Gamespot recently published an extensively detailed overview of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new character inclusions since the game's initial announcement. In addition, several representatives from various partnered companies also provided comments, including Disney and Pixar Games' Vice President Luigi Priore and Kingdom Hearts series director, Tetsuya Nomura.
Priore stated that the company was delighted by the positive fan reaction to Sora's inclusion, with various online videos being continually spectacular experiences to watch.
Further, Priore provided the following statement on what brought about the decision to include Sora in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:
Priore goes on to state how Sora is an "incredibly important character" to Disney, while also providing a heart-warming comment that replicates the reason why so many are endeared by Sora joining the title:
Moving on to Nomura, he admitted that they purposefully refrained from announcing any of the 20th-anniversary news prior to the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation since that would have initiated suspicion from fans.
Alongside stating how the fan reception has exceeded his expectations, Nomura said Sora's handshake with Mario "was an element [they] were insistent about including, so [he hopes] fans noticed and enjoyed it."
To close out the article, Nomura emphasized his gratefulness to having 3 of his characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:

The official Tokyo Disney Resort website has shared details on the Kingdom Hearts Disney ambassador hotel rooms announced last month.
The starting reservation price for staying in a room is ¥77,500 (approximately $686.74). Reservation opportunities initiate on December 6th, 2021. These rooms commemorate the Kingdom Hearts franchise's 20th anniversary and will be present from January 6th, 2022, to April 27th, 2022. In addition, unique purchasable products, decor, and Kingdom Hearts-themed menu items will be available.
Let's provide a brief rundown of the aforementioned inclusions:

Speaking of Keyblades, the room key is a miniature replica of the Oblivion Keyblade. Lastly, the rooms have a treasure chest designed by their appearances from the games and contain a "secret" item that is unspecified.
The photo of the room reveals bedsheets of Sora and Kairi's throne artworks with several framed pictures on the walls that seem to be from the Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory boxart.

So, Sora's out in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. But how does he play, exactly? Over the past day, I've played around with him a bit in Classic Mode, online, and World of Light, and I have pretty positive thoughts!

Honestly, when it comes to his overall feel, there's not much to say here; he's pretty fun and shockingly faithful to the games. However, it isn't just his moves; even his movement feels very Sora in a somewhat tricky way to pin down. He's light, agile, and pretty much everything he does is taken directly from the Kingdom Hearts games. He even dual-wields in the style of Valor Form if you pick up an item, which I thought was a pretty nice touch!

His basic attacks reference various moves and abilities throughout the series, such as his dash attack being reminiscent of Sliding Dash. Additionally, he retains his basic 3 hit combos for both air and ground. And, although most of his kit is taken from KH1, several of his moves originated elsewhere in the series, including his up smash being taken from KH3's Magic Flash ability.

The stage is also beautiful; it's an exceptional recreation of Hollow Bastion. Unlike many other stages, it has no area-specific hazards to deal with, letting you face off against your opponent(s) without worrying about the location itself being an enemy. I also like the touch with the Station of Awakening, which lets a few of the KH characters that we got as Spirits cameo in the background with their stained glass designs, making for a dramatic finale

His Classic Mode seems decently well crafted and primarily utilizes Stamina Mode, which makes sense to me given how Kingdom Hearts’ combat works. It pits you against a series of opponents mimicking his enemies. Mr. Game & Watch as Heartless, the white-haired Robins as Xehanort, and a fun little reference to KH1 with him facing off against Cloud in a coliseum map; not to mention a mirror match against Sora himself. His ending image seems to reference KH3, being extremely reminiscent of the Final World, with Sora staring off into the distance…

Compared to other characters, Sora seems reasonably well balanced, in my opinion. He is both light and agile, letting him pull off insane recoveries, but also having the weakness of being relatively easy to catapult off the stage entirely even at moderate levels of % damage. There were some fears of having a repeat of SSB4 (Wii U and 3DS) Bayonetta, but while he has some decent combos, they aren't quite as horrifying as hers was, so far as I can tell. Although, ultimately, we'll see how other, more experienced players hash out the details of his kit.

