There are Technos, those who wish to create technology. Anthros, those who want to connect with Earth itself. The Medivals, those who focus more on the Dark Ages. And The Citys, which treat each culture equally and experiment by combining them in unique ways. But soon...A great evil is about to arise...The same evil that came in the past...And I assume you all want to hear the tale that will be told...The story of how an unlikely team...Allies...Friends...Came together and saved the world while facing hardships, discoveries, and regrets...This is the story...The Legend...The myth of how...In the City of Aquila...Where classmates joined together to explore the world never tamed....

A building that was the size of a Skyscraper stood alongside buildings of unthinkable height. People came and went on their normal lives, playing on their phones, trying to get to work on time, and of course, kids playing around on the sidewalk.

With everything that was happening outside, it was a very important day for some at the Aquilia Combat School. (The building that was as tall as a skyscraper)

In one room, many students, roughly 30-35 students, talked and roamed around Room 408, a class that specializes in offensive and defensive skills. One student wore a Red Mage outfit with a black feather instead of the traditional white feather. Her body was laid back in her desk, with her feet crossed and resting on top of her desk. Her hands were behind her head and her hat covered her eyes. Sure, the class was bit loud, but it didn't bother her. She was used to it.

"Today's the big day!" A female student said.

"I'm a bit nervous...I-I don't know if I'll do well..." A male student said.

"Hey, cheer up! We're all doing this together you know. We'll be by your side and help you out." A male student said with a higher-pitched voice.

"Hah! Don't make me laugh." Another female student suddenly said. She looked to be about 17, given her appearance and height. Her hair was long and blonde and her clothes were more on a rebel styled attire. A smirk was on her face as she overheard the recent conversation. She leaned on the side of the wall with her arms crossed and her eyes closed. "You low-lives won't even remember how to punch once you get there. Unlike me, you don't stand a chance." She said with a very confident, yet rude tone.

"Says the garbage bagged girl." The Red Mage said. The classroom giggled a bit at her comment. The Rebel clothed girl growled at the Red Mage and opened her mean eyes. "Shut it, Solisa. Once I'm through with you, you'll be "Sol-Loser"." The Rebel responded.

"Wow...." The Red Mage replied. "That pun was as outdated as your clothing. Not-To-Be-Sold." The class bursts into laughter. The Red Mage wasn't afraid of this cocky-bully. "Why you little...!" The Rebel then walked to the Red Mage's desk and slammed her hands on the Red Mage's desk. "Listen, you peeping pipsqueak. I'm trying not to get in trouble today. So shut up or else I'll pound you before the exam even starts! Got it!?"

"....That's it? You'll pound me? Sheesh, for trying to be a good student I'm glad you ain't an angel Sara."

"SHUT UP!!" Sara yelled out with rage. "Don't make me come back, you Mage maggot." With that, she took a deep breath and walked back to her spot, leaning against the wall and crossed her arms.

Solisa chuckled at Aaron's sudden comment. She could tell that he was a bit nervous about this. She winked at the boy behind her and grinning. "Same here. You might've heard, but my name's Solisa. Heh!" She greeted the boy back.

Elsa sighed in relief, knowing that the outcome could've been worse if she had allowed the Gaster Blaster to attack Sara. But she soon snapped out of her thoughts when saw that Aaron had come up to them to introduce himself, though he was shy about it. She smiled softly at him and said, "Hello there, Aaron. It's nice to meet you. My name is Elsa S. Jones. But you can call me Elsa for short."

Grace looks at Aaron and walks towards him. She smiled warmly at him as she decided to introduce herself to him. "Nice to meet you, Aaron. I'm Grace." She bowed to him politely. She can tell that he's shy and a bit nervous. "There's no need to be nervous. Don't worry about it 'kay?" She said with a smile on her face.

Aaron was glad to see such a friendly group of people. He was really glad to hear all of his comrades together and flustered by their almost overwhelming outgoingness. Even Solisa's... very warm welcome was a pleasant surprise despite her dispute with... Sara was it?.... from earlier. She seems pretty cool. All of them do! He thought.

Solisa seemed like a pretty chill chick. Sassy, yet fierce. He liked that quality, and noted this when speaking to her. She had a fire and flame, a torch waiting to be lit upon dark nights. A dependable flame, but also someone who kept it real. That was someone to keep close by.

Elsa.... Elsa seemed beautiful, but something told Aaron that she had a story, that she had age over the rest of the girls, and that her past was much different than it seemed on the outside....

And Grace. Her name, her demeanor... she definitely seemed like a cherry blossom, passing, yet precious. Aaron saw something about her through her smile, it seemed there one moment, and gone the next... but it was a smile that seemed memorable. A smile of friendship, of a seeming care and nurturing nature for the group. Her hair reminded him of snow. A brisk winter snowfall, masking a sweet springtime blossom.

