  1. Well the systems came with warranties although those warranties have expired. The DS I simply can't have fixed by Nintendo due to the fact that the serial number is gone (the ink faded away). The other systems I never bothered with. As for proper care,- for the DS I never abused it or anything, but it might have been something I did. I used to carry it around a lot so it might have somehow been damaged and also it got dirty so I used to wipe it off and I suppose the moisture could have gotten to it. Still, I wouldn't have expected a charging issue to have come out of ither of those things... the system itself works fine (other than charging). - the DSi and Wii... it was nothing that I did at all. I have always taken good care of the DSi (I don't even remember ever dropping it) and the Wii is stationary so no way that it ever could have been damaged.
  2. Something I've noticed... I think that hardware (specifically Nintendo products) is getting worse in terms of quality. My DS became entirely useless after it stopped charging for some unknown reason (having nothing to do with the battery or with the charger... it is a problem with the system itself). And I wasn't abusing it or being overly rough with it. Then the other day I notice that my DSi's L button has lost functionality... only working some of the time and usually needing to be pressed in really hard / held in order to do anything. However, looking back on older systems -- my GameBoy Color and my GameBoy Advance... I've never had a single problem with them. And I probably used them even more than my DSs. Then there's the Wii. The fact that it is impossible to turn off (so that the power button does not remain lit at all) without unplugging the system makes me nervous. As a matter of fact, I've noticed that sometimes my Wii turns itself on and the disc slot starts glowing. And I've had a friend whose Wii turned itself on and overheated... and now it can't properly display the graphics. Nothing even close to this has ever happened to any of my older Nintendo systems. Then there's the problem with the Wii controllers... I put new batteries in, then a few months later (even if I haven't used the controller at all) the batteries are completely drained / dead. This may not be a hardware issue but it is certainly poor design. This never happened with my Wavebird controller for GCN. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  3. If you believe that you disappear from existence upon dieing then why are you not afraid? That makes death sound like a bad thing... something that should be feared. As for proof of the afterlife from a non-religious view... impossible. If you believe in religion (and I think nearly all religions are this way) the afterlife is not a place in our world. If it's not in our world... and I think we can all agree that there's no way to view what's in other worlds... then it is impossible to obtain physical evidence of it's existence. No testimonial evidence either, since (according to my religion anyway) it is impossible to come back from the afterlife... and even if you could / even in religions that believe that it is possible... a person who does not believe in any afterlife will simply not believe the witness's testimony (either passing it off as lies, a hoax, or insanity). As for me... I don't fear death at all. And I do believe in the afterlife... specifically I believe in Heaven, Hell, and a temporary Purgatory. You could say that I fear the possibility of ending up in Hell, but I really don't think that I'm going there so I don't ever worry about it. And Heaven is so much better than Earth so I have no reason to want to avoid death. As a matter of fact, if I was given the choice to die or to live on Earth forever I'd choose death. Living forever completely removes the possibility of ever going to Heaven which is eternal punishment in itself.
  4. If Namine was able to alter Sora's original memories and replace Kairi with herself... and do that while Sora was awake... then why did he have to go to sleep for her to simply swap herself with Kairi again? And why did it take so long... she was able to completely mess up his memory in the small amount of time that it took him to make his way through the castle so I don't see why changing it a second time tooked so long. Additionally, she said that she never "erased" his memories to begin with and simply "rearranged the chains"... so bringing them back should be even easier then before when she had to create new memories from scratch. Also... why did Sora have to give up the memories from the castle in order to regain his old memories? I can understand giving up the memories that Namine tampered with, but all the other stuff... him meeting the Organization... fighting the Riku Replica... and meeting Namine... those were new memories. It doesn't make sense that he would have had to have forgotten all of that as well.
  5. It doesn't "suck". But I do believe it was the worst KH game in the series for the following reasons: - the story was "lacking". It didn't have the same feel as the other games and it wasn't nearly as epic. - the story wasn't all that interesting in the first place - the story didn't make a whole lot of sense and was just... weird. They flip through the journal and see a sentence that's not supposed to be there and everyone's reaction is "let's upload it into the Matrix"? How could that possibly help (I mean... it does help... but what reason did they have to assume that they could get to the bottom of it that way out of all ways?)? Plus... who really cares what some random sentence means? Maybe Jiminey should be a bit upset that someone had invaded his privacy like that... and maybe a bit paranoid... but there was no reason to go on a full-scale investigation over it to begin with. Stuff shoing up in the journal has happened before as well... the phrase "Thank Namine" appeared, yet they didn't go on some strange side-mission just to find out what that phrase meant. For all they know the message in the journal this time around could have also been written by Jimeny and he could have simply forgotten about it. - "Data Sora" and "Data Riku" are pointless characters who play no role in the overall story of the series. - the story serves no real purpose in the overall story of the series other than to lead up to KH3D (but I haven't beaten Re:Coded yet so I could be wrong about this...)
