Not-with-a-whimper

(@Damion Strife: As I won't be off of work until 5:00 P.M. Central U.S. time and we've already discussed the story and our characters privately when you were developing the idea, I'd really appreciate it if you'd temporarily control my characters to get them started in the story. (OOC: No, I've been following along, but as my character was done with his training with the npcs, I didn't want to interrupt the match that you guys had going on. I'm not sure anyone else is still here, though.)

He speaks regularly with Lord Death and he is on his way to becoming a Death Scythe. Also, after seeing both of his parents dealing with heartbreak, he's decided to do his best to find and win over the love of his life before she slips away. To this end, he seems to be a big flirt. He always seems to have with him a near infinite amount of gum, so much so that "Gum" has unfortunately become his nick name, with which to break the ice in meeting people. Also, over time he's developed quite the addiction. Abilities and drawbacks: He will eventually be able to use self soul resonances with the ARMs he creates from his soul. The broom can be used to fly as well as launching wind magic. The scythe and it's variations is used for most all close combat. He is proficient in both, excelling in scythe combat and riding the broom like a skateboard. Weapon(s): He can turn parts of his body into parts of a scythe, grow scythe blades off of his body, use his combined powers from both parents to shape his soul energy into a weaker version of his scythe form as an ARM outside of his body, and can do the same for the Broom of the West Wind (Dorothy's broom). Jykell does suffer from a bi-polar/multiple personality disorder, but Stein doesn't seem to notice or care. Maybe because Stein is crazy himself. He is normally incredibly polite and ocd about everything being clean and orderly. Abilities and drawbacks: He can change his soul wavelength just like his father to either lessen the power of other's attacks on him or increase his damage to them. He can also put soul energy into his attacks. He has his mother's Vector Arrows, Vector Storm, Vector Boost, and Vector Plate abilities, but none of her mental abilities, manipulations, or snake esque things. When fighting he is overly confident and rash. Weapon(s): None. He fights with his abilities alone. Alignment: Good for now, but there's a much darker side just waiting to get out.

She's really embarrassed of the way her mom acts and she hangs out with her dad a lot. She is embarrassed of the cat ears that show up when she uses magic as well, so she rarely ever does. Her father is very protective of her, and she learned basically everything she knows about fighting from him. She can be very flirtatious, but she never really means to be. When she really likes a guy she tends to act awkwardly around him. A good natured girl with a bit of an adventurous streak and a hatred for demons, she's ready for just about anything this rp can throw at her. Abilities and drawbacks: She is great with a sword and twin pistols, as she's had a lot of practice learning from her dad. She can use fire magic due to her mother's nature, but doing so makes her grow cat ears and a tail for the time being. Her biggest drawback is her lack of defensive skills. She's mostly used to killing things before they even get the chance to attack. Weapons: Ebony and Ivory (twin pistols), and Rebellion (a broad sword) Alignment: Good

"No problem, I'll text you the number and rest up until you get here. It was about time for me to take a break anyway," August replied. He was feeling a bit tired, to be honest, though he had made sure to get decent sleep and rest. He guessed that there was only so far one could push their body without it pushing back.

Commandment 8: Don't notice the giant duck and dog, no matter how out of place they may be in that world.

(Wow, sorry guys. I was gone for a weekend and a lot happened. I think I can write off my character's absence, though.) As soon as August had told the others to get rest and train, he had flown Zodiark to a close by abandoned clinic, due to be torn down from structural issues but still housing many of the cots it had used before. August immediately set to work with fierce determination, summoning and practicing with each weapon to mastery, stopping only to get something to eat, sleep in one of the cots, or tidy up and relive himself in the restroom. After relentlessly training his weapon skill, he set to mastering the concurrences. Vaan would give him a pointer every now and again, but mostly sensed to stay off to the side of things, letting August work this out for himself. The one major suggestion Vaan made was that August learn to be light on his feet and agile, as Vaan's particular skills benefited those who didn't jump head long into the fray like Cloud's did. He was a Sky Pirate, after all. When August felt confident enough, he summoned Belias the Gigas as a training partner to fight against him. He was doing pretty well until in the middle of the fight his phone rang, distracting him. He was hit by a Painflare, but quickly dispelled Belias and went over to his phone, taking it with him on his way to grab medical supplies for the burn. Checking it, he found that he'd missed a call from Jared, the pilot from before. Memories that he'd pushed aside in his training came to the surface once again. He'd had little human contact since the event, shutting himself off mostly from the world. Looking back at it, he realized just how stupid that had been, as times like these are what friends were for. That's why, when Jared called again, he answered. "Hey there Jared, I take it you're ready to join back up with us? We're in Japan, or at least all of the others were when I last saw them. I kinda went off to train on my own. If you meet me here then we could do some training for prep, and I think I have the number of Mariah, Tifa's host, from way back when we met at the hospital." At the same time I met Marcus, he thought, but pressed on. "You can just follow the GPS coordinates in my phone. What's up on your end?"