"Hey hey, I'm alright" Aaron assured them. He definitely didn't wanna seem like a wimp, especially in a group of ladies as the only guy, but he skirted through his mind to find out the words dancing through his head for them. These girls definitely seemed to be a great fit for the team not only for their abilities but their combat skills too. He kinda felt glad that the girl Sara wasn't in the group... he was sure a team with her and Solisa and Elsa wouldn't go so smooth.

"And what about you?" Aaron turned to the quiet one of the group, a confident turn of the shoulder led him to face the girl. She almost seemed to disappear... As if she wasn't there in the first place. She sure seemed smart, streetwise, as her worn clothes and mangled hair suggested. Aaron wasn't blind, well not anymore anyway, and however naïve he seemed to the others... he was sure to be a person to check things out before making a scene. Who is she? Aaron wondered.

Still thinking about summons, Laz's ears pirked up when the Technos boy blurted out a hasty introduction.  Oh, he's the one that has a crush on She-devil.  I'm surprised that he's so shy; Technos aren't the feely type, she thought as she turned towards him, and she could have sworn that his eyes changed colors.  Well, they are robotic after all.

Solisa winked at him and introduced herself.  The girl with the skull summon also introduced herself, Elsa she now learned.  Finally, the other bluenette gave her name and bowed.  I can never understand why knights do that; I mean its obvious that you don't give a crap about him or us, Laz almost scoffed, Typical knight acting.  Just be honest with us; don't try to pretend to be so courteous.  But she does have blue hair like me, so maybe she won't be so bad?

The knight Grace then tried to calm Aaron, and it seemed to work as he assured them that he was okay.  "And what about you?" he suddenly asked the Anthros teen.  Hm, I wonder... Laz smirked a little before quickly grabbing his hand and encasing it with her own.  "I am Lazuli" she boldly declared, her smirk turning into a full out grin, "the greatest treasure hunter on this world!  So don't forget it."  She let his hand go as quickly as she grabbed it, and started walking again.  "Oh, but you can call me Laz," she said over her shoulder and waved.  Hee-hee, I wonder what his reaction'll be?  She didn't even notice that her tail was wagging like a happy dog's, though it had been since she got with her team.

Aaron's heart crawled from his skin, ready to jump out of his thumping chest. A pinkish glow flushed through his face, and his eyes changed to match. After all, he definitely didn't expect the girl to swipe his hands like that... He appreciated it.

Laz....

Laz was the most confusing girl of all, the one that seemed so easy to get ahold of but so hard to keep. It seemed like she fluttered to him then danced away, so quickly. She was definitely the mischievous type, and yet, she rung up the most questions in his mind... She was sI'm omething that appeared, something that flirted with the curiosity in his mind and then vanished as he gathered his breath to ask a question. It wasn't as if she actually did, she just gave that vibe to him, and he trembled at that feeling. He didn't know what to think of her. Yet, with a short wisp of breath he decided to trust her.

He trusted all of them. And boldly, he met their confidence with his own. A bold smirk ran across Aaron's face, one that he hoped conveyed friendship and trust between these comrades of his.

With that, Aaron declared "I'm ready for what's gonna happen. And I'm going to be the best teammate I can be for all of you. Don't sweat a thing, I've got your back! And I trust you to have mine. With me?!"

Elsa had a surprised look on her face when the girl that had come in late, Lazuli as she called herself, held Aaron's hand and flirted with him, then just walked away afterwards. But when she saw the expression on his face, she giggled a bit. His face looks so cute. It reminds me of how my husband looked at me when i had first bumped into him at college..., she thought happily. Then she placed a hand on his shoulder and said to Aaron, "You okay there, sweetie?"

Edited by KHUndertaleFan25

Elsa's question caught Aaron off guard even after his confident speech of trust, but he might as well come clean. With a defenseless shrug, he said "I'm an open book, aren't I? I get flustered over the smallest things, honestly." He forced a small chuckle to Elsa. He wasn't necessarily sure what to say... Aaron was never great at hiding his feelings, and honestly little things like that made him... feel. He felt shy and embarrassed at the time... embarrassed, but glad.

Laz was pretty cute after all.

It is definitely a great feeling, he thought, to be comfortable with people who aren't related by blood, like they all were at home.

Edited by Sun Wukong

"I think you're definitely an open book, Aaron. And don't worry about being flustered. I thought you looked pretty cute when you made that face." Elsa replied, taking her hand off his shoulder to smile at his enthusiasm. She was reminded of herself when she was in college and how her future was so bright until that one night. Her heart sank and she frowned when she thought of that moment, wanting to forget it immediately.

