framerate for most KH games (except for DDDHD, which will run at a very smooth 60 FPS) and creates 30 pictures every second that you play the game. This is what allows the game to animate every movement taking place in the models or environment. While 30 FPS is standard, it's also a bit choppy at times because of the subtle but present jumps between frames which make it look less smooth than 60 FPS. Sometimes, when entering an area especially crowded with models or environments, the graphics card (which handles all of these changes) can get a little overwhelmed and create less frames per second to compensate for the amount of data involved. A 60 FPS experience would essentially look like it's moving at a normal speed like in real life. I hope that cleared things up.

Well let's put it this way, research has shown that to most people, anything at 150 FPS or higher is seen as true motion. As in that's the frame rate at which things appear to be moving completely naturally and no slow down is noticeable. So the closer you get to that, the better.

It doesn't have to do with the amount of enemies on the screen or anything that drops the frame rate, its all to do with good programming and stuff as far as I know. I can't really explain it, all I'll say is if you go from playing GTAV at 30 FPS and then play it on PC at 60 you'll instantly notice the difference.