Great, thought Joseph, the pressure to decide is back on me now. If something goes wrong, I'll be the first one blamed. Oh well, I guess there's nothing to do about it. "I guess we should head to Faria first as a sign of good faith. They are one of our newest and most powerful allies after all, and it would give a good impression if we were to look and see what could be done to help there kingdom. Besides, the travel from here to there would require a ship, and after that we could just cycle around, going from kingdom to kingdom and place to place on foot. Does that sound good to everyone?" he asked as he walked leisurely after the other two.

(OOC: I love the "The man your man could smell like" thing as your title. Cracked me up!) Joseph, not to be left out of his group, responded positively as well. "Well, if prophesy is mixed up in this then I guess fate will have me take part whether I want to or not. I'm in." Joseph was rather surprised at his considering the other two to be "his group" but waved it off. The king smiled in appreciation of their choices. Turning to the other two, Joseph asked, "After we eat and sleep here, where would you guys like to go first? I'm guessing we'll be making progress just about anywhere we go, so one place is as good as the other." (OOC: The five Knights will each be connected to a chess piece. Damion has the castle, I will have the bishop, and the main villain will have the king, leaving the knight and the queen for AnsemTheWise to choose from. What I'd like to know is how you guys think we should handle the pawns? Should pawns be like the Ark Knight in WKC2 or should they be special weapons/pieces of armor with potent abilities? Let me know what you think. Also, if you guys want to add in a character or two then you're more than welcome.)

(Okay, this has been at a stand still for a little bit, so I'm just going to have my characters come back from training.) Anfang was incredibly satisfied with his training experience. He had grown, not only in power, speed, and skill, but also in physical appearance. He now looked the age he had always felt, sixteen, and it seemed like Taylor had noticed which made him even happier. Uncle Leroy had been like a drill sergeant in his head the whole time, while Goku and the others had been incredibly supportive. He was now even faster than before and his ki blasts and such were more powerful. He even got a semi-decent amount of physical strength to back things up. Taylor had, for her part, been practicing and training in the use of her healing and shielding abilities. Anfang's greatest accomplishment, however, was the learning of Kio Ken. With that and his incredible energy reserves he could finally be of actual use in a fight against an all-powerful opponent.

I thought that the pictures were well made and thought out and spoke to a simple beauty nearly everyone can find in nature if they look for it. The addition of the girls simply made the scenery feel more alive and emotional than the pictures would have looked otherwise. Thank you for sharing, Yuzuki!

August had Zodiark rush up beside the Behemoth the others were on. "Hey," he said to Chuck in the same detached voice as before, "it'd be best if we just took this time to rest up from battles and train. We have no idea where he is right now, but we know where he'll be in a week. I, for one, want to be ready." Then, turning to the rest of them, he asked "Who else is with me?"

Nice song choice and video! I'm excited for the series and appreciative of the hard work you put into this!

Oh noes!!!!! I nearly cried.

Kingdom Hearts is both the beginning and end of hearts, while those characters simply have multiple hearts within them. It sounds like a fun story thing, though.

(Damion's definitely not dropping out, he's simply taking up the role of the new greatest threat. He will be controlling Cain, who we will need to defeat. August is indeed mourning the loss of Marcus, as he was one of the characters to be with him for the greatest amount of time.) August looked at Jared through tear fogged eyes and handed the body over. "Thank you. Feel free to contact me when you're relieved of your current engagements and I'll tell you where we're at. We'll still need your help, Jared," August said dryly, his voice taking on a cold and detached tone. After Jared had taken Marcus's body, August urged Zodiark forward, spurring it to unleash some of it's hidden strength. It's wings became alight with fire as he rocketed forward towards Cain. He knew it was probably no use, however. Caius could manipulate space and time. What chance did they have of reaching him? He knew these things, yes, but his hate spurred him on, ignoring reason just as mercy had ignored Marcus.

I have to agree here. Nice pairings, though, to everyone.

Terror stricken and in shock, August couldn't respond when Marcus was tossed to him and when he grabbed August's arm. As Marcus began to fall, Vaan quickly took over and had Zodiark swoop down to grab Marcus's now lifeless body. "NOOOO! IT WASN'T SUPPOSED TO END LIKE THIS FOR HIM! WE'RE THE HEROES, DAMNIT! WE'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO DIE!" As August held the corpse after shouting, he felt his heart suddenly cold towards Cain. There would be revenge, and he would exact it mercilessly.

Riku whoops massive tail, "YES!" He joins your team, "WAIT, WHERE'D ALL THE AWESOME GO?"

I think it looks very nice.

August was in awe, but not surprised at the feat that they had just accomplished. He had seen stranger things, after all, like the meteor being summoned in the first place. "You know," he began, "I'm all for figuring out our next move, but I really hope we can do that on the ground. That is, of course, assuming that the "bahemut" guy from before with Caius as an inhabiter doesn't show back up."