Glancing over his shoulder, Aaron beamed a bright grin "Oh AM I?"...
...but he caught a glimpse of Elsa's falling, frowned face. They'd only just met but, he loathed the sadness he caused her. Without second thought, without even a moment's hesitation, he'd tossed an arm on her shoulder, saying "Hey, sorry about that, Elsa".

Edited by Sun Wukong

That moment... I hate so much..., Elsa thought, looking down at her feet. Until she felt an arm on her and she looked up to see that was Aaron. She smiled a little and said, "It's fine, Aaron. I was just... thinking of something that had happened to me once."

A breath of relief rushed down Aaron, but he tried to assure Elsa with "If you need anything let me know!" He'd been adamant about being open with his group. He wanted to know what Elsa was thinking... but with so little time spent together he pushed thoughts like those out of his mind. Instead, he decided to ask around about the combat exam to the group. He asked the group

"So... are combat exams a normal thing? Tell me how they work. "

Edited by Sun Wukong

She looks at Elsa and smiled warmly. "Elsa... that's a pretty name. I like it." She tries to cheer her up as she walks towards her and hugged her. (I wish my family was still alive....) she lets go of her and nodded at her. "Please don't be sad." She said to her, then she looks at Aaron. "Yes, it is." She said to him.

Edited by Yessie Maltese

Elsa felt a bit glad to see that two of her teammates helped her out. Maybe this'll turn out good, after all..., she thought. Then when Aaron had asked about the combat exams, she was stumped. She had never been in one because she was a natural at using her powers. So she stayed quiet and decided to listen to what they were about.

Kelon was merely folding his arms, just thinking of what could happen. He still felt irked that he was on Sara's team, as he felt that she may end up ruining the test, and worse, due to her behavior. He had to get through this, as he needed to keep the act up. He had to endure all of this so that he could continue putting it up. He was hoping that the test was quick, and that it won't take long.

Laz smiled after hearing Aaron's determination.  I'm glad he's becomin' more confident, she thought, as she walked ahead of her teamates, he really reminds me of Kuraido back home.  They're both so shy and cute; they even look similar.  The Anthros chuckled a little when comparing this new guy and her best friend together, but then she stopped.  Wait a minute; could I be wrong about Aaron too?  I mean Technos guys don't have emotions, but yet he does...  Boy, I hope this isn't gonna start becomin' the norm... me bein' wrong all the time... I don't think I could stand it.

"I can explain it to ya." Solisa looked back with a bright smile, seemingly cheerful as ever. "It's the most fun thing we do every school year! And the best part is, it's different everytime. Last year, it was like a martial arts tournament. Of course, me and Sissy-Face fought each other there." She snickered. Sara scoffed at the mention of last year's combat exam. "It ended in a tie, ya know." She said. Solisa chuckled. "Well, that's true. Wish it coulda' lasted longer though. It was gettin' exciting!" Solisa said with a giggle. "Hee Hee Hee Hee!" Sara groaned a little when Solisa giggled. If that Black Mage won this round, she would never hear the end of that...That laugh.

Ms. Genka chuckled a little, hearing the interactions of her own students. Just hearing them talking gives me the feeling that they're going to do something great in their lives... Soon the groups walked out of the front doors of the school. Ms. Genka turned around to face her students. Sara looked around, expecting something to happen. "So uh, I'm guessin' this year's exam ain't gonna take place here in campus." She commented.

"Correct, Young Sara. After your little match last year, we decided to go 'Out of town' so to speak." Ms. Genka responded with her classic grin.

Suddenly, a sound that's similar to a helicopter coming to the ground could be heard. Solisa and Sara looked around to see where the noise was coming from. Sara looked up and saw something huge. Her mouth and eyes went wide open. "Ya'll, look at that!" She yelled out, pointing up in the sky. A few feet away from Ms. Genka was a huge wooden ship with an anchor, two choppers, and (....Forgive me for calling these this) Landing legs.

The wind blew more furiously as the airship came closer to the ground. Once it landed, a door opened from its side and stairs descended from the door to the ground. Coming out from the door was a man wearing a green scarf, black sunglasses, a white jacket unzipped, a blue shirt, jeans, and black shoes. He had blonde hair and a confident smirk on his face. Once there were 3 steps left for him to get off, he jumped over them and faced the kids and their teacher. He took of the sunglasses and revealed his eyes. The man chuckled and waved. "HEEEY!! Come on over! We've got places to go and a sight to see!" He yelled to them.