  6. How is the store ripping you off? They're selling you the product that you wanted to buy (which they are supposed to be doing considering that they are a store)... they aren't seeking out crappy games and trying to dupe their customers into buying them.If you buy a game and you don't like it then either: you just don't like it (not the store's fault at all), or it truly is a crappy game (but if that's the case then it's because you blindly purchased the game without doing any research... still not the store's fault)
  7. I'm djenni12, http://www.youtube.com/user/djenni12/videos However, I don't use it much, especially not for uploading (as I don't make a lot of videos...) I only have 5 videos uploaded (none being KH-related)
  8. Why not go into game design as a major (it's not all programming you know...)More and more colleges are offering game design... back in the day the game industry was run by people in the film industry along with computer people but that's all changing. If you want to do anything with games then you're going to need a degree in game design.
  9. I've always been under the impression that The Door, The Door to Darkness, and The Door to the Light are all referring to the same door.
  10. - Monkeybeard Studios (it's an indie game company which makes awesome RPGs!!! Except it's run by me and a friend so there's an obvious bias right there...) - Square / Square Enix -- for the Final Fantasy games that I've played (haven't played them all) and the Kingdom Hearts series. Never played The World Ends With You but it doesn't look too appealing to me... and I don't think I've played any of their other games. - Rareware / Rare back in the days of the N64 (and before Conker's Bad Fur Day) -- those were some of the best games I've ever played - Gamefreak solely for the Pokémon series - Nintendo (if that's a "studio") -- mostly for Zelda and Donkey Kong (not Donkey Kong Country though... although Donkey Kong Country was Rare so it doesn't exactly count)... and the Mario franchise (not the main games though... I don't like platformers).
  11. I agree... it's metaphorical or perhaps figurative or symbolic. Do not take it for a literal meaning since the game itself is not super-realistic (i.e. people can jump off buildings without getting hurt) and figurative (i.e. people can have their hearts removed / draw power from the heart / draw power from the darkness / etc.) Surely in a non-realistic story then he can walk around completely aware of his surroundings and still be able to fight despite having a blindfold on.However, if the series was more realistic / based on real life then I highly doubt that he'd be wearing a blindfold at all since he'd constantly be walking into things and be unable to fight very well. And I personally think that it is entirely symbolic / has no literal meaning whatsoever (other than the fact that in the game he is physically wearing it). The idea that wearing a blindfold supresses the darkness really makes no sense... not to mention that it is contradicted in one cutscene where he lifts up the blindfold from one eye in order to take a look at Xion, but he remains unchanged despite one eye being uncovered. If only a single eye had to be covered then why not just walk around with an eye patch on? Eye patches are cooler anyway! Also that scene proves that his eyes did not change colour at all, since the eye that is shown looks completely normal.
  12. Returning something that isn't defective is morally unacceptable in my opinion. That's like watching half of a movie and then demanding your money back. Or eating half of a hamburger and expecting a refund even though there's nothing wrong with it. Not to mention that simply opening the game destroys its value... so if you're not paying for it and the manufacturer isn't paying for it (which he isn't)... then who's stuck with the bill? The store you bought it from is stuck paying and it's completely unfair. If I ran the store then I simply wouldn't give refunds... or if I did, it would be for the depreciated value of the game (since I could sell it as a used game, assuming my shop sells used games). As a matter of fact... most stores (around here anyway) don't accept returns. I've never tried returning anything so I don't know if they typically stick to store policy, but they've got no-return policies on (opened) new games. As for selling games back... I have done that before. Only a few games were games that I didn't like though... the rest I just sold either because I was tired of them or had to make a quick buck (which looking back on was a horrible idea because I traded in nearly my entire game collection and only got enough money to buy a single game... never doing that again...)