Overall I am delighted with how he's turned out in the game. The only real complaint I have is the sheer amount of mirror matches online. But… then again, what could be more appropriate to Kingdom Hearts than Sora facing off against himself?

On October 10th, 2008, KH13 launched with the sole intention of uploading easily accessible high-quality cutscenes from the Kingdom Hearts franchise. And, while those humble beginnings did kickstart the website, KH13 eventually grew to tackle every facet of Kingdom Hearts, from news regarding video games to coverage on various forms of official merchandise.
Now, KH13 boasts an immense, easy-to-navigate series of galleries housing several media such as official renders and artwork. Compiled interviews with series' staff members and timely news articles on the current state of affairs with the Kingdom Hearts franchise have also become embedded in KH13's identity.
Scheduled events like the Fan Art Features, Polls of Week, and giveaways has bolstered our communication and connections with fellow Kingdom Hearts fans. Additionally, our consistent Birthday posts celebrating numerous franchise staff members and voice actors/actresses have aided in connecting the Kingdom Hearts community in ways I doubt anyone would have thought possible a mere decade ago.
We have seen the Kingdom Hearts series grow considerably over the past few years. Kingdom Hearts III was finally released with the Re Mind DLC following only a year afterward. Melody of Memory was an unexpected sleeper hit that has helped prep us for the future with Re Mind's story. Next, Kingdom Hearts Union χ[Cross] concluded after over 5 years of service. Then Kingdom Hearts Dark Road began and went into hiatus as suddenly as it was announced. Still, its conclusion is only a few months away.
The Kingdom Hearts games made their way to the Xbox platforms and PC, with Nintendo Switch releases looming over the horizon. As a result, the series is growing more accessible than ever before, and while there are still steps that need to be taken, such as the Cloud Gaming controversy of the Switch ports, the fact remains that more fans than ever before will have access to the series.
We can't forget to mention that Sora has recently joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a dream that many thought would simply remain that. A dream. Between that bombshell of an occurrence and the 20th anniversary of the franchise being only months away, the future will undoubtedly be full of equally colossal news, and we ask that you stick with us as we all greet it together.
We want to thank Kimpchuu and Andrew Hankinson for all of the work they have put into creating custom graphics for us such as logos and banners! You can view some of the incredible logos they have made for us via our gallery below:
KH13 has become the undeniable, go-to online locale for everything Kingdom Hearts-related, and we look forward to seeing it grow alongside all of you. On a personal note, while I have only been here for a few years, it's been a joyous time seeing both our community and the Kingdom Hearts series prosper with one another. KH13 has been here for 13 years, and despite this comical numeric tie-in with the Kingdom Hearts series itself, we have no intention of stopping our qualitative and consistent coverage.
Regardless of the uncertainty a post-Kingdom Hearts III world once brought, the future is looking brighter than ever before, and we're eager to see it. Thank you for sticking with KH13 and here's to 13 more years!
Twitter user @PushDustIn recently shared translations of a Famitsu column detailing Sora's arrival into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This column states that Sora had an expected arduous barrier of entry to prevail against due to his ties with Disney.
However, a chance meeting at an award show between Sakurai and a Disney executive led to the talks initially beginning. After Sakurai expressed his desire to see Sora join the title, lengthy discussions between Nintendo, Disney, and Square Enix occurred to see this dream finally come to fruition.
Translator Ryokutya2089 also provided his interpretation of this news.
This is quite poetic in a sense, considering how the sheer existence of Kingdom Hearts as a franchise only happened because of a chance meeting.
In addition, Sora's internal codename is "Trail," interestingly enough. This perhaps hearkens to the end of the original Kingdom Hearts, where Sora, Donald, and Goofy chase Pluto across the long and winding trail leading to Castle Oblivion, but that's just speculation on my part.
Square Enix has revealed the Kingdom Hearts III Namine Bring Arts figure, now available for pre-order from their Japan E-store. Additionally, Namine is priced at ¥9,680 (roughly $84.75), and her planned release date is August 6th, 2022.
You can also pre-order the Kingdom Hearts III Namine Bring Arts figure from AmiAmi for a discounted price of ¥8,170 (roughly $71.53)