Solisa gasped with her eyes sparkling with excitement. Next to Grace (and possibly Sara) was her most favorite person in the world. "UNCLE CIIID!!" She yelled out. "Uncle Cid is back ya'll! WOO-HOO!! Uncle Cid!!" She dashed right passed Ms. Genka and Johnny, just to hug Cid ever so tightly. "I missed you, ya know? Where've ya been?"

"Hey, hey, easy, easy Sol. Heh heh!" Cid was taken aback from the hug. It was the thing he was expecting from Solisa, but yet, he least expected it.

So that's how combat exams work..., Elsa thought, taking this to mind very carefully. She snickered at Sara's expression to hearing Solisa's laugh, but soon snapped out of her thoughts when she saw the airship. "Wow! This looks so amazing!" Elsa exclaimed, never having seen one before. She wanted to get on the ship so badly so that she could explore it. But she waited until it was time to go on.

No freaking way! Cid, in the flesh! The man he heard of in stories at home, ones of extreme and awesome adventures gunslinging, gargantuan airships, and quirky humor. To see him right before his eyes.... Definitely an epic surprise.

THE Cid was the aid of all the greatest heroes' adventures... Aaron was almost unable to contain himself but his excitement was the harbringer of confusion… why was he making such a grand entrance here of all places?

Edited by Sun Wukong

Kelon looked on at Cid with a rather stern look for a quick moment, as if he was studying him. He was wondering why he was here of all places, and during a time like this, although he assumed it was most likely that he would transport him and his class to where the exams were to be, but still, he was curious. He was only concerned in watching over the people for some reason. He was also thinking about what he would do after the exam was over. "So, Cid is here... I wonder why..." Thought Kelon, mentally thinking to himself in his head.

Edited by KHLegendIII

Johnny had seen a few different airships before, but this one might have taken the cake. However, Johnny knew to never bring this up if he got home. Emblem the Amazing might take issue with saying such blasphemy against the airship that saved his life more than once.Willow was in awe of the massive ship. She had seen them up in the sky before, but this...Wow.Willow began to jump up and down, leaning over to her companions, "Wow! Would you guys look at the size of that airship? Look at the fins! The propellers!"

"Hey, check it! The one and only Cid is here!" Aaron snuck up to Kelon, who seemed to be looking Cid's way. Aaron wasn't much of a chatterbox, but after acquainting himself with his team, he had the urge to talk to the others.

"Hey," he continued "how ironic to have related to CID show up in the school too, huh? Sounded to me like Solisa called him 'Uncle'". He nudged Kelon a little, and grinned.

Edited by Sun Wukong

They all finally made it outside when Sara asked what would be happening.  When Ms. Genka answered that the exams would be taken out of town, Laz couldn't help but let out a booming, "AW HELL YEAH!"  However, even her exuberance was deafened by the thunderous propellers coming from the airship above them.

Once it landed, a rebellious and handsome looking middle aged man came walking out of it.  "HEEEY!! Come on over! We've got places to go and a sight to see!" he yelled out.  Suddenly, she saw Solisa run up to him and squeeze the daylights out of him.  But it was what the black mage said that shocked the Anthros.

Wait, this is the Cid?!  The famous adventurer? Laz thought, completely floored, and forgetting that Solisa called him 'uncle.'  The one that used to be with the Aribias, but left to join the military?  She glared at him a little.  I heard that he stole something from one of our leaders before leaving.  Hm, maybe there's a chance I could steal it back or fight him.  She grinned at that.  This could be fun~

  • Author

Ms. Genka couldn't help but laugh at everybody's reactions. She nodded and managed to catch her breath. "Everyone. This is my good friend, Cid Rider Jr., the famous adventurer, mechanic, inventor, and #1 treasure hunter." She explained.

Cid walked over to Ms. Genka and the other kids...While Solisa was holding on to his left leg, slowing him down a bit. "Heh heh. I don't know about famous, but I am pretty good at the things I do." The man looked down at the ecstatic Black Mage. "Including taking care of this one from time to time." He said, adding in a small chuckle.

Sara looked confused as ever. Sure, she was standing before one of the most famous, awesome people in all of Orbis in the entire universe...

"Um...Did anyone catch that Feather-Head here called this guy 'Uncle'?" She mentioned. Cid gave a laugh and looked back down at Solisa. "Let's just say I'm like a father-figure to her." He said. Solisa giggled with glee, making Sara groan again. The mage then let go of Cid's leg and stood up with her eyes still sparkling. "Uncle Cid is like, my to me! I always used to travel with him when I was real young before he dropped me off here when I was eight." Sara's eyes widened. "...You? Of all people, you, got to travel with Cid Rider for how long!?"

"Mmmm....4 years." Solisa answered, adding a giggle. "He took care of me for a bit ever since I was three. Don't remember where I came from though."