  13. I have never experienced any of those stereotypes... Everyone who I have ever met (in my generation) either plays games themselves or is just not into them... no one outright refuses to play games becuase they are childish / violent / nerdy / whatever or looks down upon gamers for those reasons. As far as people blaming violent events on video games... I really haven't seen that happen since Jack Thompson lost his license (and even before he lost his license I never really heard about it while it was actually happening...) Seems like it's just him and a few other guys taking that stance... not a majority of anyone.
  14. Yeah... that too.I meant 70% of this board's American users probably aren't old enough to vote. No idea if that's true or not... but I figure probably at least half aren't... it could very well be 70%.
  15. It's illegal because it is free to download from them and to play, not free to distribute.Of course, with it being freely available then they probably wouldn't care... but it's illegal nonetheless. Anyway, I've read that the Japanese demo can only be played 15 times... that true? If so then I really don't even want to play it. I'll just wait and buy the game when it comes out.
  16. I agree with the Strike Raid... clearly that's not what was happening but I seriously thought it was some failed attempt at an attack when I first saw the video. The whole scene itself makes no sense. How does someone run up the side of the building? Do the laws of gravity not apply? How does Riku jump off the building and land completely unharmed? How does Roxas also jump off the building completely unharmed? And if Riku was just going to come down and fight the Heartless anyway then why did Roxas go through all the trouble of running up the side of a building? Why not just wait for Riku to come down on his own? Or shout something to Riku... something like "Hey, you with the blindfold! I'm about to be killed by these Heartless! Get down here and help me out, would you?!" Not to mention that I don't see how those heartless were even a serious threat...
  17. I have no idea if there's any way of accessing the Japanese eShop but I seriously doubt it.As for uploading the demo... that'd be illegal...
  18. Over 15 years... I was actually probably one of the last kids in my area to start playing video games... I never had an SNES (I think my parents thought it was a waste of money or something). But they did get me an N64... not at release but still relatively early on (I'm thinking 1998 or 1999). So that was my first TV game console. A few years before that I had a GameBoy Color. That was around / slightly before the time of Pokémon's release. So 1995 or 1996... over 15 years. I did play a few computer games even earlier though... there was a few at school (I remember Sim Ant, some Mario Game Gallery or something, and I think The Oregon Trail) as well as my grandfather having a DOS computer with 5¼ inch floppies containing some games such as Centipede and some 2D virtual billiards game.
  19. Was this ever explained in detail? Because I remember that general idea being mentioned in-game but I don't remember exactly what it is that they did to "betray" him. I don't even remember if they even said what the students actually did.Or is that in Birth by Sleep (which I haven't played yet)?
  20. I believe that less than 70% of users of these forums will vote for Obama because I believe that less than 70% of the users of these forums are even old enough to vote. Even if everyone here was old enough to vote then my guess is that Obama still won't even come close to 70% of the people here (or 70% of people in any form of even remotely-distributed poll (i.e. not a disproportional amount of black people or of democrats)) As for who I'm voting for... I vote against Obama. Personally I support Ron Paul, and that's who I voted for in the primary. However, he will not win the primary (at this point does he even have a possibility of winning or has Romney already gained enough delegates?) Since Ron Paul did not win the candidacy then I am forced to vote for Romney (as much as I don;t like Romney). Writing-in Ron Paul or voting for any third-party candidate is just throwing the vote away and will do little more than help Obama. As for why I am against Obama... quite a few reasons actually. One main issue is the abortion issue. I'm pro-life and Obama is the most pro-choice President in the entire history of the United States. Unfortunately for me, Romney isn't much better. Romney claims to be "pro-life"... but he really isn't, as can be seen by his voting record. He flip-flops every few years... seemingly only to gain votes. Even so, he's more "pro-life" than Obama. Another issue is Obamacare... which I'm against. And again, unfortunately Romney has his own program called "Romneycare" which sounds just as bad as Obamacare. Then there's the issue with that HHS contraception mandate (not sure if people here have heard about it or not... recently the liberal media has been... not reporting... various lawsuits against the mandate). As for the economy... I haven't noticed Obama doing anything to improve it (not that he caused the recession... which I don't believe. I also don't believe Bush caused it... I believe that it just happened. It was a direct result of banks loaning people too much money). But how to make it better? I follow the conservative theory behind economics (minimize government spending and minimize taxes) vs. the democrat one (keep government spending the same / increase it and tax the citizens more to cover the debt). Since Romney is more conservative then I'll assume he'll use a more conservative method.
  21. The only thing on that list that is even an issue is the first one. The second one has no impact on most people at all and there's nothing wrong with them choosing to gather data / keep files on people anyway... especially people who they are considering hiring. Almost every job has some sort of background check and I'd expect certain government jobs to have a more thourough background check than your run-of-the-mill job. The third one is complete nonsense -- Facebook status messages have always been and always will be public. It's as much of an "invasion of privacy" to read a Facebook status as it is to read a message on some random guy's shirt in public. The fourth one already happens... it's just not the government requiring it. But ISPs really do keep those sorts of records. As for the first one, yes, that is an invasion of privacy if it is done in the manner that this article describes (although I wouldn't take this article as 100% accurate considering it has a clear bias toward the position that "the government is out to get you"). Anyway, it's common sense to not put anything important / private (credit card numbers, passwords, etc.) in an e-mail. E-mail is incredibly insecure and can be intercepted by hackers relatively easily... a general rule-of-thumb is to never put anything in an e-mail that you wouldn't send through the mail on a post card. As much of an "invasion of privacy" that that is... there really shouldn't be anything all that private in the e-mails to begin with. That, and it would literally be impossible for the government to actually read all of everyone's e-mails in the first place. And those government employees are not just sitting around making jokes to each other "Hey, this guy sent this embarrassing e-mail out to his girlfriend. He's such a fool" etc. And neither will they look for people's passwords / credit card numbers and commit identity theft. The government simply does not have time to do stuff like that... most likely they'll use some sort of search / sorting program to single out e-mails with certain keywords (e-mails which are more likely to be sent from terrorists or from cyber criminals) and read the indicated parts of those e-mails. Yes, it's still an invasion of privacy... but it will have practically no impact on the average e-mail user whatesoever.
  22. I... have forgotten my own age. Seriously. I had a strong feeling that I was 23, but I just added up my age and it turns out I'm 24. I did just have a birthday... but that was back in March. And I have never said my age since then, not even to myself... and I guess... I just... forgot it. So anyway, I'm 24, lol
  23. If you really think you're having some sort of sleep problem then go see a doctor. Personally, I don't think that you have a sleep problem at all. You're probably just not tired... and by laying in bed then it is actually causing you to stay awake even longer. If instead of you even attempting to go to sleep at 10 or ll if you waited until like 12 then that might help (or maybe not... but I think it's quite pointless to lay in bed doing absolutely nothing for 4 hours straight...) As for waking up late... do you have an alarm clock? If you do and it's not waking you up then I don't know what to tell you... if it is waking you up and you're going back to sleep afterwards then don't. Make a conscious effort not to go back to sleep. If you are still tired when waking up then I'd say set the alarm clock like an hour or a half hour earlier. And do not go back to sleep. Chances are you'll be tired for like an hour but be fully awake by the time that you wanted to wake up at in the first place.
  24. I might be missing something... but wasn't Xemnas (and the rest of the Organization)'s goal to release enough hearts (by killing the Heartless with the Keyblade) in order for all the hearts to form Kingdom Hearts... and then the Nobodies would be able to re-gain their own hearts and become whole again? I don't understand... what is so bad about that? The way I see it, DiZ was just a jerk who had some crazy belief that Nobodies were inferiour to humans / Nobodies weren't people or something... and that they did not deserve to exist. Maybe he's just using Nobodies as a scapegoat for Xemnas himself or something... since I know that he had a grudge against Xehanort for doing whatever it is he did. Something about hearts... I actually don't really remember he details much at all. And also Xehanort stole Ansem's name which I guess DiZ was mad at him for that or something... that I can understand. Not that I agree with it, but that part makes sense. But then for some reason all these other people (starting with Riku, Namine, and Mickey) just started siding with DiZ for some reason. That is what I don't understand. DiZ was operating out of a grudge / anger / hatred so why did Riku, Mickey, Sora, etc. all end up just going along with all of it? And what really would have been so bad if Kingdom Hearts was completed and the Organization all got hearts of their own? The "heros" are all fighting to the death to stop Xemnas and the rest of the Organization from completing Kingdom Hearts and becoming whole again but I don't understand anyone's motive at all...
  25. If it was a game I like and the DVD itself was legal and official (not fan-made or a bootleg or anything) then I probably would consider buying it. Then again, maybe not. I try to stay away from cutscenes on YouTube partly because they ruin the re-play experience of a game that I might end up replaying (or ruin the experience in general of a game which I have not yet played or beaten). But then again, I really liked the Theatre Mode on 358 Days / 2...
